Summary

The 6:20 Man is a heart-racing thriller set in the world of high finance in New York, from the number one bestselling author David Baldacci。

A journey that took him to hell 。 。 。

Having survived combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq and been decorated with medals, Travis Devine mysteriously leaves the Army under a cloud of suspicion。 And at thirty-two years old, he’s swapping fighting the Taliban and Al Qaeda for a different kind of danger in the cut-throat world of high finance。

His daily commute on the 6。20 a。m。 train into New York’s financial district, to his new job as an analyst at the minted powerhouse investment bank Cowl and Comely, takes him into a world where greed, power, jealousy and ambition result in the financial abuse of the masses and the enrichment of an elite few。 But it is on this daily journey that he passes a house where he sees something that sounds alarm signals he cannot ignore。

A close friend of Devine’s, Sarah Ewes, is the first victim and the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death at Cowl and Comely compel him to investigate further。 As he digs deeper, he discovers strange coincidences and unnerving truths。 As the deaths pile up, and the major players show their hands, he must question who he can trust and who he must fight。

The 6:20 ManThis was definitely a thriller! I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, from the first page to the last。 Hope to hear more about Mr。 Devine。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Enjoyed this fast ride of a story all the way to the end when the intrigue gave way to a soap opera-ish verging on ludicrous ending。 Sorry but the twisted romance gone wrong ending was ott silly and usually Baldacci does a lot better than that。。 I really liked the new protagonist and his chance at redemption with the General opens lots of possibilities for new stories。 Just hoping for less of the murderous lesbians and more of the political thriller。。

🎧AUDIOBOOK REVIEW🎧As always, David Baldacci delivers another fast paced thriller。 Narration was superb。 I only gave this 4 stars because I felt the ending was a little all over the place。 Lots of characters to keep up with had my head spinning。 Usually when I read a book it’s not as much of an issue。 Listening to a book I have to pay closer attention to。 Love the way he writes。 Auto buy。

I sincerely hope that this book turns into a series!

I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for an advance copy of The 6:20 Man, a stand-alone thriller set in New York。Travis Devine, a decorated hero, has left the army for an entry level job at financial powerhouse Cowl & Comely。 The why of this is murky, but a shady government department is going to take advantage of this to co-opt him into their investigation of Cowl & Comely。 He is more interested in the death of Sara Ewes, a coworker and friend and sees intersections between investi I would like to thank Netgalley and Pan Macmillan for an advance copy of The 6:20 Man, a stand-alone thriller set in New York。Travis Devine, a decorated hero, has left the army for an entry level job at financial powerhouse Cowl & Comely。 The why of this is murky, but a shady government department is going to take advantage of this to co-opt him into their investigation of Cowl & Comely。 He is more interested in the death of Sara Ewes, a coworker and friend and sees intersections between investigations。I thoroughly enjoyed The 6:20 Man, so called because that is the time of Travis’s train on his daily commute where he thinks things over and sees something strange daily。 I have been having concentration issues, but not with this novel, in fact I got quite grumpy when pulled away from it, so I think I can safely call it absorbing。The plot is a bit slow to start, apart from Sara’s death, but I think this is necessary to set the scene, get the reader used to Travis’s ways and character and introduce a few anomalies and unusual events to get the reader’s brain cells and curiosity working。 I was hooked with questions and puzzles and never stopped trying to work it out, until I was blindsided by the solution。 Once it gets going, however, the read is a cracker with tension, danger, twists and a lack of trust。 I never stopped wanting to know what was coming next。I won’t pretend to understand what Wall Street banks do, but I think the author has it right for readers like me (uninformed and innately distrustful of such institutions) with broad brushstrokes on the finance and a few sideswipes at the exploitative nature of working there。 I also think he is bang on the money about what the rich can do with it and how it shapes American values。I like Travis Devine and would gladly read more about his exploits。 He is a Jack Reacheresque character with fighting skills and the intelligence to figure out what to do in tricky situations, albeit without the nomadic existence。 He doesn’t always get it right but he’s a fast learner and his heart is in the right place。The 6:20 Man is a good read that I have no hesitation in recommending。 。。。more

Travis Devine is an ex-Army Ranger going to work on the 6:20 train at an investment firm。 There is a murder at the firm which turns out to be a girl he had a relationship with。 There is action from the beginning to the end with so many twists and turns。 This is a new character for Baldacci and as in true form for him and I hope he continues with a new series。

I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like this story, even though it was written by one of my favorite authors。 However, the more I read, the more I wanted to read to find out "who done it"。 There are a lot of characters in this story so keep track of each one as you read; and there are several scenarios going on at the same time that did catch and keep my attention。 Although it is a stand alone story at this time, I can foresee the main character, Travis Devine, becoming a series。 I wasn't sure at first if I was going to like this story, even though it was written by one of my favorite authors。 However, the more I read, the more I wanted to read to find out "who done it"。 There are a lot of characters in this story so keep track of each one as you read; and there are several scenarios going on at the same time that did catch and keep my attention。 Although it is a stand alone story at this time, I can foresee the main character, Travis Devine, becoming a series。 。。。more

The 620 ManThis novel was quite a read。 To me it was a bit unlike some other books that I have read。 The ending was very unusual and not just what I was expecting。 I enjoyed the story and I also learned a few things as it relates to the financial community。I do hope that you enjoy it as well。

A good read with a decent plot。 He could have done better with the climax though, it seemed like he had to hurry his writing towards the end of this book。 The possibilities of what the build up could have lead to were endless however the line of though he chose seemed to me a little odd。 Not disappointed with the book but not fascinated by it either。

Baldacci has nailed another main character with a compelling backstory, a wide range of useful skillsets, along with the gumption to put himself into the thick of things。 There's quite a bit of indirect and unflattering commentary on Wall Street。 The high tech sector also has a prominent role。 Good / bad guys and gals are mostly up in the air until nearly the very end。 Lastly, it would seem that Devine has a new career path that promises plenty of future installments。 Baldacci has nailed another main character with a compelling backstory, a wide range of useful skillsets, along with the gumption to put himself into the thick of things。 There's quite a bit of indirect and unflattering commentary on Wall Street。 The high tech sector also has a prominent role。 Good / bad guys and gals are mostly up in the air until nearly the very end。 Lastly, it would seem that Devine has a new career path that promises plenty of future installments。 。。。more

This is my Summer of thrillers。 Started out listening to this on Audible and then had to finish it in hard copy。 Quite a twist in the end。 Never suspected the killer。 Great job。

Quite enjoyable and the pages fly by! Started out as one thing and morphed into another but was a little too “I’m going to detail my sinister plans in a monologue” by the ending - did the author get tired of writing? I thought the way DB slid in the money laundering/foreign ties/business/conman scheme was brilliant: a scathing commentary on a fictionalized Trump caricature。 Four stars。

Another Baldacci Hit!A fast-paced mystery in the world of dark money & electronic trading that introduces a new hero, and maybe the beginning of a new series? I always enjoy David Baldacci's books。 He keeps you guessing from beginning to end as well as subtly throwing in current issues about our country's political and social views。 He leaves it up to you to form your own views。 I also loved his new character, Travis Devine。 I would love to read more books about this character as well as Michelle Montgomery and Emerson Campbell。 I always enjoy David Baldacci's books。 He keeps you guessing from beginning to end as well as subtly throwing in current issues about our country's political and social views。 He leaves it up to you to form your own views。 I also loved his new character, Travis Devine。 I would love to read more books about this character as well as Michelle Montgomery and Emerson Campbell。 。。。more

Travis is a former Army Ranger who ran from that career to be a too old entry level stock。 Everyday he takes the 6:20 train into Manhattan to a job he hates, but does as penance for a previous action while he was in uniform。 It starts out with an ex lover at the firm commuting suicide and Travis receiving an odd email regarding the suicide right after she does。 As Travis investigates, the case seems to be more than just a simple suicide and Travis is drawn in。 I thought this book was expertly wr Travis is a former Army Ranger who ran from that career to be a too old entry level stock。 Everyday he takes the 6:20 train into Manhattan to a job he hates, but does as penance for a previous action while he was in uniform。 It starts out with an ex lover at the firm commuting suicide and Travis receiving an odd email regarding the suicide right after she does。 As Travis investigates, the case seems to be more than just a simple suicide and Travis is drawn in。 I thought this book was expertly written by Mr。 Baldacci and Travis is an excellent new character to add to the stable。 There were a good number of twists and turns in the book to always keep you guessing。 The pace of the story was fast, and I always wanted to read just a little more before putting it down。 I am looking forward to another book in this series from Mr。 Baldacci。 If your a thriller fan this book is well worth your time。 。。。more
