Summary

Maybe it was a grandparent, or a teacher, or a colleague。 Someone older, patient and wise, who understood you when you were young and searching, helped you see the world as a more profound place, gave you sound advice to help you make your way through it。

For Mitch Albom, that person was Morrie Schwartz, his college professor from nearly twenty years ago。

Maybe, like Mitch, you lost track of this mentor as you made your way, and the insights faded, and the world seemed colder。 Wouldn’t you like to see that person again, ask the bigger questions that still haunt you, receive wisdom for your busy life today the way you once did when you were younger?

Mitch Albom had that second chance。 He rediscovered Morrie in the last months of the older man’s life。 Knowing he was dying, Morrie visited with Mitch in his study every Tuesday, just as they used to back in college。 Their rekindled relationship turned into one final “class”: lessons in how to live。

Tuesdays with Morrie is a magical chronicle of their time together, through which Mitch shares Morrie’s lasting gift with the world。

A classic。 One of the few books that I have read repeatedly and will continue to whenever I am in a season of life that feels overwhelming。 This book is a safe place for me, reflections on life and priorities, reconnecting with passion and purpose。 Highly recommended, everyone needs to read this book at least once in their lives。

not for me。 really struggled to connect with the writing, as it seemed i was reading extremely cheesy greeting cards。

A book with life lessons。 A read that reminded me of my long conversations with my teacher who gave a perspective to see life and people and reminded me to be stay compassionate to others as we don't know what battles others are fighting within。 He taught me to leave the anger and surrender to the Almighty, let life take its course and live one day at a time。 It does make it easy to live one day at a time。 A book with life lessons。 A read that reminded me of my long conversations with my teacher who gave a perspective to see life and people and reminded me to be stay compassionate to others as we don't know what battles others are fighting within。 He taught me to leave the anger and surrender to the Almighty, let life take its course and live one day at a time。 It does make it easy to live one day at a time。 。。。more

。。。more

"。。。 。。。more

The book was shoving something down my throat and I simply could not choke it down。 Sentimental glurge like a Hallmark greeting card, but the writing is pretty。

I had to read this book for my human development class for college。 At first I was skeptical and am not a huge fan of books professors assign。 But I instantly fell in love with the book and the message。 The bond between Mitch and Morrie is so touching。 Morrie is a wonderful teacher。 He gave so many valuable pieces of advice to Mitch。 As a reader, the pieces of advice he gave to Mitch will stick with me。 One piece of advice was “once you learn how to die, you learn how to live。” To me you don’t n I had to read this book for my human development class for college。 At first I was skeptical and am not a huge fan of books professors assign。 But I instantly fell in love with the book and the message。 The bond between Mitch and Morrie is so touching。 Morrie is a wonderful teacher。 He gave so many valuable pieces of advice to Mitch。 As a reader, the pieces of advice he gave to Mitch will stick with me。 One piece of advice was “once you learn how to die, you learn how to live。” To me you don’t need to learn how to die…but you need to learn how to live your life to its fullest。 You can die at any moment。 But make sure you lived your life to the fullest。 Fill your beautiful life with love, friendships, memories, moments you won’t forget, experiences, etc。 And you will die eventually knowing your life was worth living。 。。。more

I started reading this thinking it’d be a good Sunday morning read and a few hours later I was sobbing as I finished reading the last few pages。 I can see why it’s remained so popular since it’s publication, with stage and film productions, translated into numerous languages。 It is a book with so much depth but told so simply and relatable, that is what makes it more emotionally impactful。

A book I'm sure to re-read in the future to reflect。 Many life lessons within。 Some that I'm sure will stick with me for a long time。 I'm glad I read it all the way through and got to feel a small connection to a great teacher。 Shed a tear or two。 A good book。 I liked it。 A book I'm sure to re-read in the future to reflect。 Many life lessons within。 Some that I'm sure will stick with me for a long time。 I'm glad I read it all the way through and got to feel a small connection to a great teacher。 Shed a tear or two。 A good book。 I liked it。 。。。more

There were a lot of beautiful take aways from this book about love and living and my heart is very full after finishing this book。

I have wanted to read this book for many years and finally had a copy seemingly fall into my lap。 I cannot give enough praise for this life lesson thesis written by a student with the input from his beloved professor。 It is a must read 。。。 and reread book!

A wonderful read about the meaning of life and happiness, explored by a student after the death of his teacher。 It really has a powerful message and I absolutely recommend it!

I was worried about making my reading quota this month as I had a lot of books I started but either will not finish by end of June or will not finish ever。 This book was the slimmest one that I had sitting on my shelf, and I knew it had a reputation for being very popular。 I didn't realize how old it was (written back in the 20th century!), but the message is eternal。 I'm glad that I had read Lisa Genova's "Every Note Played" about ALS, as it gave me much greater familiarity with Total Honesty? 3。5 stars maybe? It’s a heart warming memoir。 The conversations between Morrie and Mitch touch upon several aspects of life。 However, most of the things discussed are now “popular” comments on our generation’s fast paced life。 Despite this, the fact that Morrie was dying and the narrative style of the author managed to turn these messages into a memoir that makes you reflect on life。
