Summary

DNF this book。 The author definitely can write a lot of words with no action 。 I reached half the story and decided that my time on earth was more valuable。 I could have easily removed half of the pages and we will miss nothing from the story。

this book reads like it was written by a fourteen year old who just discovered romance books。 it feels performative and stereotypical and childish。 the smut is the only good thing about it and even that isn't that great。 the premise of the book is the only semi-interesting thing about this book but it's done poorly。 would not recommend this to anyone with taste。 this book reads like it was written by a fourteen year old who just discovered romance books。 it feels performative and stereotypical and childish。 the smut is the only good thing about it and even that isn't that great。 the premise of the book is the only semi-interesting thing about this book but it's done poorly。 would not recommend this to anyone with taste。 。。。more

A great enemies to lovers story。 I took me a little while to get into as the start was definitely a bit slow, but after they went to Spain together I really fell in love with the love interests。

Idania

This book is the love I strive to have。 The characters were amazing and showed true love!

I don’t even remember when I exactly read this book (sometime in May。 I know it took me almost two weeks) I just remember wanting to be done with it

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I am no expert on reading any genre but when it comes to a romantic trope, I have the most to say。 First things first, the few beginning chapters bore me to death。 There was too much inner monologue of this girl who I actually thought was closer to 25 for some reason however later revealed closer to 30 which next thought, she was way too cringey for her age。 She reminded of me because I’m a literal teen。 Her lines were way too cringey for me to completely read a book in one night as I’ve done fo I am no expert on reading any genre but when it comes to a romantic trope, I have the most to say。 First things first, the few beginning chapters bore me to death。 There was too much inner monologue of this girl who I actually thought was closer to 25 for some reason however later revealed closer to 30 which next thought, she was way too cringey for her age。 She reminded of me because I’m a literal teen。 Her lines were way too cringey for me to completely read a book in one night as I’ve done for others I’ve enjoyed。 She was much of a hesitant person which was understanding for most ports due to her trauma in Spain which caused her to leave and travel to New York but there were some cases that weren’t necessarily needed of trust but just words and even then she struggled to say it to her love interest when he completely said and did with actions of how much she can come to trust him for a bit more than she expected。 I was not a fan of the backgrounds of both characters, when it was revealed that she left Spain because of an incident of love that was due to some sort of complication of a boss? And employee relationship, the reveal that he was her teacher actually blew me away because I didn’t see that in a story spent in Spain but she hints casually throughout the book it wasn’t just the relationship but also the people there。 I thought they were on the ex daniels side and completely shunned her for even having that relationship much to a western point of view, but the pity aspect ,its relatable for sure and the rumors of course come with it but I felt like it was anti-climactic especially the family’s input of the book was strangely out of touch with me。 While they showed the comfort of a big family I also felt there was a neglectful aspect on family in concern of her relationship as much as I wished they did, it would have been such a relatable topic with my own family being Hispanic。 And the ending was some what too basic and already done in a hallmark Christmas movie that it frustrated me that I even read it。 Again I think majority of the breakdown would be 1。) the wedding (which was actually enjoyable) 2。) catalina being Aarons date to the fundraising event。 That second part took a bunch of time which was important to start opening Aaron as a character but not nearly done in the way it should have。 They made a bunch of descriptive comments on how much of a bachelor he is and how he finally smiles but we could have taken that time to build something more to the characters background or even character traits themselves because while he smiled for the first time which was shocking to Catalina, i mean seriously stone cold to smile is all it took for her to be smitten with this new side… I wanted more perhaps even a line he could have brought out to show he was interested much quicker than the slow burn but it that’s a genre in itself too。 While i critique as much as I do above, I also know, that I will read any book and like it somewhat。 I have yet to hate a book for a reason especially if involving romance! I love romance so much that the cringiest lines drive me crazy wanting more。 I am a romantic and will excuse any worthy critiques。 Which is why I place the reading at 3 stars。 It was good! Was it better than anything I’ve read before? No。 But it doesn’t deserve any less of a three for that。 It still brought me some good reading moments that I will cherish through my highlights and notes on it。 I wish Aaron was seen a bit more relatable, i know his stone cold attitude and the transformation was seen quite quickly, remember this is Catalinas POV and she only recalls how much input he’s done since he’s met her much later in the book。 And yet, the first time he says “baby” i was quite confused from the switch in language in a personal conversation when they knew they were in a gray zone of pretend and real。 However, Aaron of course in my mind id drop dead gorgeous and the spicy scenes were not a let down but of course I do think if i had a thesaurus i could find better descriptions instead of repeating how his jaw locks in and out。 This whole review should not be trusted because im a flip flopped and a hater combined in any media i get into。 This is my review after an hour of finishing the book sos hope you enjoyed。 。。。more

Did the editor die on the first day of the job and then no replacement was ever found? Because WHY WAS IT SO DAMN LONG THERE WAS SO MUCH UNNECESSARY DETAIL!!!! Also the bullshit writing of ‘people close to her can borderline read her mind’。 Is that not just lazy writing for communication like COME ON! This could have been 300-350 pages MAXIMUM。 For shame to everyone that hyped this book up it was a pain to read。 Someone said it was like the hating game but worse and that sounds about right。 And Did the editor die on the first day of the job and then no replacement was ever found? Like ok yes I understand this is fiction and it don’t have to realistic but this was like…。beyond what would happen in real life。 I have never forced myself to finish a book faster so I could write a violent review。 。。。more

5 stars。 Bitch。 This stuff was GOOD。 Everything you want in a romance with none of the bull! Big big fan。 Oh my。

They were two major events in this book: the Wedding and the Open Day, and they skipped those like it was nothing! Also why did the author skip every spicey scene just when things got interesting?BTW, this could literally pass as a bad Twillight Fanficton!

I really liked this book, I liked the characters and the chemistry of Lina and Aaron。 I was missing some extreme plot though and I would have liked a scene about the event Aaron and Lina were planning together。 But if you’d like a good read for your summer vacation I’d definitely recommend it ;)

Well, I'm very disappointed。 I was expecting so much from this book, and I ended up disliking the characters, hating their relationship, and not even laughing to the jokes (and that's very sad)。I wouldn't say this book is deeply bad or problematic, just that I didn't like it。 Catalina was too brainless and willpower-less to me, and Aaron was a bit too possessive and brusque, and not always respectful。 The book was also a bit too long I think, which bored me all the more so。 I guess I'll be on my Well, I'm very disappointed。 I was expecting so much from this book, and I ended up disliking the characters, hating their relationship, and not even laughing to the jokes (and that's very sad)。I wouldn't say this book is deeply bad or problematic, just that I didn't like it。 Catalina was too brainless and willpower-less to me, and Aaron was a bit too possessive and brusque, and not always respectful。 The book was also a bit too long I think, which bored me all the more so。 I guess I'll be on my way to find another rom-com to comfort me。 。。。more

I was so frustrated from the lack of chemistry btw the leads from the beginning-middle-ish of the book but then BAM literally becomes intoxicating。 Like。 Idk if it was deliberate but if it was then Armas must be a genius。 That’s some reader manipulation shiz for sure cos like, I was GENUINELY worried for the main couple。 Good on them。 ALSO in the middle I was worried that they were “happy” too early and stuff cos there was literally a fistful of pages left to read? anxiety was brrrrrr to the b。 I was so frustrated from the lack of chemistry btw the leads from the beginning-middle-ish of the book but then BAM literally becomes intoxicating。 Like。 Idk if it was deliberate but if it was then Armas must be a genius。 That’s some reader manipulation shiz for sure cos like, I was GENUINELY worried for the main couple。 Good on them。 ALSO in the middle I was worried that they were “happy” too early and stuff cos there was literally a fistful of pages left to read? anxiety was brrrrrr to the b。 Bro I actually couldn’t stand some parts of the book。 Like the way they converse do be like super like low-key high-key WEIRD ASSSSS AND AS WEIRD AS it can get like idk。 No comment。 Wholesome ending kinda saved it tho。 U r somewhat redeemed:P Couldn't help but notice the story was inextricably similar to Thornes's 'The hating game' but like way better。 。。。more

2。5 StarsThis would've been an easy 4-4。5 star book except for one thing: too much inner monologue。 I couldn't take it。 Lina wasn't so bad or annoying if I wasn't in her head for so long。 Half of it could've been taken out and it would've been an easier read。 I had to stop reading after a couple of pages, I couldn't be in her head for so long。 Being Hispanic myself, I really liked reading about a Hispanic MC。 I enjoyed reading her saying mierda when things were going wrong or just saying Spanish 2。5 StarsThis would've been an easy 4-4。5 star book except for one thing: too much inner monologue。 I couldn't take it。 Lina wasn't so bad or annoying if I wasn't in her head for so long。 Half of it could've been taken out and it would've been an easier read。 I had to stop reading after a couple of pages, I couldn't be in her head for so long。 Being Hispanic myself, I really liked reading about a Hispanic MC。 I enjoyed reading her saying mierda when things were going wrong or just saying Spanish things in general。 The gossiping, meddling family was spot on for typical Hispanics。 It was fun and a change of the usual。 There was only one issue I had with it。 Some Spanish words have different meaning in different countries。 In Spain, bollito is a little bun。 But where I come from, it's slang for a very different thing: a female body part。 So every time Aaron called Lina bollito, to me, he was calling her little p**sy。 lmaoOverall, it's not a bad story。 I enjoyed the story, if not all the writing。 I heard after I started reading that this will be a movie。 I will watch it。 I think it can maybe be a better movie than book if done right。 。。。more

I got this book after seeing it as the most recommended book and top list on Goodreads。 Man, I was so wrong in buying it。 It wasnt an enemy - lover troop。 Catalina's character was so annoying from the beginning。 Unnecessary characters was introduced into this book for no reason。 For them to reach the destination took so long。 We hardly saw anything related to the wedding!!! I was literally skipping some pages 。 And the ending was rushed off。 Seriously, it was too boring reading this book。 Sigh。 I got this book after seeing it as the most recommended book and top list on Goodreads。 Man, I was so wrong in buying it。 It wasnt an enemy - lover troop。 Catalina's character was so annoying from the beginning。 Unnecessary characters was introduced into this book for no reason。 For them to reach the destination took so long。 We hardly saw anything related to the wedding!!! I absolutely loved Aaron Blackford- I mean, this book。 It was such a well written slow burn, he falls first, enemies to lovers romance and I ate it up。 The characters were so well developed and the worldbuilding was immaculate。 IMMACULATE!
