Summary

How can I help my child overcome their fear and anxiety?

What skills can I teach my child to cope with scary “what if” thoughts?

How can I help them grow more confident when their worries seem so big?

Christina Furnival, a licensed mental health therapist and mom, answers these questions in this empowering and uplifting rhyming story about a young boy who successfully faces his anxiety and fear head-on。 In Fear Not!, children will learn a practical three-step lesson to manage their worries, regain their cool, and strip fear of its power once and for all。

By teaching children how to confront their fears and mindfully ride the wave of anxiety, this book equips them with the tools they need to deal with the inevitable stressors of life and feel confident no matter the challenge。

This story was so good for my daughter who often experiences fear and anxiety! It was almost like a little self help book to help her name her fears and give her some tools to help her in situations when she’s facing fear。 This story was really great because it was so easy for her and other young kids to be able to connect to。 The illustrations are great and really keep the kids engaged in the story as well。Thank you NetGalley for this ARC

Told in verse and beautifully illustrated this book could be a lifesaver to help make a dent in an anxious kid's life。 I think it's a great starting point in helping your child overcome these intense feelings。 So many of us have anxiety it's easy to relate to and honestly we all need to remember to just take a breath sometimes。 Thank you for this。 Told in verse and beautifully illustrated this book could be a lifesaver to help make a dent in an anxious kid's life。 I think it's a great starting point in helping your child overcome these intense feelings。 So many of us have anxiety it's easy to relate to and honestly we all need to remember to just take a breath sometimes。 Thank you for this。 。。。more

Another great book in this capable kiddo series by Christina Furnival。 I like that the book not only outlines the feeling and emotions through great illustrations but also some solutions that are laid out in steps, the book also has multiple conversation starters and discussion questions at the back。 A great book that will definitely get lots of use in our classroom。

Fantastic resourceThis educator loved the book。 Hopefully it can help many many humans normalize big emotions。 My fav part was that strong emotions both happy and sad will eventually pass。 Sometimes we only focus on difficult emotions so I was happy to see this book brought in some reality on both sides。 Every middle school kiddo needs to hear this one。 Gift it to all the teachers you know。 All of them。

Fear Not! Is such an important read。 With beautiful illustrations and empowering rhymes, it conveys what didn’t work for the character in the book in regards to managing his fears and worries, then provides his step-by-step plan of what did。 It is extremely relatable for all。 There are so many encouraging lines such as “The more that I practiced, the better I got at using my tools, telling fear: I’ll fear NOT!” At the end of the book there are great conversation starters and discussion questions Fear Not! Reading FEAR NOT! is like having a school counselor sitting next to a child comforting them that they are not alone with their fears whatever they may be。 The "counseling" then goes on to explain what didn't work for them in conquering their fears and then provides three strategies for the child to try that will work。 The book ends with Conversation Starters and Discussion questions to further help。 Reading FEAR NOT! is like having a school counselor sitting next to a child comforting them that they are not alone with their fears whatever they may be。 The "counseling" then goes on to explain what didn't work for them in conquering their fears and then provides three strategies for the child to try that will work。 The book ends with Conversation Starters and Discussion questions to further help。 。。。more

The book of how to face your fear and anxiety gives children good ideas on identifying their fears and ways to help relieve them in a concise, poetic way。 It takes the mystery out of “why am I feeling this way” and “am I the only one that has this fear”? This book Fear Not by Christina Furnival is super engaging and interactive。 It simply explains fear and how to handle it。 When sharing this book with my children aged 10 and 13, they can understand it easily。 However, they are not connected emotionally。 The illustrations in the book describe the text well。 But, when reading it on Kindle, the drawings and word arrangement will look messy。 I suggest reading the book on your phone, Netgalley Shelf App, rather than on Kindle because the text and pic This book Fear Not by Christina Furnival is super engaging and interactive。 It simply explains fear and how to handle it。 When sharing this book with my children aged 10 and 13, they can understand it easily。 However, they are not connected emotionally。 The illustrations in the book describe the text well。 But, when reading it on Kindle, the drawings and word arrangement will look messy。 I suggest reading the book on your phone, Netgalley Shelf App, rather than on Kindle because the text and picture arrangement will look clearer on your phone。 I also like it better if the pictures on the phone are consistently in a single mode and not double side by side。 And for the above reasons, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars。 I recommend this book to kids undergoing fear and anxiety and parents who have kids experiencing it。 。。。more
