Summary

New York City, 1985。 A dying man leaves bisexual gang leader Ash Lynx a strange drug, the key to something called "Banana Fish。" The mysterious potion will lead Ash to a disturbed Vietnam vet who remembers a massacre – and into brutal battle with the mafia over control of the drug。

Vice City: New York in the 80s。。。 Nature made Ash Lynx beautiful; nurture made him a cold ruthless killer。 A child runaway brought up as the adopted heir, hatchet man, and sex toy of "Papa" Dino Golzine, the East Coast's Corsican crime lord, Ash is now at the rebellious age of seventeen – forsaking the kingdom of power and riches held out by the devil who raised him, preferring a code he can live with among a small but loyal gang of street thugs。 But his "Papa" can't simply let him go – not when the hideous secret that drove Ash's older brother mad in Vietnam has suddenly fallen into his insatiably ambitious hands。

It's exactly the wrong time for Eiji Okamura, a pure-hearted young photographer from Japan, to arrive in NYC and make Ash Lynx's acquaintance。。。 and fall with him into the bloody whirlpool of pride, greed, lust and wrath unleashed by the enigma code-named Banana Fish。。。

Most of what I know about Banana Fish is that it's notorious for breaking everyone's heart。。。。。which would make sense, considering I've watched the ending of the anime years ago, being reduced to tears despite not knowing anything about these characters。I'm finally ready to experience the pain with context! 4,3 stars check the trigger warnings for the entire series! That being said, I personally probably wouldn't have read this manga if I had known them in advance。 But in the end it was still readable and everything besides that was amazing。 Honestly, this book would have been a five stars if it weren't for *what you'll find out if you check out the content warnings*。 Don't get me wrong, the author dealt with it very well and it HAS a purpose but still。。。 a part of me still wishes it wasn't in this 4,3 stars check the trigger warnings for the entire series! While I like the premise, I'm not sure I'm enough of a manga guy to continue。 Part of me hoped that intrigued of a reading a crime thriller would force to me to continue with the series, but I dont think I will。 At least not for the foreseeable future。 It's based on a Salinger story which piques my interests。 What exactly does a Japanese manga from the 1980s have to say about the hyperboles of the Vietnam War?Children seem to be estranged from adults in this book。 The only connection between the While I like the premise, I'm not sure I'm enough of a manga guy to continue。 Part of me hoped that intrigued of a reading a crime thriller would force to me to continue with the series, but I dont think I will。 At least not for the foreseeable future。 It's based on a Salinger story which piques my interests。 What exactly does a Japanese manga from the 1980s have to say about the hyperboles of the Vietnam War?Children seem to be estranged from adults in this book。 The only connection between the boy and the man exists in the gross sexual gratification of the latter to the former。 I wonder how much relationships of sexual violence are meant to be proxies for war。 The underground syndicates of violence and corruption as something comparable to a landscape in a war zone。 The P。T。S。D of living the life of a derelict。 。。。more

The art。。。 It's a personal problem, I must say。 Having read much of modern manga, I'm really used to the current style and this sudden change to an older style freaked my brain out。 I've watched this anime very very very long ago but never got around to read the manga。 Now that I've finally picked it up, I realize that I prefer the anime's art to the manga's。 This one's a slow start。 I've practically forgotten what happened in the anime except for character names and faces and a few major scenes The art。。。 It's a personal problem, I must say。 Having read much of modern manga, I'm really used to the current style and this sudden change to an older style freaked my brain out。 I've watched this anime very very very long ago but never got around to read the manga。 Now that I've finally picked it up, I realize that I prefer the anime's art to the manga's。 This one's a slow start。 I've practically forgotten what happened in the anime except for character names and faces and a few major scenes。 So reading this manga is still like smelling a fresh rose。 I think I'll gradually get used to the art in the upcoming volumes。 。。。more

This is one of those many things that make me cry but this one is a bit diffrent。 Even though i read it a years ago it still makes my cry like a baby and makes me have a full on emotional panic attack。 Oh well, what can I say, it was worth it though。

It's probably not really a story I will totally enjoy, but the volume was well built with a good pace, interesting events and some likable characters。 There were lots of things happening and it felt a bit like watching a tv show rather than reading a manga。 It's probably not really a story I will totally enjoy, but the volume was well built with a good pace, interesting events and some likable characters。 There were lots of things happening and it felt a bit like watching a tv show rather than reading a manga。 。。。more

Cause I want to join。 。。。more
