In case you’re wondering, it was page 218 panel 2 that did me in。

4。5。 I actually had sped through this but forgot to mark as finished。 I enjoyed the alternating narrative perspectives and the new mythology that extended the show's mythology。 4。5。 I actually had sped through this but forgot to mark as finished。 I enjoyed the alternating narrative perspectives and the new mythology that extended the show's mythology。 。。。more

They really had me in the first half and then the conclusion did a whole 180。 Some people might not like that about the pacing but I really loved it。 This kept me on my toes, gave some characters some much-needed TLC, and developed the story so well。 I wonder how such a big revelation will influence the stories moving forward and I cannot wait to keep going! Definitely looking like this comic series is only going to get better as we go along。 I wonder how they will handle storylines that don't have such a great setup from the show so I am hesitant but extremely hopeful。 Such a fun and rewarding experience and I finally got some answers that I've been waiting for SEASONS。 。。。more

This book focuses more on Zuko as a person and how he is fitting into his new role, but also still struggling with doubts about himself, which I liked。 We get to see Azula and dive into her batshit craziness again which I love, and we get the backstory of Zuko and Azula's mom。 It is a new adventure without completely ignoring the events of the last book, and we get to see more familiar characters and meet new ones。 I absolutely love the artwork on the mother of faces, and we love to see Sokka an This book focuses more on Zuko as a person and how he is fitting into his new role, but also still struggling with doubts about himself, which I liked。 We get to see Azula and dive into her batshit craziness again which I love, and we get the backstory of Zuko and Azula's mom。 It is a new adventure without completely ignoring the events of the last book, and we get to see more familiar characters and meet new ones。 I absolutely love the artwork on the mother of faces, and we love to see Sokka and his boomerang。Would recommend?Yes, especially if you are a fan of the show 。。。more

I love Avatar: The Last Airbender and the comics I have read so far, and this story did not disappoint。 I loved it, from the art to the characters (I love them all so much and it’s so good to see them after the show) and the story were so good。 I really just love reading about these characters and this world and so this comic was just right for me。

Just like the Promise, absolutly amazing, touching and important in so many ways。 This book maybe deals with less political and social issues, but instead goes far more into the characters Zuko and Azula, and their relationship。

Even better than The Promise! The plot is amazing and intricate and the character designs are especially beautiful。

LOVED this! The answer to the biggest cliffhanger at the end of the show, Zuko's mom。 The writers did a great job of having everything truly fit each story line。 LOVED this! This story built upon the show so well。 I loved reading it, but definitely wish I could have seen it on television。 This has to be one of the best story arcs in the Avatar world, and Im so happy that Zuko got his time to really shine。

So incredibly good。 The art is amazing, the story and dialog are spot on with the original series, and it definitely does ATLA justice。 Must read for anyone who’s watched Avatar: The Last Airbender。 Hoping for this to be animated with Avatar Studios!

3 stars。This was pretty good。 The three parts that make up this graphic novel focus mostly on the search for Zuko and Azula’s mother (Ursa)。 It flips between the Avatar gang searching for her in current time and showing flashbacks of Ursa’s story。 I was SO happy to have a Zuko-centered story。 He’s my favorite。 I named my cat after him。 The plot was decent。 The story didn’t drag at all, and I was intrigued by the twists that were revealed。 There was a good amount of action that kept the pace。 But 3 stars。This was pretty good。 The three parts that make up this graphic novel focus mostly on the search for Zuko and Azula’s mother (Ursa)。 It flips between the Avatar gang searching for her in current time and showing flashbacks of Ursa’s story。 I was SO happy to have a Zuko-centered story。 He’s my favorite。 I named my cat after him。 The plot was decent。 The story didn’t drag at all, and I was intrigued by the twists that were revealed。 There was a good amount of action that kept the pace。 But。。。 there were just some things that irked me。 While it was satisfying to finally get the full story about what happened to Ursa, the decisions she made at certain points left a bad taste in my mouth。 I don’t necessarily need to agree with characters to enjoy a story, but it felt like the authors were trying to get me to admire her and I just couldn’t。 Also, while it was interesting to have Azula back (I loved her as a villain in the television series), it felt like the authors didn’t really know what they were doing with her。 Yes, I get that she is supposed to be emotionally and mentally unstable, but she kept making really inconsistent decisions that just didn’t make sense。 I’m totally on board for moral ambiguity but in this context it was just confusing and all over the place。 Katara, Aang, and Sakka were there too, but it seemed like they were just along so readers wouldn’t be disappointed without the whole gang。 How they even got involved didn’t make sense。 It was basically “we’re your friends so we will come along!” Don’t you have better things to do as the Avatar? Anyway。。。I would have preferred we just focus on on Zuko and Azula if they had no important plans for the others。And then one of my biggest disappointments was the lack of lighthearted humor in this one。 I always thought this series did so well creating moments that make both kids and adult laugh。 I didn’t so much as snicker reading this。 Sure, it was a more solemn story, but you had the whole gang along for the journey (again, for no apparent reason), so I expected a bit more of the funny banter。 We got some typical moments from Sakka, but I don’t like him very much。 Maybe it’s because Toph was missing。 She cracks me up。 Oh well。This was a good installment in the series, but the authors didn’t use our characters as well as I would have hoped。 Looking forward to continuing, regardless。 。。。more

After reading some of the critique, I can see why everyone didn’t love it the way I do, but I’m not changing my mind about this。 I enjoyed it so much, the parallels are killing me, and my heart is almost dead now。 The spectrum of emotion this short thing get out of me is incredible。 True, some of the plot means are stupid, but the overall plot is good, and the characters are… I just want to hug all of them now。(view spoiler)[But what I really want to talk about is the backlash Ursa is getting he After reading some of the critique, I can see why everyone didn’t love it the way I do, but I’m not changing my mind about this。 I enjoyed it so much, the parallels are killing me, and my heart is almost dead now。 The spectrum of emotion this short thing get out of me is incredible。 True, some of the plot means are stupid, but the overall plot is good, and the characters are… I just want to hug all of them now。(view spoiler)[But what I really want to talk about is the backlash Ursa is getting here。 Sure, I wasn’t happy about her choosing the new mind either, but at the same time I understand it。 I think what most people don’t think about it the fact that she didn’t want to forget her children, but she couldn’t bear the other memories she had from that time。 Why is that? She was married against her will to a man, who forbade her to ever see or even talk about her family again。 Do you really believe he was nice to her? From what we see she was in an abusive relationship for almost 10 years (that abuse didn’t have to be physical…)。 Is it natural that she wanted to forget about it? Yes。 Should she have done it? No, but… it’s understandable。 I was a little disappointed by how it all played out in the end。 I believe that the flow of these old hurtful memories should have made bigger impact on her when they come back to her, but… I can deal with a little disappointment。 (hide spoiler)]Finally knowing to happened feels so good! 。。。more

I definately liked this one more than the last one。 The characters felt much more true to their established traits than in the last one。 I dont read graphic novels very often, but this one was super easy to breeze through。 I'm a little sad because I got through it in one afternoon, but they do an amazing job setting up the story and the resolution。 It definately felt like it could've been a plotline on the show。 I think I liked it so much more because the focus was on Zuko and Azula, not so much I definately liked this one more than the last one。 The characters felt much more true to their established traits than in the last one。 I dont read graphic novels very often, but this one was super easy to breeze through。 I'm a little sad because I got through it in one afternoon, but they do an amazing job setting up the story and the resolution。 It definately felt like it could've been a plotline on the show。 I think I liked it so much more because the focus was on Zuko and Azula, not so much on Aang and Katara (and their cringy relationship) like the last graphic novel。 Lots of questions were answered in really rewarding ways, and the art looks great! I'm really glad they continued Azula's story where Zuko decides to treat her better and I'm glad we got Ursa's story。 It kinda broke my heart。 I'm really glad they continued Azula's story where Zuko decides to treat her better and I'm glad we got Ursa's story。 It kinda broke my heart。 。。。more

I enjoyed this, but I liked The Promise better。 This story had obviously been planned out a long time in advance by the show writers, and I feel like that hamstrung Gene Luen Yang a bit。 I also cannot fathom why they let Azula out。 I can see a bunch of story reasons why she needs to be there, but she's such a dangerous lunatic that it makes no sense for the characters to take her anywhere unrestrained。 The whole "care for and forgive your family" theme also seems kind of ridiculous when the fami I enjoyed this, but I liked The Promise better。 This story had obviously been planned out a long time in advance by the show writers, and I feel like that hamstrung Gene Luen Yang a bit。 I also cannot fathom why they let Azula out。 I can see a bunch of story reasons why she needs to be there, but she's such a dangerous lunatic that it makes no sense for the characters to take her anywhere unrestrained。 The whole "care for and forgive your family" theme also seems kind of ridiculous when the family member in question regularly tries to kill people with no provocation。 I really liked Ursa though, and found her story really compelling。All ages 。。。more

I enjoyed this even more than The Promise。 It answered the question that every fan of the show has had。 What happened to Zuko's mother? I really enjoyed the way it was told, with Zuko's story being intertwined with Ursa's and the art was amazing and felt like I was still watching the show。 I enjoyed this even more than The Promise。 It answered the question that every fan of the show has had。 What happened to Zuko's mother? Me hace muy feliz que existan estos cómics que exploren algunos puntos que quedaron pendientes en la serie。 En este caso, nos enteramos de toda la historia de la madre de Zuko, no puedo más que darle 5 estrellas。 Maravilloso。
