Summary

Welcome to Spooky Season!! The follow-up to Erin Sterling’s New York Times bestselling hit The Ex Hex features fan favorite Gwyn and the spine-tinglingly handsome Wells Penhallow as they battle a new band of witches and their own magical chemistry。

Gwyn Jones is perfectly happy with her life in Graves Glen。 She, her mom, and her cousin have formed a new and powerful coven; she’s running a successful witchcraft shop, Something Wicked; and she’s started mentoring some of the younger witches in town。 As Halloween approaches, there’s only one problem—Llewellyn “Wells” Penhallow。

Wells has come to Graves Glen to re-establish his family’s connection to the town they founded as well as to make a new life for himself after years of being the dutiful son in Wales。 When he opens up a shop of his own, Penhallow’s, just across the street from Something Wicked, he quickly learns he’s gotten more than he bargained for in going up against Gwyn。

When their professional competition leads to a very personal—and very hot—kiss, both Wells and Gwyn are determined to stay away from each other, convinced the kiss was just a magical fluke。 But when a mysterious new coven of witches come to town and Gwyn’s powers begin fading, she and Wells must work together to figure out just what these new witches want and how to restore Gwyn’s magic before it’s too late。

An amazing enemies to lovers rom-com! Gwyn and Wells had great banter and chemistry with just the right amount of spice。 I loved everything about their relationship, especially how it all got started。 Sterling managed to make this book better than the Ex-Hex, which I didn’t think was possible。 I definitely hope that there are more books set in this world!Thank you Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!

The chemistry between Gwen and Wells is one of my favorite I’ve read in a long time! Then you add in Halloween-witchy vibes and this book was truly a delight to read。 Every page keeps you wanting to read more。 I loved that this book was about Vivi’s spunky cousin Gwen。 After reading the first book I wanted to know more about her and was excited to see her perspective in this book。 It was also nice to see more of Rhy’s brothers, especially Wells。 This book is perfect romance for Summer-ween!

I find that I often give four stars to romance books I love because they're not as deep and life changing as my other five-star reads, but in terms of romance novels this is perfect, so it's getting five。 The Kiss Curse follows characters from the Ex Hex, Gwyn (Viv's cousin) and Wells (Rhys' brother)。 It has the same fun halloween vibe as the Ex Hex and honestly follows a very similar formula as Vivi's and Rhys' love story。 It addresses Gwyn's bisexuality, and has a diverse cast of characters (r I find that I often give four stars to romance books I love because they're not as deep and life changing as my other five-star reads, but in terms of romance novels this is perfect, so it's getting five。 The Kiss Curse follows characters from the Ex Hex, Gwyn (Viv's cousin) and Wells (Rhys' brother)。 It has the same fun halloween vibe as the Ex Hex and honestly follows a very similar formula as Vivi's and Rhys' love story。 It addresses Gwyn's bisexuality, and has a diverse cast of characters (relative to the genre at least)。 As a lesbian do I wish Gwyn had ended up with a woman? A little bit。 Will I get over it? Yep!This series is so cozy, it offers the same comfort as curling up on the couch every year to watch Halloweentown。 You're dropped into a familiar place and story, then given a beautiful and believable romance。 The dialogue is snappy and funny, and had me laughing out loud。 "。。。and Gwyn had no doubt that whoever he was, his ancestors had absolutely once stared down the business end of a guillotine。 You didn't get cheekbones like that without oppressing some peasants。" I MEAN。。LMAO。One of the best things about it, and one of the things that most often turns me off of romance, is that the sex scenes, while quite spicy by my standards, AREN'T CRINGEY!!! THANK YOU!!! Anyways, I don't know if there's another book planned in this universe that I love so much, but I hope there is。 It's impossible not to fall in love with Sterling's side characters (like the baby witches)。 If there is another, you'll see me here again。 Thanks so much to Avon Books and NetGalley for the digital ARC! 。。。more

It's probably not a 5-star book, but I loved the great, snarky banter; the fun characters, especially the baby witches and the werewolf brother (please tell me there will be a book about him); and the charming, quirky little town and college。 I am one of those annoying people who often loves every book they read and has to let it sink in a bit before I can give a clear-headed review, but where is the fun of that?I received an advance reader copy through Edelweiss。 The Kiss Curse will be released It's probably not a 5-star book, but I loved the great, snarky banter; the fun characters, especially the baby witches and the werewolf brother (please tell me there will be a book about him); and the charming, quirky little town and college。 I am one of those annoying people who often loves every book they read and has to let it sink in a bit before I can give a clear-headed review, but where is the fun of that?I received an advance reader copy through Edelweiss。 The Kiss Curse will be released on September 20, 2022。 。。。more

I lived for Well’s and Gwyn’s banter, and loved their buckets of deep seated tension! The bad first meeting- to reluctant allies- to lovers was adorable。 I loved how Well’s first thought about Gwyn was, damn this lady is hot and its such a shame she hates me。 Amazing。 I also enjoyed getting to see more of the Penhallow’s dynamics, especially between the brothers。 Definitely hope the third brother gets his own book! I am a sucker for enemies to lovers and this book delivers on that in a really big way。 Our two MC’s have SO much chemistry and once they finally break down and admit that they want each other the romance is absolutely electric!

This was such a cute romance to get me in the mood for Halloween。 I love that there were major themes outside of the love story, and that characters from the last book make an appearance。 Overall, I loved the romance tropes in this novel, including my favorite- enemies to lovers。 And, I love the banter that the characters have。 It was super cute and I could not even put this book down!

Cute sequel。 Loved Gwen and Wells and how they got together - a little enemies to lovers trope。 Wished there had been more of Elaine and Vivi, but loved the intro to the “baby witches” on a more in depth level。 Hope Bowden gets a book of his own next!

Anyways, I loved this book and I can't wait for the next one in the series! 。。。more

Having dutifully tended bar in his family’s generations-old pub in Wales, Wells Penhallow has to finally acknowledge that the establishment is all but dead。 Where better to start anew than Graves Glen, Georgia, where his family also has deep roots? It doesn’t hurt that his father, who Wells is inexplicably loyal to, is also keen on the move。 Gwyn just wants to run her witchy store when another one opens across the street, sparking an instant rivalry between her and the new proprietor… Wells。 And of course, an instant (and shocking) attraction blooms between Wells and Gwyn。 Enemies to lovers, anyone? Some other highlights: glitter, baby witches, and even more of the Halloween-themed atmosphere that made me fall in love with this series initially。 The romance was spicy , grumpy/sunshine, and ultimately so sweet。 Gwyn begins to embrace her legacy, and Wells really grows into who he could be outside of Wales and his family’s shadow。 Sir Purrcival and I give this FIVE STARS for romance, sweetness, and pure humor! I also liked seeing more of Bowen, and hope he’s featured next in the series。 If you haven't picked this series up yet, what are you waiting for? 。。。more

Told in third person dual point of view from protagonists Wells and Gwyn, I enjoyed revisiting the secret magical town of Graves Glen。 I actually liked this much more than The Ex Hex。 Gwyn is so personable and her antagonism for Wells wasn’t over the top for me。 I love a good “hate” competition and this one was more good-hearted than vengeful。 I found Wells interesting as he tried to find his place in life out from under his father’s watchful eye。 The baby witches were fun and adventurous。 I tho Told in third person dual point of view from protagonists Wells and Gwyn, I enjoyed revisiting the secret magical town of Graves Glen。 I actually liked this much more than The Ex Hex。 Gwyn is so personable and her antagonism for Wells wasn’t over the top for me。 I love a good “hate” competition and this one was more good-hearted than vengeful。 I found Wells interesting as he tried to find his place in life out from under his father’s watchful eye。 The baby witches were fun and adventurous。 I thought Bowen, another Penhallow brother and mountain hermit was hilarious and I hope he’s going to get a book next。 The story was enjoyable and even held a few surprises for me although I did guess what was going on with Gwyn’s magic a little early on。 Looking forward to the next in this series。 Thank you to Netgalley and Avon Books for the free copy provided for an honest review。 。。。more

The first three quarters didn't have a ton of plot, mostly just focusing on the two leads relationship and chemistry, but I don't see that as a bad thing。 Gwyn and Wells are both lovably flawed and it was a pleasure to watch them butt heads and fall in love。 Overall this book was cute, steamy, a little cheesy, and just a really enjoyable read set in a little witchy magical town。 The first three quarters didn't have a ton of plot, mostly just focusing on the two leads relationship and chemistry, but I don't see that as a bad thing。 Gwyn and Wells are both lovably flawed and it was a pleasure to watch them butt heads and fall in love。 Overall this book was cute, steamy, a little cheesy, and just a really enjoyable read set in a little witchy magical town。 。。。more
