Summary

Liz Buxbaum has always known that Wes Bennett was not boyfriend material。 You would think that her next-door neighbor would be a prince candidate for her romantic comedy fantasies, but Wes has only proven himself to be a pain in the butt, ever since they were little。 Wes was the kid who put a frog in her Barbie Dreamhouse, the monster who hid a lawn gnome's severed head in her little homemade neighborhood book exchange。

Flash forward ten years from the Great Gnome Decapitation。 It's Liz's senior year, a time meant to be rife with milestones perfect for any big screen, and she needs Wes's help。 See, Liz's forever crush, Michael, has just moved back to town, and—horribly, annoyingly—he's hitting it off with Wes。 Meaning that if Liz wants Michael to finally notice her, and hopefully be her prom date, she needs Wes。 He's her in。

But as Liz and Wes scheme to get Liz her magical prom moment, she's shocked to discover that she actually likes being around Wes。 And as they continue to grow closer, she must reexamine everything she thought she knew about love—and rethink her own perception of what Happily Ever After should really look like。

I haven't been a lover of romance books lately, much less YA romance, but I think this book just pulled me out of a slump。 It is a sugar coated easy read, predictable from the very first line but the also an impeccable case study of grief that I personally needed。Navigating conflicting parental relations while dealing with so many other issues, whether it be minor or not can get overwhelming very quickly and at a young age, people often lash out。 That was portrayed very well, was a bit annoying, I haven't been a lover of romance books lately, much less YA romance, but I think this book just pulled me out of a slump。 It is a sugar coated easy read, predictable from the very first line but the also an impeccable case study of grief that I personally needed。Navigating conflicting parental relations while dealing with so many other issues, whether it be minor or not can get overwhelming very quickly and at a young age, people often lash out。 That was portrayed very well, was a bit annoying, but believable。 Not to mention, I'm a rom com addict, so the references to the multitude of movie classics were so endearing and almost nostalgic in a sense。The only downside of this book, honestly, was the lack of development of the protagonist's friendship with her best friend。 It felt like their relationship was only talked about and never really shown until the end for a millisecond。 All in all, not a bad read。 (also the thought of her name being Elizabeth Bennet if they got married?? Stoppppp) 。。。more

First half was very blah, the second half saved it for me。 We need a sequel so we can read more about Wes and not Micheal🤩

This was such a cute book。 I really enjoyed all the characters and the very realistic number of eye-rolls for a high school senior。

5 STARS 🎞🎥🎬Finally I got the chance to read BTTM! I downloaded this book for my flight, and absolutely devoured it — exactly the lighthearted, rom-com that I needed。 Liz and Wes are in their senior year of high school。 They live across the street from each other, and they have known one another since childhood。 Both Liz and Wes had a friend that lived in their neighbourhood, Michael。 Him and his family moved somewhere else, but they moved back to Omaha, in time for senior year。 Liz has had a cru 5 STARS 🎞🎥🎬Finally I got the chance to read BTTM! If you are a lover of cheesy romantic movies, then you need to read this book! Each chapter begins with a quote from a classic rom-com, that applies to the story。 Also, the many, many references to cinema were so fun to read, and they have led me to add a bunch of movies to my “to-watch” list! I read Mr。 Wrong Number by Lynn Painter a few months ago, and just knew that I needed to check this one out, and I was not disappointed! If you have had this book on your TBR for a while, like myself, definitely read it ASAP! x 。。。more

2。5 ⭐️ I want to like this book so much more than I do。 It just didn’t do anything for me。 MC was annoying, plot wasn’t anything new or interesting, and the two major typos I found were horrific。 It was an easy read, and if the aforementioned reasons I didn’t like the book weren’t in the book, I would’ve read it much faster than I did。

literally best rom com ever

Wes is so loveable, yet I feel like I don't know him。 Painter made a terrible job in writing him as a real person。。。 Wes is so loveable, yet I feel like I don't know him。 Painter made a terrible job in writing him as a real person。。。 。。。more

wes。 wes。。。 WESSY。。。 i told myself i was never going to EVER use the term 'book boyfriend' because i'm ashamed to even utter those words BUT i fear that wes bennett has occupied my thoughts and is trapped in my brain like a caged animal。 this was so cute to the point where it was borderline painful at times because it made me realize how absolutely miserable i am (half-kidding)。 i, too, am just like liz in that i am a bit of a crazy romantic and i love making playlists and pretending i'm in a mo wes。 wes。。。 WESSY。。。 i told myself i was never going to EVER use the term 'book boyfriend' because i'm ashamed to even utter those words BUT i fear that wes bennett has occupied my thoughts and is trapped in my brain like a caged animal。 this was so cute to the point where it was borderline painful at times because it made me realize how absolutely miserable i am (half-kidding)。 i, too, am just like liz in that i am a bit of a crazy romantic and i love making playlists and pretending i'm in a movie and imagining the perfect soundtrack to accompany the current situation i'm in, however i'm afraid that those are our only similarities。 my very own version of wes could fix me though。 。。。more

such a cute book

A lovely YA rom-com that is a combination of two great tropes - friends to lovers and enemies to lovers。 The cute part is that throughout the story…。the main characters reference different tropes as applicable to their lives and rom com movies。 Fun quick read!

this book was not at all what i was expecting, in both good and bad ways。 first off, it was much more emotional than i thought it’d be, and made me cry so so so much。 secondly, i was expecting heaps upon heaps of romance, and i didn’t really get that。 i guess if i’d known it was a slow burn i wouldn’t be so disappointed, but i thought i’d be getting a feelings confession like halfway through and then just tons of fluff until the inevitable third act conflict。 so yeah, i’m kinda sad there wasn’t this book was not at all what i was expecting, in both good and bad ways。 first off, it was much more emotional than i thought it’d be, and made me cry so so so much。 secondly, i was expecting heaps upon heaps of romance, and i didn’t really get that。 i guess if i’d known it was a slow burn i wouldn’t be so disappointed, but i thought i’d be getting a feelings confession like halfway through and then just tons of fluff until the inevitable third act conflict。 so yeah, i’m kinda sad there wasn’t more lizwes content in this book, but they are a super cute couple。 i’m looking forward to the college road trip chapters! actual rating: 3。5⭐i'm not really a romance book reader, but i wanted to see the hype。 this was a just a random one i stumbled upon through a booktuber's recommendation。it wasn't the most groundbreaking but it was fun and easy to read。 i liked the banter between the main characters。 there were also a lot of silly laugh out loud moments。 but the book was very predictable??? idk。 i liked the ending though - super cute。 just not anything special。 actual rating: 3。5⭐i'm not really a romance book reader, but i wanted to see the hype。 this was a just a random one i stumbled upon through a booktuber's recommendation。it wasn't the most groundbreaking but it was fun and easy to read。 i liked the banter between the main characters。 there were also a lot of silly laugh out loud moments。 but the book was very predictable??? idk。 i liked the ending though - super cute。 just not anything special。 。。。more
