Summary

Six friends。

One college reunion。

One unsolved murder。

Ten years after graduation, Jessica Miller has been invited back to her university for a reunion and she is obsessed with dazzling everyone with her beauty and success。 This time when they see her, it has to be perfect because she is perfect。 Not the girl she was when she left campus, back when Heather Shelby’s murder fractured everything, including the tight bond linking the six friends she’d been closest to since freshman year。

But there’s more at stake than the delicious envy of her peers—not everyone is ready to move on。 Not everyone can let Heather’s murder go unsolved。 In fact, someone has orchestrated the whole weekend to trap the real killer。 As the weekend unfolds and they get closer to the truth, the group finds there was more than murder hidden amongst them on campus。

Told in racing dual timelines, with a dark campus setting and a darker look at friendship, love, obsession and ambition, In My Dreams I Hold a Knife is an addictive, propulsive millennial thriller you won’t be able to put down。

The ending shocked me more than the rest of the book

Overall: Hella enjoyed my time with this one, felt satisified with the ultimate reveal and conclusion- everything made sense and wasn't just done as a ~twist ending~What's keeping this from being a five star for me is how the characters are written in the present, in their thirties。 I can't decide if I accept them acting like the 18-22 year olds they once were because they were back on campus and thrown into reliving thing or not。 I just felt like there was zero growth from almost any of them, a Overall: Hella enjoyed my time with this one, felt satisified with the ultimate reveal and conclusion- everything made sense and wasn't just done as a ~twist ending~What's keeping this from being a five star for me is how the characters are written in the present, in their thirties。 I can't decide if I accept them acting like the 18-22 year olds they once were because they were back on campus and thrown into reliving thing or not。 I just felt like there was zero growth from almost any of them, and the growth that was shown felt supericial。 。。。more

Excellent whodunnit!!!

Well this is for you if you’re a fan of the author picking and choosing what to make the main character remember and unnecessary drama。

characters were awful, none of them were super memorable & the twists were so boring & stupid。 i think i need to stop trusting the super hyped up reviews 🤨

Heather

Awful characters that are completely unlikeable。 Wasn’t surprising or suspenseful as the pacing was so slow one could figure out the next plot point or just didn’t care by the time it was revealed。 Overall a meh book。

Valentina

Me gusto y es un buen libro para distraerse y leer en vacaciones。 Al inicio estaba muy estresada con los personajes y no lograba empatizar con ninguno más que con coop, pero la evolución de Jessica me gustó mucho。

I we'll enjoyed this! I mean these types of books are usually right up me alley anyway (suspense thriller set in college? heck ya) but this one was really well-written and properly sucked me in。 We love a page turner。 I we'll enjoyed this! as someone who doesn’t read or like thrillers very often, i took a chance with this one and was absolutely pleasantly surprised!! whenever i picked it up i flew right through it and didn’t even realize how time had passed because i was so immensely invested in these characters and the story

Claire

I don’t think I’ve ever read a book where every single character was so unlikable。

4。5 the protag is unlikable but it’s an interesting study of a narcissistic broken character。 it’s like a graduated pretty little liars with a breakfast club-like group of characters。 a scandalous reveal in almost every chapter。 riveting!

Meh。 All the characters were unlikable。 The timeline could get to be a bit confusing。 Some good twists, but overall I wasn’t super impressed。

Stephanie Campos

The beginning was slow, but it definitely picked up quickly and twisted so many times。

Cynthia

Very talented writer。 Will seek out more of her books。 Was about a group of college kids and a murder that took place。 Who did it? The prose was sometimes so beautifully written that I wanted to capture the writing by taking out my camera。 I thought the characters were very self-indulgent, but it worked out well in the context of the story as it intertwined with the motivations and plot twists。

Ending go brazy bruh

Good twists, great characters, great relationships。 So gripping。 Even if you have an inkling about who did it, I promise seeing how it unfolds is so worth it。 Read this book!

This requires quite a bit of suspension of disbelief and the characters are all pretty much awful people。

This was a fun and fast-paced read!

。。。more

The reason this isn’t getting 5 stars is because I truly HATED the main character 😂 she drove me nuts。But I truly enjoyed the storytelling, and the mystery of it all。 The end of each chapter had me begging for more。 There were definitely “twists” that I somewhat predicted, but I was never certain because I could see several different “answers” that made sense, and even when I was right about something, there was always a surprise part I was missing。 So this book definitely kept me guessing, and The reason this isn’t getting 5 stars is because I truly HATED the main character 😂 she drove me nuts。But I truly enjoyed the storytelling, and the mystery of it all。 The end of each chapter had me begging for more。 There were definitely “twists” that I somewhat predicted, but I was never certain because I could see several different “answers” that made sense, and even when I was right about something, there was always a surprise part I was missing。 So this book definitely kept me guessing, and I really enjoyed it! Hell yes。 This book did everything for me。 You have no idea how much I needed this。 I’ve been craving a good mystery/thriller for a while now。 Hooked me from the beginning。 Ashley’s writing is phenomenal。 She can go from a rom com to a mystery thriller like it’s no biggie。 I can’t compare this specific story to anything else。 It’s in a ballgame of it’s own。 She kept me guessing until the very end。 I can see this becoming a movie or a show。 I appreciated the trigger warnings in the beginning, som Hell yes。 This book did everything for me。 You have no idea how much I needed this。 I’ve been craving a good mystery/thriller for a while now。 Hooked me from the beginning。 Ashley’s writing is phenomenal。 She can go from a rom com to a mystery thriller like it’s no biggie。 I can’t compare this specific story to anything else。 It’s in a ballgame of it’s own。 She kept me guessing until the very end。 I can see this becoming a movie or a show。 I appreciated the trigger warnings in the beginning, something every book should have flat out。 If I had more time I would’ve finished in one sitting。 I can’t wait to get my hands on her newest book The Last Housewife。 Thank you Ashley! 🤘 。。。more

I ate this UP! So captivating and the book leads you to what you think is the trust then the plot twist slaps you in the face。 Unreliable main characters always make the book more eliciting for me too。

4。8 STARSThis book is right up my alley with a group of elitist college students who seem “perfect” on the outside but are all terrible people with deep flaws。 It’s a dark academia with a CLUE Murder mystery premise and I loved it。I hated all of the characters but that was the point。The twists were so perfect while also giving suitable clues throughout the book to figure it out on your own! I am personally here for the hype surrounding this book and think that the author did a fabulous job!
