Summary

There are two sides to every story: yours and mine, ours and theirs, His & Hers。 Which means someone is always lying。

When a woman is murdered in Blackdown, a quintessentially British village, newsreader Anna Andrews is reluctant to cover the case。 Detective Jack Harper is suspicious of her involvement, until he becomes a suspect in his own murder investigation。 Someone isn’t telling the truth, and some secrets are worth killing to keep。

His & Hers is a twisty, smart, psychological thriller。 A gripping tale of suspense, told by expertly-drawn narrators that will keep readers guessing until the very end。

Very unpredictable! I read many thrillers/ mysteries/ psychological thrillers and more often than not I am unimpressed。 Especially the really trendy ones。 But I loved this book! I guessed a couple of the more minor twists but most of it caught me off guard。 I couldn’t put it down!!

I liked the originality of the structure of this book…。Her perspective, His, and then the killer’s - who could, right up until the final reveal, be Her, Him or somebody else complete separate altogether。 Very clever! Loved the atmospheric settings too - the woods, the small town life, the characters。 My only niggle was when the killer was finally revealed, it didn’t feel quite right。 I could understand this character’s motivations, but couldn’t quite see the ‘how’ behind every scenario。 Anyway, I liked the originality of the structure of this book…。Her perspective, His, and then the killer’s - who could, right up until the final reveal, be Her, Him or somebody else complete separate altogether。 Very clever! 3。5 good but a little too reliant on coincidence for my taste。 also these characters are idiots。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Very good book。 Lots of twists and turns。 Did not guess who the killer was。 I loved how all of the clues throughout the book all tied in。 There wasn’t any extra text that wasn’t necessary。 Perspective of Anne (reporter), Jack (detective and exhusband) and the unknown killer。 Summary: SPOILERS!!! All of them。 A woman is found dead in the woods, Jack goes to the scene and recognizes her and was with her at that location only last night as well as many other nights since they had a fling going on。 Very good book。 Lots of twists and turns。 Did not guess who the killer was。 I loved how all of the clues throughout the book all tied in。 There wasn’t any extra text that wasn’t necessary。 Perspective of Anne (reporter), Jack (detective and exhusband) and the unknown killer。 Summary: SPOILERS!!! All of them。 A woman is found dead in the woods, Jack goes to the scene and recognizes her and was with her at that location only last night as well as many other nights since they had a fling going on。 Anne goes there to report on it and finds out it’s an old friend from school。 Rachel, she has a bracelet tied around her tongue and her nails clipped and painted to say two faced。 Definitely a murder。 Anne remembers going out the night before and since she had been drinking, which she does often, she has flashes of herself covered in mud and seeing Rachel there。 Rachel and Jack lost their 3 month old daughter years ago and struggle deeply。 A second murder victim turns up and again Jack and Anne both had been to the location the night before。 Jack finds the fingernail clippings in his glovebox and a pair of his boots are muddy on his back porch。 Anne has flashbacks of when she was younger with these friends who weren’t friends but terrible awful girls that ruined lives。 Rachel groomed random girls and blackmailed them, Helen drugged them, Zoe was evil and stole cats to make them into coats。 Anne tried befriending Catherine a girl that didn’t have any friends and every time she did Rachel would do terrible things to her。 On her 16th birthday the 5 girls took a picture with the bracelets Anne made。 Later Rachel took them all out to the woods drunk and forced them to take pills while men paid her to do things to the girls。 Anne ran away and did not help Catherine who she got into this in the first place。 No one ever saw Catherine again after that。 And now all these girls are turning up dead being crossed off the picture one by one。 Her mom has dementia。 But confesses to Anne that the reason her father never came back after he beat her mom so bad she almost died was because she killed him。 Anne figures out that her cameraman who takes her to his cabin since their hotel had been canceled is married to Cat Jones the woman that took her news job wohingegen made her start this field newscastong。 I’m the cabin she recognizes a picture of a little girl Catherine, Cat! Meanwhile Jack is looking for Anne but his partner Priya is finding all of these things that have been planted on Jack making him look guilty。 Upstairs in the cabin she hears Richard scream she goes up and find he’s been stabbed then sees Cat hanging from a noose with a bracelet tied to her tongue。 As she reaches for her phone Cat slips the noose off and tries to reach her。 She runs and finds her mom outside。 They both run and find a car that Jack had been driving with Priya that they crashed into a tree。 She backs up and Cat is standing in front of them。 She hits her and pins her between the tree killing her。 Priya shoots Jack when he leaves to look for Anne。 Priya calls backup and they all go to the hospital。 Anne is the only one left alive in that photo。 But Cat was not the killer。 It was Anne’s mother。 Who found a suicide note from when she was young detailing everything that had happened。 Jack and Anne move in together with his niece since sister was one murdered from the group。 And her mom moves to an assisted living。 。。。more

Thoughts: If you're looking for a page-turning thriller, His & Hers is your pick! I really enjoyed the story and all its twists and turns but be sure to check trigger warnings, since there is a lot going on!👍 What I liked:- short chapters- alternating POVs- insight in Anna's youth- small town setting- classical "Who did it?"👎 What I don't liked:- Anna's annoying teenage friends- relationship between Jack and Priya (felt odd to me)- the end Thoughts: If you're looking for a page-turning thriller, His & Hers is your pick! This is the 3rd book by Alice Feeney that I have read。 I like this narrative style, going back and forth between characters。 I also enjoy trying to figure out what is going on because there are always twists and turns and tricks along the way。 But I also have to suspend reality much of the time as there are so many implausible plot points。 This is the type of book that's a 3。5, enough good to outweigh the bad and I will likely read more by this author。 This is the 3rd book by Alice Feeney that I have read。 I like this narrative style, going back and forth between characters。 I also enjoy trying to figure out what is going on because there are always twists and turns and tricks along the way。 But I also have to suspend reality much of the time as there are so many implausible plot points。 This is the type of book that's a 3。5, enough good to outweigh the bad and I will likely read more by this author。 。。。more

This book was INSANE! Just when I thought I had the twists figured out, the author kept them coming until the very end。 I swear every single chapter had something shocking in it。 I read Rock, Paper, Scissors by her last year, but this one is so much better!

Trinity Miller

Really enjoyed the second half of the book, but the first half dragged and I almost couldn’t get into it enough to keep reading。 I’m glad I stuck with it。 Overall a solid 3 stars。

If this book isn’t on your TBR, add it。 It was such a wild ride and kept me guessing the whole time。 Written from 3 perspectives with some unreliable narrators and a crazy story to unfold。 Another great one from Alice Feeney
