Summary

Teddy Fitzroy returns as FunJungle’s resident sleuth to solve the disappearances of endangered bison and an irreplaceable necklace。

Teddy Fitzroy, his family, and some other FunJungle employees have been invited to visit a bison ranch just outside Yellowstone National Park that FunJungle’s owner, J。J。 McCracken, is considering purchasing。 But as usual, trouble isn’t far behind。

The ranch’s endangered bison have been mysteriously disappearing。 Then a massive local grizzly bear named Sasquatch breaks into the house, causing chaos。 In the aftermath, Kandace McCracken discovers that her exceptionally expensive sapphire necklace has vanished。

Was it stolen? Or did Sasquatch eat it? (And if so, can it be recovered?) And what’s been happening to the bison?

With over a dozen suspects, it’s up to Teddy to detangle this hairy situation, before his family or friends—or any more expensive objects—become dinner。

Teddy thinks not。 This is one of the BEST FunJungle novels in my humble opinion。 While it wasn’t at FunJungle itself, there was so much information and the mystery was so tantalizing (and let’s be real, how much more drama can happen at FunJungle before it’s not believable?)。 From a teaching perspective, I’m really considering incorporating this book into either a social studies or science unit。 The book talks about multiple Native American tribes in detail, as well as the way that they used bison to survive。 This is a good lead into learning about them。 It also discusses how removing a certain keystone species ca leave whole ecosystems crumbling - a great way to get kids learning about ecosystems。 And even if I don’t incorporate it into teaching, kids reading this will still learn a little about these things。 Absolutely need this for your kids or classroom。 。。。more

Not as Funny as Lion Down but as Important I loved Lion Down and wanted another funny romp but this wasn't as that。 It hit on some more serious issues but was still really fun。 I'm looking forward to more books in this series。 Not as Funny as Lion Down but as Important I loved Lion Down and wanted another funny romp but this wasn't as that。 It hit on some more serious issues but was still really fun。 I'm looking forward to more books in this series。 。。。more

I love this series, and this book is no exception。 Teddy and the gang go to Yellowstone which allows for a wild grizzly bear and a buffalo herd to feature prominently。 If you aren't pitching these books to animal lovers and mystery fans alike, you are missing out! I did not expect a bear in the house, but that's only the beginning of the fun in this fast-paced FunJungle book that takes place on a ranch near Yellowstone National Park - site of a possible new FunJungle theme park。 And Teddy is definitely on the case, tracking the bear and some bison thieves。 I did not expect a bear in the house, but that's only the beginning of the fun in this fast-paced FunJungle book that takes place on a ranch near Yellowstone National Park - site of a possible new FunJungle theme park。 And Teddy is definitely on the case, tracking the bear and some bison thieves。 。。。more

Let me start by saying we love and purchase everything by Stuart Gibbs, especially in the Fun Jungle series。 I did appreciate, in the author's note in the back, that he felt he had to take Teddy and Summer's mis-adventures with wildlife out of the zoo / theme park or the state of Texas would shut it down for good。 I was kinda wondering the same thing, after Lion Down。This location -- next to Yellowstone -- is ideal to attract tourons (tourist morons) to a low-key (for now -- with JJ you can neve Let me start by saying we love and purchase everything by Stuart Gibbs, especially in the Fun Jungle series。 I did appreciate, in the author's note in the back, that he felt he had to take Teddy and Summer's mis-adventures with wildlife out of the zoo / theme park or the state of Texas would shut it down for good。 I was kinda wondering the same thing, after Lion Down。This location -- next to Yellowstone -- is ideal to attract tourons (tourist morons) to a low-key (for now -- with JJ you can never be sure) theme-park type attraction of Native American wildlife。This time, Teddy and Summer are at a bison ranch outside Yellowstone National park that JJ is thinking of buying。 Ok, he just needs a tiny bit of persuasion to buy it。 He's inclined to purchase it, as it's the place he bought an enormous sapphire for his wife for a pittance from a Native resident who didn't know the true value of what he had。 JJ swindled the kid。 The jewel is now worth millions。His wife wears it to the lodge。 The sapphire goes missing almost immediately, after a grizzly bear enters the lodge / house looking for food。 Teddy suspects the bear's been "baited," or led into the house with vanilla in raw hamburger。The search for the bear (a rather huge, distinctive beast named Sasquatch) leads to JJ and Summer sparking a bison stampede with their helicopter。 There consequently is a scene with Teddy on his stomach clinging desperately to the backend of a horse that kept us laughing, bent over double, for … gosh, I don't know how long。 Best highlight of the book! Of any book I think I've read in the last 4 years!Several bison on the ranch have disappeared as well。 They're being rustled, or stolen, too。 But how does a several-ton animal just go poof!? You'd need a very large vehicle, a mammoth of a vehicle, to transport one stealthily。 And a vehicle that wouldn't stand out, like huge semi-trailer truck。 And probably it would only work if the bison involved was not upset。Gee, I wonder what kind of vehicle that describes, with thousands of them driving all around Yellowstone…I will say no more, for fear of spoiling it for readers!Teddy is on both cases, and I look forward to (maybe?) more animal mishaps and mysteries in Yellowstone。Looking for more book suggestions for your 7th/8th grade classroom and students? My boys and I have loved all the FunJungle books (and the Spy School and Space Case series!) - but we all agree this sacrificed his usual plot and humor at the altar of teaching us all Valuable Lessons。 I want to be told a story in the book that lets me think about things in a new way, not be preached to at every opportunity。

3。5- Good mystery。 This one focuses a little more on ecopolitical matters。 Also, some of the characters went way past ridiculous with their actions, so much so that it seemed out of character for them IMO (specifically JJ McCracken)。 And I get why Pete Thwacker came along on the trip, but he really didn't need to be there。 I don't remember any major scenes involving him, so maybe he was another body for Teddy to suspect? Am I glad I read it? Yes。 These books are always entertaining。 However, it' 3。5- Good mystery。 This one focuses a little more on ecopolitical matters。 Also, some of the characters went way past ridiculous with their actions, so much so that it seemed out of character for them IMO (specifically JJ McCracken)。 And I get why Pete Thwacker came along on the trip, but he really didn't need to be there。 I don't remember any major scenes involving him, so maybe he was another body for Teddy to suspect? My daughter and I absolutely love the FunJungle series。 They are super cute, creative and entertaining。 We never know what kind of trouble Teddy and the main characters will get into and what mystery they will solve。 A must read YA for upper elementary and lower middle school levels。 Parents will love it too。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Let me start by saying how great Bear Bottom was。 Teddy had to solve two mysteries。 Even though a sasquatch broke into the ranch house and J。J got trapped in a underground mine they still were able to solve both mysteries

I loved this so much! This is for those who want an easy read with a light mystery。 The book informs you of animals that need saving while making the read funny and engaging。 The reason I love this series so much is that Gibbs spreads awareness of all these animals that are endangered and need our support-- and does this by creating a nice setting and light mystery。I also loved the representation I got to see in this book! I do like this series。 The continuation of Gibbs having a male protagonist is a little off-putting, but that is my only complaint。 This one is set off the park in Yellowstone, which is where my family was vacationing while I read this。 That made it extra enjoyable。

Though the narrating style and plot devices are consistent, these stories are also consistently engaging since you can try to solve the mystery as you read。 The different setting was interesting。 Instead of being reintroduced to FunJungle as they unveil a brand new plot-convenient exhibit, this story takes you to a bison ranch near Yellowstone。 My favorite character was the bear, but the human ones are well written too, in a way that makes it easy to imagine what their motives could be if they t Though the narrating style and plot devices are consistent, these stories are also consistently engaging since you can try to solve the mystery as you read。 The different setting was interesting。 Instead of being reintroduced to FunJungle as they unveil a brand new plot-convenient exhibit, this story takes you to a bison ranch near Yellowstone。 My favorite character was the bear, but the human ones are well written too, in a way that makes it easy to imagine what their motives could be if they turned out to be the perpetrator。 (And one of my many guesses was close-to-right!) The full reveal at the end was mildly upsetting, but I understand the author's intentions。 It's Stuart Gibbs! Educating his readers trumps telling a more "realistic" story。 。。。more

Less satisfying mystery and resolution。 Hunting the bear felt bizarre since you never really believe it has the necklace。 The reveal felt sudden, the timeframe too compact。 Time to get back to Fun Jungle。

The story Bear Bottom is man versus man。 In the tale, Teddy is forced to solve a mystery about a man stealing the local rancher's bison。 This shows man versus man because man versus man is a problem between 2 different characters and their ideas。 Teddy wants to know who the bison thief is, and the bison thief wants to stay hidden。 This shows 2 characters (Teddy and the bison thief) having different conflicting ideas in the book。 The story Bear Bottom is man versus man。 In the tale, Teddy is forced to solve a mystery about a man stealing the local rancher's bison。 This shows man versus man because man versus man is a problem between 2 different characters and their ideas。 Teddy wants to know who the bison thief is, and the bison thief wants to stay hidden。 This shows 2 characters (Teddy and the bison thief) having different conflicting ideas in the book。 。。。more

Stuart Gibbs is the author of the FunJungle series。 In this book, Teddy Fitzroy is invited - with his family and some of their FunJungle employees - to a bison ranch near Yellowstone National Park。 While there, a robbery of a very expensive necklace occurs, and bison are disappearing from ranches and the park。 Teddy is young but he has keen investigative instincts。 He is drawn into the mysteries, dangerous situations, and excitement。 Great story。
