This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 A satisfying ending to an excellent series。 You will find in this novel exactly the same nonstop action and mythological speculation that makes his work so enjoyable。One might argue that some of the character arcs seem wrapped up a little inorganically, but if you don't scrutinise that too hard, they are feel-good moments。I still wish he did a bit more research for the 'Order of Omega' monks。 His superficial reading of Paul shows that he is utterly unfamiliar with the Scriptures。 A satisfying ending to an excellent series。 You will find in this novel exactly the same nonstop action and mythological speculation that makes his work so enjoyable。One might argue that some of the character arcs seem wrapped up a little inorganically, but if you don't scrutinise that too hard, they are feel-good moments。I still wish he did a bit more research for the 'Order of Omega' monks。 His superficial reading of Paul shows that he is utterly unfamiliar with the Scriptures。 。。。more

I am sad to see this series end。 I have been reading and rereading it for 17 years。 I could have finished this book in a day, but I drug it out as I wasn’t ready to let go。

Following straight on from the events in The Two Lost Mountains, this is the epic conclusion to the Jack West Jr series。Without giving too much away, this starts in the middle of the action and never lets up。 It has the usual cast of Jack's friends and family (spread across multiple countries), a ton of enemies coming at them, and seemingly impossible odds, all with a countdown to the end of world event which the previous books have been leading towards。There were lots of tense moments, and quit Following straight on from the events in The Two Lost Mountains, this is the epic conclusion to the Jack West Jr series。Without giving too much away, this starts in the middle of the action and never lets up。 It has the usual cast of Jack's friends and family (spread across multiple countries), a ton of enemies coming at them, and seemingly impossible odds, all with a countdown to the end of world event which the previous books have been leading towards。There were lots of tense moments, and quite a few "oh no!" ones as well。 All done in Matthew Reilly's usual style。I've really enjoyed this whole series, and this book is a fitting end to it。 。。。more

I've really enjoyed the entire Jack West Jr series, but for this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as others。I'm spoiler cutting a couple of things as I don't want to hide the entire review。 (view spoiler)[The books in the series have always been a little over the top in terms of reality, but so many people came back from the dead in this book。 Someone died, and five minutes later there they were again。 Not once, not twice, not even three times it happened, I actually lost count how many times some I've really enjoyed the entire Jack West Jr series, but for this one, I didn't enjoy it as much as others。I'm spoiler cutting a couple of things as I don't want to hide the entire review。 (view spoiler)[The books in the series have always been a little over the top in terms of reality, but so many people came back from the dead in this book。 Someone died, and five minutes later there they were again。 Not once, not twice, not even three times it happened, I actually lost count how many times someone was thought to be dead and then Surprise! Not actually dead。 By the end it was no longer a surprise but kind of expected。 Also, the side plot with the bells was super weird。 Jack showed in the end that you can control people without them being put to sleep, so what was the point of sphinx doing that? Like for real, why did he need to put people to sleep? He'd have gotten the power regardless。 It would have even been better power without putting people to sleep because then he could control people without them knowing。 Which Jack ended up doing in the end。 (I also find that odd, that Jack would actually use the powers in any way, aside from that moment at the end with his dog。 (hide spoiler)]I also felt like there were too many characters too spread out, and too much (but not much really) going on in the different places。 It started to feel long。 Which is an odd feeling for what is normally a fast paced action story。 Otherwise the book was standard fare for a Matthew Reilly novel and on the surface level I did enjoy it。 But it definitely wasn't one of his better books。 And I say that as a huge fan who has read everything he has written。 But hopefully this isn't actually the end of the series and one day we'll be surprised with a new and better book for the series。 :) 。。。more

Exactly what I've come to expect from Matthew Reilly。 I've been following this series since I was twelve years old, right before the second book came out。 It's a series that, while I might not ever seriously pick it up again, I have thoroughly enjoyed and will always hold close to my heart。 An action movie in written form with interesting ideas and interpretations of history and conspiracy, I don't think anyone would walk away from this finale disappointed。 Exactly what I've come to expect from Matthew Reilly。 I've been following this series since I was twelve years old, right before the second book came out。 It's a series that, while I might not ever seriously pick it up again, I have thoroughly enjoyed and will always hold close to my heart。 An action movie in written form with interesting ideas and interpretations of history and conspiracy, I don't think anyone would walk away from this finale disappointed。 。。。more

What can I say? An epic conclusion to an epic series。 It once again took the thrills to a whole new level and ended the series in a satisfying way。 I couldn't ask for anything more。 I'm very clearly biased as I love Matthew Reilly's books, but if you love none stop action with a heart, plus mythology and history, give this series a read, you won't regret it。Thank you, Matthew Reilly What can I say? The success of your career has been truly inspirational, and I can only hope that this means an Ice Station movie is on its way to assaulting my eyeballs soon。You absolute bloody legend! (Can you tell I'm Australian?)Thank you for your books, and thank you for being a repeat offender for forcing me to finish a novel in one sitting because I couldn't put the damn thing down。Yours truly, one of 'those' fans。 。。。more

I enjoyed the hell out of this book。 The characters are excellent, action is exciting, and you truly never really know what's coming next。 Also, it had a very satisfying ending to a 7 book series。 I cannot wait to see what Reilly does next。 I enjoyed the hell out of this book。 The characters are excellent, action is exciting, and you truly never really know what's coming next。 Also, it had a very satisfying ending to a 7 book series。 I cannot wait to see what Reilly does next。 。。。more

2。5 rounded down to 2。The end of an era! I've been reading these books for more than a decade, and had to finish it, especially since the last one ended on such a cliff hanger。 The series peaked early with the mythological/historical aspect taking a precedence over the improbable death-defying cowboy antics。 The last two books have been especially disappointing for me, and that could very well be because I've outgrown the "action/adventure at the expense of everything else" books。 The writing is 2。5 rounded down to 2。The end of an era! I'm sure it's just a ploy。 I think Reilly would make a wonderful scene writer in film, but should leave the books / actual script to someone with better writing skills。 I'm glad I saw the series out, but I'm also doubtful that I'll pick another one of his books up。I'd still recommend this series to anyone wanting a VERY fast paced action/adventure ride。 Just be aware that you won't be getting depth to plot/characters or literary excellence with that。 。。。more
