As the story progresses, our protagonist discovers there's actually more to boredom than what meets the eye—more questions, more theories, and heaps of humor。

This exploration of boredom from acclaimed author-illustrator Shinsuke Yoshitake playfully unpacks the ways in which a seemingly stagnant state is actually a portal into a dynamic, life-enriching experience。

• Embraces the topic of boredom—an ever-so-popular kid complaint—and runs with it
• Yoshitake's illustrations promote visual literacy and show young readers what the process of creative thinking looks like

My five-year-old says that this book deserves 5 stars, and that after he reads it, he is “really, really, really, really bored。” But we’ve read it four times since we checked it out from the library, and it turns out, thinking about being bored is pretty interesting!

This book is actually pretty funny and spot on as far as the imaginative things children can come up with when they're bored and forced to entertain themselves。 The pictures are totally charming。 It's like the illustrator captured a play-by-play of the drama boredom induces。 Completely delightful! buku ini lucu, cerita tentang kebosanan dan bagaimana merubah kebosanan itu jadi suatu kesenangan, tapi balik jadi bosan lagi。 ilustrasinya gemas!

How cute and colorful the illustrations in this book!Iseng nyari buku anak di scribd dan nemu karyanya Shinsuken Yoshitake ini。 Bukunya tipis dan judulnya menarik buatku。 Bisa dibaca sekali duduk。 Lucu lucu gambar didalemnya。 Benerann deh, Kalo lagi suntuk atau lagi nyari bacaan yang (super) ringan, pick this one!

For me boredom is knowing that there are things to do and I don't wanna do any of them。 Though that's also a symptom of my depression, so I have to watch out。 And yet, I can still identify with this kiddo。 He philosophically unpacks that odd feeling that gets labeled boredom。。。 but in a kid-friendly picture-book。 And it's not hilarious, exactly, but it is definitely amusing and I did smile while reading it。What would *you* call that feeling in between Boredom and Having Fun? I might have liked this more than my 6 yr old。

Japanese author/illustrator Shinsuke Yoshitake delivers a delightful journey through boredom, one that seems almost like a direct flow of consciousness from bored (but highly imaginative) little mind。 The artwork is simple yet highly expressive, full of primary colors and simple lines but also lots of little whimsical details。 The story itself I think would be enjoyed by both by kids and adult readers, both of whom are going to find something relatable in the pages。

Valerie

This author has clearly spent extensive time studying toddlers in their natural habitat。 I love everything about this book。

This encapsulated the feeling of boredom。I remember feeling the exact same way as a kid, and honestly as an adult as well。

This OIB picture book originally published in 2017 in Japan follows a young person who experiences the challenges of boredom and philosophizes about what makes things boring or not。I don't know if I would have this book in my classroom library。 If I did, it could be a book that connects with the common experience of childhood boredom。 I'm curious, though: would a bored child find this book interesting or boring? An adorable investigation of boredom。For a picture book, The Boring Book gets surprisingly philosophical about the many causes of a complete lack of interest。 The accompanying illustration provides some cute and vibrant diagrams of boredom in action。Yoshitake clearly put a lot of thought and care into composing this book, two things which are guaranteed to yield a respond from kids。 It also provides a gentle introduction to irony, namely how fun it is to think of ways to be bored。 Isn't that wei An adorable investigation of boredom。For a picture book, The Boring Book gets surprisingly philosophical about the many causes of a complete lack of interest。 The accompanying illustration provides some cute and vibrant diagrams of boredom in action。Yoshitake clearly put a lot of thought and care into composing this book, two things which are guaranteed to yield a respond from kids。 It also provides a gentle introduction to irony, namely how fun it is to think of ways to be bored。 Isn't that weird?Of course this book itself is a fine example of such irony。 The Boring Book is actually rather engaging, a crafty tonic for little ones getting fed up of 'nothing much to do'。 If you're a parent or guardian of such a child, I do recommend The Boring Book。 Either way, that's me done for this review。 How dull。。。 。。。more
