Summary

A gripping novel about the whirlwind rise of an iconic 1970s rock group and their beautiful lead singer, revealing the mystery behind their infamous breakup。

Everyone knows Daisy Jones & The Six: The band's album Aurora came to define the rock 'n' roll era of the late seventies, and an entire generation of girls wanted to grow up to be Daisy。 But no one knows the reason behind the group's split on the night of their final concert at Chicago Stadium on July 12, 1979 。 。 。 until now。

Daisy is a girl coming of age in L。A。 in the late sixties, sneaking into clubs on the Sunset Strip, sleeping with rock stars, and dreaming of singing at the Whisky a Go Go。 The sex and drugs are thrilling, but it's the rock 'n' roll she loves most。 By the time she's twenty, her voice is getting noticed, and she has the kind of heedless beauty that makes people do crazy things。

Also getting noticed is The Six, a band led by the brooding Billy Dunne。 On the eve of their first tour, his girlfriend Camila finds out she's pregnant, and with the pressure of impending fatherhood and fame, Billy goes a little wild on the road。

Daisy and Billy cross paths when a producer realizes that the key to supercharged success is to put the two together。 What happens next will become the stuff of legend。

The making of that legend is chronicled in this riveting and unforgettable novel, written as an oral history of one of the biggest bands of the seventies。 Taylor Jenkins Reid is a talented writer who takes her work to a new level with Daisy Jones & The Six, brilliantly capturing a place and time in an utterly distinctive voice。

This book was a good surprise, makes you imagine everything like a movie in a 360 way, all the characters are interesting, the book holds you to the begging until the end。 I recommend and I’m really anxious for the série 🤞🏼

i cannot lie, this book felt very slow until the end, but that still wasn't enough for me to truly enjoy it。 it was cute or whatever but took me so long to actually read。 i cannot lie, this book felt very slow until the end, but that still wasn't enough for me to truly enjoy it。 it was cute or whatever but took me so long to actually read。 。。。more

Not my favorite TJR but a good enjoyable summer read。 No strong feelings about the format but it felt a little long at times。 Liked most of the characters and the setting was very fun

Ok。 This book took me months to finish, so my review may have some bias as it wasn’t a consecutive read… But, I felt that the characters lacked - well character。 I found myself at times just trying to get through it, as most of the excitement happens at the start of the book and the entire second half is borderline painful。 The dialogue was not great BUT I did enjoy getting to know daisy through her lyric writing perspective。 This book is darken then it seems on the surface and troubling as it l Ok。 This book took me months to finish, so my review may have some bias as it wasn’t a consecutive read… But, I felt that the characters lacked - well character。 I found myself at times just trying to get through it, as most of the excitement happens at the start of the book and the entire second half is borderline painful。 The dialogue was not great BUT I did enjoy getting to know daisy through her lyric writing perspective。 This book is darken then it seems on the surface and troubling as it lacks relief in certain areas almost for too long。 You feel as though you are just reading depressing tumblr rather than a band inspired novel。 If you are are looking for a wholesome read, don’t read it! If you are looking to motivate your inner manic pixie dream girl, read away <3 I love this author though, and she writes beautifully, but this plot well 。。。more

Maybe if you have a deep love of music, this would be more interesting。 I have an average love of music so maybe that's why I did not find it captivating。 I felt like I was reading a transcript from a documentary。 The writing was definitely above average but the paths of the characters followed the typical roads you would expect from rock and roll stars。 Maybe if you have a deep love of music, this would be more interesting。 I have an average love of music so maybe that's why I did not find it captivating。 I felt like I was reading a transcript from a documentary。 The writing was definitely above average but the paths of the characters followed the typical roads you would expect from rock and roll stars。 。。。more

I continue to be amazed by Reid's ability to create all these incredibly real and tangible characters。 The formatting of the book really adds to that effect as well, making you feel like you're reading about real celebrities your parents loved in their youth。 This is rock&roll incarnate - the glamorous scene of rock stars in the 70's with the drugs and the groupies and the sex rumors or scandals。 What I liked about this book, however, was how human it was despite the flashy exterior。 All the str I continue to be amazed by Reid's ability to create all these incredibly real and tangible characters。 The formatting of the book really adds to that effect as well, making you feel like you're reading about real celebrities your parents loved in their youth。 This is rock&roll incarnate - the glamorous scene of rock stars in the 70's with the drugs and the groupies and the sex rumors or scandals。 What I liked about this book, however, was how human it was despite the flashy exterior。 All the struggles the band is going through are not just realistic but also common and relatable to many people because you don't need to be a rock star to experience them。 I resonated the most with Karen - her views on family and what it means to you, how you don't necessarily need or want to change your mind about it and how you can be enough for yourself, it's all very validating for me and I'd love to see more female characters like her。The author reveal at the end was a pleasant surprise even though it makes things awkward in hindsight。 It felt nostalgic but also rounded things off nicely。 。。。more

Bumping it up to 3 just for the full-cast audiobook。 Quite disappointed overall after the great reviews & hype- kind of boring, not very interesting characters。 Maybe just not my cup of tea。

It was a fun read。 It’s very clearly based around Fleetwood Mac so that kept it interesting。 Definitely points that felt overly trying to be rocknroll and came out corny but the interview style and general idea was coolStarted yesterday finished today

I really wanted to like it but I just could not seem to care about or like any of these characters。 I only really liked Camila, and maybe Karen。 There were parts I enjoyed, but I think the format made it hard for me to connect and it was a completey character driven book so it just didn't work for me。 I think it will do well in movie format though, so I'm definitely interested in watching! But yeah, it just didn't cut it for me。 I really wanted to like it but I just could not seem to care about or like any of these characters。 I only really liked Camila, and maybe Karen。 There were parts I enjoyed, but I think the format made it hard for me to connect and it was a completey character driven book so it just didn't work for me。 I think it will do well in movie format though, so I'm definitely interested in watching!

I love Reid’s writing so much。 I love daisy and her completely idyllic lifestyle, she is completely who I want to be。 Billy was a weird one to place and camilla was too but I liked them in the end。 It felt somehow unfinished tho。 I would have liked to read more about daisys life before the six and found it pointless to hear all of eddies complaints。 Although the points that Eddie put forward made you look at billy in a bit of a rougher light which I guess was what Reid wanted。 I think it’s cleve I love Reid’s writing so much。 I love daisy and her completely idyllic lifestyle, she is completely who I want to be。 Billy was a weird one to place and camilla was too but I liked them in the end。 It felt somehow unfinished tho。 I would have liked to read more about daisys life before the six and found it pointless to hear all of eddies complaints。 Although the points that Eddie put forward made you look at billy in a bit of a rougher light which I guess was what Reid wanted。 I think it’s clever how all of the members continued to idolise and worship daisy even when they admitted to her being a wreck and not wanting to be around her。But everyone kept saying there was meant to be this big twist at the end and I didn’t see it I mean yeah billy and daisy left but it was foreshadowed in the way they spoke about the band that it didn’t last。 。。。more

4。5 ⭐️ This was my first audiobook and I freaking loved it。 I think it especially worked so well as an audiobook because of the way the physical book is already formatted (oral history, docu style)。 The voice actors were fantastic。 They put so much personality into the characters。 And I loved the characters, even when they were annoying and bratty。 Despite her issues, Daisy was just so cool。 Everyone needs a Simone。 Warren was a vibe。 I loved the takeaways。 Somehow TJR showed how glorified drugs 4。5 ⭐️ This was my first audiobook and I freaking loved it。 I think it especially worked so well as an audiobook because of the way the physical book is already formatted (oral history, docu style)。 The voice actors were fantastic。 They put so much personality into the characters。 And I loved the characters, even when they were annoying and bratty。 Despite her issues, Daisy was just so cool。 Everyone needs a Simone。 Warren was a vibe。 I loved the takeaways。 Somehow TJR showed how glorified drugs were at the time without glorifying them whatsoever。 I loved how she handled addiction。 I loved it all。 The story was so heartbreakingly rough but hopeful。 Typically, (semi) open endings annoy me, but this one just felt perfect。 I’ll be thinking about it for a while。 I wanted to see a couple parts of the story developed a little more, otherwise it would’ve been 5 stars。 But this is going to be such a bitchin tv show。 I can’t wait to hear the whole record and see the band。 。。。more

The only reason I gave this book a minus one is because of the beginning, I found it very boring and at the same time I was struggling with the format of the book。 It was written in as an interview, but eventually throughout 100 pages I managed to get used to it。 Actually the book started to get much interesting after the beginning, I got deep into it and couldn’t stop reading。 I understood Taylor’s reason behind writing this book in a interview format at the end of the book, and I was definitel The only reason I gave this book a minus one is because of the beginning, I found it very boring and at the same time I was struggling with the format of the book。 It was written in as an interview, but eventually throughout 100 pages I managed to get used to it。 Actually the book started to get much interesting after the beginning, I got deep into it and couldn’t stop reading。 I understood Taylor’s reason behind writing this book in a interview format at the end of the book, and I was definitely shocked but at the same time mesmerized。 I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who’s into music, such a great book! 4/5。 。。。more
