Summary

A beautifully packaged hardback edition of Haruki Murakami's breakout hit, now with a new introduction by the author

When he hears her favourite Beatles song, Toru Watanabe recalls his first love Naoko, the girlfriend of his best friend Kizuki。 Immediately he is transported back almost twenty years to his student days in Tokyo, adrift in a world of uneasy friendships, casual sex, passion, loss and desire - to a time when an impetuous young woman called Midori marches into his life and he has to choose between the future and the past。

'Evocative, entertaining, sexy and funny; but then Murakami is one of the best writers around' Time Out

4。5。 Broke me a lil。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Murakami scrive molto bene, adoro il bilanciamento perfetto tra dialoghi e descrizioni che ti fanno pienamente addentrare nella narrazione。Il problema in sé non è neanche la storia, ma proprio il protagonista che è un egocentrico, infogliato che prova in tutti modi a fare l'alternativo, che sostiene un'opinione e poi in realtà si comporta al contrario。Chi gli sta intorno sono le vere vittime, è un personaggio davvero tanto ma tanto passivo, che non agisce e lascia che gli eventi prendano il sopr Murakami scrive molto bene, adoro il bilanciamento perfetto tra dialoghi e descrizioni che ti fanno pienamente addentrare nella narrazione。Il problema in sé non è neanche la storia, ma proprio il protagonista che è un egocentrico, infogliato che prova in tutti modi a fare l'alternativo, che sostiene un'opinione e poi in realtà si comporta al contrario。Chi gli sta intorno sono le vere vittime, è un personaggio davvero tanto ma tanto passivo, che non agisce e lascia che gli eventi prendano il sopravvento e che cerca di passare come persona che sa tutto del mondo, non riuscendoci。 Solitamente il protagonista non dovrebbe influire con la valutazione generale della storia, ma purtroppo è persino il narratore quindi dobbiamo per 370 pagine subirci i suoi pensieri del cazzo, che metà delle volte sono contornati con robe sessuali, ma lui è diverso dagli altri uomini eh!È innamorato di una donna solo perché era la ragazza del suo migliore amico morto, anche perché l'evoluzione amorosa dei due è pari al nulla, però per quella crista di Midori non si rende conto di provare qualcosa, okay。 Potrei continuare all'infinito ma direi che basta così。 Probabilmente non leggerò Murakami per tipo vent'anni。 。。。more

Fucking Amazing book。 Really immersed me full throttle。 Dont think the erotic scenes detract from the story but more often than not are needed for the reader to feel for the characters that go through such terrible instances of death that are part of life。

Before I bought and read this book, I looked at reviews on Amazon and YouTube and they all seemed positive。 They made it seem like this author knew what he was doing when writing。 After some time, I went to the the bookstore and paid a high price for this book, only to read it and start thinking that these people must have been paid to make those reviews。The main character is an asshole。 He doesn’t really know what he’s doing to the girls he meet, it seems like he won’t even try to understand the Before I bought and read this book, I looked at reviews on Amazon and YouTube and they all seemed positive。 They made it seem like this author knew what he was doing when writing。 After some time, I went to the the bookstore and paid a high price for this book, only to read it and start thinking that these people must have been paid to make those reviews。The main character is an asshole。 He doesn’t really know what he’s doing to the girls he meet, it seems like he won’t even try to understand these women and their past。 He only wants to have sex with them, which brings me to the next point。 There’s too many sex scenes in this book! I didn’t buy this to read about sex! And also they start talking about it out of nowhere, like they are eating something and out of nowhere a character starts talking about sex。The characters in this book are very poorly written, not only the women。 The only interesting male characters in the book are briefly talked about and the main guy treats them like shit, like he treats the women。 The positive part of this book is the songs mentioned in it。 I never really tried to listen to the Beatles, but after this book, I found out they have some nice songs。 Murakami has nice writing, I like the way he describes things and how the characters are feeling。 Other than that, this book deserves two stars。 I feel like it should receive a little bit less, though。 I don’t really regret reading it, but I do regret spending my money on this。(P。S。: Sorry for my bad English! I apologize for any mistake I made。) 。。。more

I loved the characters, they are very real and 3 dimensional。 The book had a few uncomfortable s3x scenes that weren’t necessary。 I found the book very confusing and slow at times; it was sometimes hard to follow the plot

4。5 I liked how in depth and real all of the characters felt。 It was very well written and felt like every word belonged with all of it flowing together very nicely :)) But it’s also kind of depressing and a lot of people die but still a nice story…

Murakami is a grade A cuck with a divine ability to make this book just palatable enough to turn a blind eye to it。

A magnificent blending of the music, the mood, and the ethos that was the sixties with the story of one college student's romantic coming of age, Norwegian Wood brilliantly recaptures a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love。 This is my first book by this author。 Throughout the book I have been feeling weird about the characters and their behaviour。 This book was a slow burn for me。 I don't know if I am going to read another book by Haruki Murakami still thinking, help me decide。 Have you A magnificent blending of the music, the mood, and the ethos that was the sixties with the story of one college student's romantic coming of age, Norwegian Wood brilliantly recaptures a young man's first, hopeless, and heroic love。 This is my first book by this author。 Throughout the book I have been feeling weird about the characters and their behaviour。 This book was a slow burn for me。 I don't know if I am going to read another book by Haruki Murakami still thinking, help me decide。 Have you read this book? Despite the mixed reviews I’ve read about this book I personally loved it and I would read it again and again。 Murakami has his ways of describing everything from the scenery to the characters in the story that makes your imagination run。 I can understand why some people were maybe tired or bored by these long descriptions etc but they create this agony to see what’s coming next and it creates a nice bond between the characters and the reader。 As for the end it left me crying for a whole day。。。。 Despite the mixed reviews I’ve read about this book I personally loved it and I would read it again and again。 Murakami has his ways of describing everything from the scenery to the characters in the story that makes your imagination run。 I can understand why some people were maybe tired or bored by these long descriptions etc but they create this agony to see what’s coming next and it creates a nice bond between the characters and the reader。 As for the end it left me crying for a whole day。。。。。。。。。 。。。more

I don't get the hype about this book at all。I thought 1q84 was an exception as many people told me to read this book but all I found was the same setting。 the thing I hated the most was the loose ends, not the kind that makes you feel a lot of emotions but a kind that annoys you, they are not an integral part of the story but the story is kinda incomplete without them。 I don't get the hype about this book at all。I thought 1q84 was an exception as many people told me to read this book but all I found was the same setting。 the thing I hated the most was the loose ends, not the kind that makes you feel a lot of emotions but a kind that annoys you, they are not an integral part of the story but the story is kinda incomplete without them。 。。。more
