A metodologia do livro é muito bem abordada, explicada e organizada。 Embora muitas vezes alguns termos e exemplos sejam repetitivos。 A leitura no livro físico a partir de um momento já não estava me atraindo tanto, optei pelo áudio book e acompanhei pelo livro quando capítulos anteriores eram citados。É um excelente livro para quem quer começar a meditar a passos curtos。

Read this book for a class on Mindfulness。 Love the mediations that go with this book。 Glad that I purchased a copy of the book, so that I can pick it up and find sections as I need to read them again and again。 Very helpful way to live in the moment and enjoy it to its fullest, instead of worrying about the past or the future。 A very healthy way to live your life。

One of the best books I’ve read on mindfulness。 Simple, gentle, guidance on developing a mindfulness meditation practice。 Appreciated this so much I immediately bought the audio book on Mindfulness through Depression, which I think may be even better than this if one is struggling with the impact of depression, or like me, may be susceptible to bouts of depression。 Highly recommend。

I like the way this book explains Mindfulness。 Here it's presented as skills to re-orient your life so you can enjoy it。 It's meditations to focus your attention (your scattered mind), and to reduce anxiety and the spirals of thoughts and emotions that rob you of peace and enjoyment in life。 It separates feeling emotions from solving problems。 Allowing my butterfly brain (PG 87) to flit from thought to thought and following my stream of thoughts to discovery, rather than resisting or judging my I like the way this book explains Mindfulness。 Here it's presented as skills to re-orient your life so you can enjoy it。 It's meditations to focus your attention (your scattered mind), and to reduce anxiety and the spirals of thoughts and emotions that rob you of peace and enjoyment in life。 It separates feeling emotions from solving problems。 Allowing my butterfly brain (PG 87) to flit from thought to thought and following my stream of thoughts to discovery, rather than resisting or judging my lack of attention, helped me relax and stop trying to control my mind。 Thinking about thoughts as rumors (PG 139) or an event, and not truth, also gave me a new perspective on stopping thought spirals and self-criticism。 Practicing self-kindness during difficult times focuses on acceptance of pain rather than avoidance (PG 195)。 I definitely live in on autopilot and in doing-mode (PG 105) which is actually a type of problem avoidance。 This book definitely increased my awareness of my habits and it's given me more gentle, compassionate ways to handle my spiraling thoughts。Other programs introduced me to exercise as a tool so that has already helped me release tension。 And, I have done breathing exercises, body scans and the raisin meditation before。 In this program, the meditations to focus attention on breath or sounds (PG 146) helped bring awareness to tensions I hold in my body, but combining the meditations with habit releasers to stop my living on autopilot helped me more。 I felt more present and relaxed when I went through my day being aware of sounds or feelings during routine activities, or randomly changing habits like turning the TV off and filling my time with something else。I didn't get the full benefits this program intended because I didn't make the meditations a daily practice, but I did learn new skills for living my life in the moment。 Some of the habit releasers seemed too basic for me, but being kind to myself, being present enough to hear life's sounds, and gently following my stream of thoughts, rather than becoming frustrated over their distractions, are my takeaways from this book。 。。。more

this isn't your average hollow self-help book that just makes stuff up, they provide sources and the studies cited and used as a base were really solid, not to mention that some of the meditation technics actually helped me, not all were for me but there were so many that I think most people will find at least a few they like, mindfulness has proven psychological benefits and this book is a great introduction to it, (not to mention the prose makes it very easy to read)。 this isn't your average hollow self-help book that just makes stuff up, they provide sources and the studies cited and used as a base were really solid, not to mention that some of the meditation technics actually helped me, not all were for me but there were so many that I think most people will find at least a few they like, mindfulness has proven psychological benefits and this book is a great introduction to it, (not to mention the prose makes it very easy to read)。 。。。more

“The spirit in which you do something is often as important as the act itself。” I'm doing a mindfulness course at work and this book is recommended alongside it。 The first few chapters were revelatory for me, in regards to getting caught in negative thought patterns and spirals which leads to getting stuck in an emotional rut。 After that, the book shifts focus to more on a programme of mindfulness which had varying degrees of usefulness and ability to hold my interest。 Nonetheless, the book o “The spirit in which you do something is often as important as the act itself。” I'm doing a mindfulness course at work and this book is recommended alongside it。 The first few chapters were revelatory for me, in regards to getting caught in negative thought patterns and spirals which leads to getting stuck in an emotional rut。 After that, the book shifts focus to more on a programme of mindfulness which had varying degrees of usefulness and ability to hold my interest。 Nonetheless, the book overall is pretty great but limited in its scope。 I can't see any reason to pick this book up unless you're doing the course which it accompanies。 。。。more
