Summary

When a fake relationship between scientists meets the irresistible force of attraction, it throws one woman’s carefully calculated theories on love into chaos。

As a third-year Ph。D。 candidate, Olive Smith doesn’t believe in lasting romantic relationships but her best friend does, and that’s what got her into this situation。 Convincing Anh that Olive on her way to a happily ever after was always going to be tough, scientists require proof。 So, like any self-respecting woman, Olive panics and kisses the first man she sees。

That man is none other than Adam Carlsen, a young hotshot professor and well-known ass。 Which is why Olive is positively floored when he agrees to keep her charade a secret and be her fake boyfriend。 But when a big science conference goes haywire and Adam surprises her again with his unyielding support (and his unyielding abs), their little experiment feels dangerously close to combustion。

Olive soon discovers that the only thing more complicated than a hypothesis on love is putting her own heart under the microscope。

In love with the story。 In love with Adam。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This was such a cute read! I would technically rate it as 4。5 stars。 I didn’t give it a full 5 stars because there were times when I found Olive a little annoying, but I ultimately enjoyed her relationship with Adam。 I think the Malcom/Holden relationship was fantastic。 I also love how Olive ended up handling the Tom situation。

I think that The Love Hypothesis was a pretty good book。 This was actually one of the first few romance books I have ever bought, and I originally bought it because how famous it was on Booktok 2020。 It was well written and the plot was good, but I think Tikok may have over hyped it, as literally maybe 4 in 10 videos on my FYP were about this book。 The characters are nice, I can't decided between Olive and Adam for my fictional crush。 If you're thinking about buying the book, buy it。 Now。 I think that The Love Hypothesis was a pretty good book。 This was actually one of the first few romance books I have ever bought, and I originally bought it because how famous it was on Booktok 2020。 It was well written and the plot was good, but I think Tikok may have over hyped it, as literally maybe 4 in 10 videos on my FYP were about this book。 The characters are nice, I can't decided between Olive and Adam for my fictional crush。 If you're thinking about buying the book, buy it。 Now。 。。。more

Olive's support networ This was adorable and funny。 Olive is a dorky, socially awkward nerd who has no idea how amazing she is。 Adam is a self righteous genius who's rude and antagonistic but they are just adorable! Olive's support network consist of her best friend Anh and her other friend Malcolm the sassy guy best friend。 They're amazingly supportive of her, although Anh comes across as pushy in places, in the end you realise she was just trying to get Olive to stop holding back her feelings。 After all, she didn't know Olive and Adams relationship was fake。 They're both amazing, supportive friends to Olive and I think we all need friends like these! Does the love interest, Adam, have a few red flags from the get go? Like, you know, stalking (sort of。。。more like long term pining), being a general asshole and not really caring how people respond to his behaviour, treating a fake relationship like a real one (some sort of delusional maybe)。 YES he absolutely does have red flags。 But I love him。 And he looks after Olive, he's so protective of her and never once refers to the "fake relationship" as fake。 Only Olive does that。 Something you might notice after you read it。 For him it was always real and that's both sweet and sad。 He was hoping all along that the fake dating might give Olive real feelings。 This was a quick, easy, light hearted read and dealt briefly with a few heavy topics: cancer, loss, loneliness, lack of women in science to name a few and it was handled very well。 I laughed, cried, got mad, squeaked with happiness, enjoyed the spicy time towards the end of the book, and generally just had a good time reading this。 I wish I could read it again for the first time。 。。。more

Took me a whole month to finish this book because so many things happened but this one was a super enjoyable read!!! Light but not shallow(?) hehehe and not cringey either。 Would recommend!!! 💖 plus Adam is just so dreamy lol

Another Booktok book! Fake dating trope in an academic setting (gasp)。 I know a bunch of pre-med, gifted burnout kids love this book (understandably so)。 The beginning of the book was kinda mid and I felt like something was missing。 The pre-conference and conference phases were great and the ending was cute。 I still find it funny that this book was based on an Adam Driver/Kylo Ren fanfic but hey everyone starts somewhere。 Also I highkey loved the exclusive 16th chapter a lot。

This book took me about a month to read due to it being a slow start meaning I had to take a long break on it。 But once I forced myself to get into it again I finished it quickly。 I love the fake relationship troupe which made me excited to read this book。

3。5⭐️This book was really cute。 I really like the two main characters。 I enjoy the fake dating trope, the representation of women in stem and how Olive continued to build her confidence Throughout the book。 The only thing I will say is that the back and Forward “I love them they don’t like me ” got old quite quickly。 I would have liked to see a bit more of Adam helping her with her research work but overall really cute book。 I recommend for a quick and simple read that was predictable but fun

You can fall in love: someone will catch you

love it it was so cute but felt like it was missing something idk but I was still good

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 This book felt way longer than it actually was。 It was good though, I really liked the grumpy x sunshine trope。 However the smut? It was awful。 I understand Hazelwood wanted Olive to come off as inexperienced but it was just written weirdly。 Like I don’t even know how to describe it。 It says that Olive wasn’t a virgin but it gives off the impression that Olive doesn’t even know what sex entails。 It wasn’t enjoyable, nor was the part about her feet Idk。 It was good though overall but I definitely This book felt way longer than it actually was。 It was good though, I really liked the grumpy x sunshine trope。 However the smut? Fun, quick easy summer read。 A several page sex scene that was too much that I skipped otherwise I would be recommending this one to all my friends。

I am an “Olive can’t possibly be 5’8”” truther。

Starts out a bit slow。 I feel like the first half lacked some depth but the second half picked up and I really enjoyed this book in the end。

i kept putting off reading this book since at least January and omg who wrong was i。。 5/5 i've loved this, i've devoured this, i actually read this in less than 12 hours。 The only thing i'm sad is that it wasn't longer or that there isn't any sequel。 i kept putting off reading this book since at least January and omg who wrong was i。。 5/5 i've loved this, i've devoured this, i actually read this in less than 12 hours。 The only thing i'm sad is that it wasn't longer or that there isn't any sequel。 。。。more

It was alright。 Don’t get me wrong, it was good, fun + cute but just average。 Maybe it is because I didn’t enjoy a story about academia but it was just alright。 Thought about it giving it two stars but I am happy I read it。

I absolutely LOVED this book。 I loved all the tropes, “grumpy meets sunshine”, “fake dating” etc。 The plot was odd sometimes and I didn’t quite understand, especially in the very beginning。

4。9 ⭐so glad I gave this book another chance!! the first time I tried to read it I had a MAJOR reading slump and couldn't pass page 20。 BUT once I got into the rhythm I knew I was going to love it。 i absolutely love the fake dating trope and this book didn't failed。 I'm not going to give 5 stars because it took me a while to get into it。 still amazing tho, and if you love this kinds of tropes, absolutely read this book because it doesn't disappoints 😁✨ super excited to read more of Ali's books 📚 4。9 ⭐so glad I gave this book another chance!! the first time I tried to read it I had a MAJOR reading slump and couldn't pass page 20。 BUT once I got into the rhythm I knew I was going to love it。 i absolutely love the fake dating trope and this book didn't failed。 I'm not going to give 5 stars because it took me a while to get into it。 still amazing tho, and if you love this kinds of tropes, absolutely read this book because it doesn't disappoints 😁✨ super excited to read more of Ali's books 📚 。。。more
