Summary

The Discord of Gods marks the epic conclusion to Jenn Lyons's Chorus of Dragon series, closing out the saga that began with The Ruin of Kings, for fans of Brandon Sanderson and Patrick Rothfuss。

The end times have come。

Relos Var's final plans to enslave the universe are on the cusp of fruition。 He believes there's only one being in existence that might be able to stop him: the demon Xaltorath。

As these two masterminds circle each other, neither is paying attention to the third player on the board, Kihrin。 Unfortunately, keeping himself classified in the "pawn" category means Kihrin must pretend to be everything the prophecies threatened he'd become: the destroyer of all, the sun eater, a mindless, remorseless plague upon the land。 It also means finding an excuse to not destroy the people he loves (or any of the remaining Immortals) without arousing suspicion。

Kihrin's goals are complicated by the fact that not all of his "act" is one。 His intentions may be sincere, but he's still being forced to grapple with the aftereffects of the corrupted magic ritual that twisted both him and the dragons。 Worse, he's now tied to a body that is the literal avatar of a star - a form that is becoming increasingly, catastrophically unstable。 All of which means he's running out of time。

After all, some stars fade - but others explode。

One of the best fantasy series of the decade has now come to an end。 And what a bloody beautiful end this was。For those who are unaware of this epic fantasy series, you're missing out on gods, dragons, wizards, witches, demons, Demi humans, elves, portals, LGBTQ, reincarnations and what not。 Not to forget, the non stop action and the hilarious commentary。I'm sad to see the series end。 Very rarely do I have huge expectations and this series surpassed that with each and every book。 One of the best fantasy series of the decade has now come to an end。 And what a bloody beautiful end this was。For those who are unaware of this epic fantasy series, you're missing out on gods, dragons, wizards, witches, demons, Demi humans, elves, portals, LGBTQ, reincarnations and what not。 Not to forget, the non stop action and the hilarious commentary。I'm sad to see the series end。 Very rarely do I have huge expectations and this series surpassed that with each and every book。 。。。more

I can’t believe this series is officially over。 It was such a wild ride, and I enjoyed every single book, but this last one might just be my favourite。 While some of the previous books felt just a little to long and drawn out to me, this one was just perfect。 I was on the edge of my seat the entire time。 Let’s talk plot for a second: This was such a great end for this series, and the way some of the plot points and characters from as far back as the first book came back into play made this concl I can’t believe this series is officially over。 It was such a wild ride, and I enjoyed every single book, but this last one might just be my favourite。 While some of the previous books felt just a little to long and drawn out to me, this one was just perfect。 I was on the edge of my seat the entire time。 Let’s talk plot for a second: This was such a great end for this series, and the way some of the plot points and characters from as far back as the first book came back into play made this conclusion feel incredibly satisfying。 There was maybe on or two little things that I’d have liked to explore a bit more (just some questions I still had about the worldbuilding and such, but I’m honestly not entirely sure if they were explained at some point and I simply forgot, because there is just a lot of stuff in these books), the ending did feel a little quick, but pretty much everything else was wrapped up in a really satisfying conclusion。And don’t get me started on the characters, because I love ever single one of them。 They all seemed to grow so much over the course of this series and slowly got to know each other, which made it so satisfying to finally see them all working together in this last book。 I absolutely love having a huge cast of characters like this, and it’s so rare that I actually like and care about all of them, but Jenn Lyons definitely pulled that off。 I mean it, every single character in this book is so unique and interesting, I could sit hear and talk about them for hours, which made me even more scared what the author would do to them in this final book。So, if you hadn’t gathered that at this point, I absolutely adored this book and this entire series and I absolutely recommend it to anyone who’s even slightly interested in the fantasy genre。 And even if you aren’t maybe you still want to give it a try, you’ll not regret it。 I can’t wait to see what Jenn Lyons will come up with next, because I just know it’ll be absolutely amazing, and I’ll now go and reread all my favourite parts of this book series whilst mourning that it’s over。 。。。more

An excellent conclusion to a new fantasy classic, spending more time with a beloved set of characters on the way to learning more secrets about the world (and ultimately saving it in bittersweet fashion。

I don’t know the series lost me a little bit towards the end!! Still really enjoyed reading it, but it didn’t feel as exciting as the first few。 It felt like all the relationships were already resolved in the previous book & this one only focused on the “save the world” plot, which got a little predictable to me。 Sorry I need more drama!

The finale of the Chorus of Dragon series did not disappoint…I would go as far to say it was the absolute best!! I’m so sad it’s over…This one was packed with action and reveals and I could not put it down! Our large cast of characters shone in every way。 This one has the most straightforward narration of all of them …and if you made it past book 2 you need to keep reading! This last book is so worth it。 A new favourite fantasy series of all time!

The final book is A Chorus of Dragons! Can’t believe this series is already over! While my enjoyment for this series and each individual book has had its ups and downs, I loved several of the characters。 Kihrin is my child。 I also took a high liking to Tereath and Tyentso。 Thurvishar was pretty cool too。 Janel I liked a lot but not a favourite。 Most of the ups and downs came down to the narrative of the plot。 For book two I was annoyed getting almost the whole book as Janel’s backstory because I The final book is A Chorus of Dragons! This final book was very satisfying。 It was a great ending to this series which is by far one of the best modern, epic fantasy series that I've read in a long time。 Jenn Lyons created fantastic, nuanced characters and a great world that I was sad to leave behind。 I hope that in the future she tells more stories set in the universe。 There is so much more to explore。 I would recommend this series to anyone。 This final book was very satisfying。 It was a great ending to this series which is by far one of the best modern, epic fantasy series that I've read in a long time。 Jenn Lyons created fantastic, nuanced characters and a great world that I was sad to leave behind。 I hope that in the future she tells more stories set in the universe。 There is so much more to explore。 I would recommend this series to anyone。 。。。more

It took so long to read this, it's partly because of of me but also because this book felt longer bc of the many characters's pov。 I wanted more from some of them, and having that many pov fit in only one day disrupted the pace for me, but still we can see how the author has a hold on her plot, and made it come to fruition in this last book。 I loved the diverse cast of characters, Thurvishar, Senera, Kihrin, Janel, Teraeth, Tyentso, and I hope that the author explores this world more later on。 It took so long to read this, it's partly because of of me but also because this book felt longer bc of the many characters's pov。 I wanted more from some of them, and having that many pov fit in only one day disrupted the pace for me, but still we can see how the author has a hold on her plot, and made it come to fruition in this last book。 I loved the diverse cast of characters, Thurvishar, Senera, Kihrin, Janel, Teraeth, Tyentso, and I hope that the author explores this world more later on。 。。。more

I'm glad I kept going with this series。 I was skeptical after book one, but the storytelling and worldbuilding here let me look past the confusion and 'Wait, what now?' moments to really enjoy myself, particularly in books three through five, when all the backstory telling is out of the way, and our main characters start to work together and uncover secrets。 This last book is a non-stop rollercoaster ride of action。 There are some nice character moments, and occasional moments of quiet, but for I'm glad I kept going with this series。 I was skeptical after book one, but the storytelling and worldbuilding here let me look past the confusion and 'Wait, what now?' moments to really enjoy myself, particularly in books three through five, when all the backstory telling is out of the way, and our main characters start to work together and uncover secrets。 This last book is a non-stop rollercoaster ride of action。 There are some nice character moments, and occasional moments of quiet, but for the most part, this is bouncing from character to character, fraught situation to fraught situation, and somehow the author makes it work。 Like I have been with the last three of these books, confusion gave way to obsession, and I tore my way through this。 As you can see I have given this book five stars, which I think the author deserves。 I think the way she handled the mess of detail and complicated character backstory and identities was admirable。 Despite not being quite sure who was who, and why they were important at various times in the narrative, my emotions were always engaged, and the overall arc of the story was always clear and imperative。 I also grew to love most of our final main group of characters, and really wanted them to be happy and have good lives (and second, third, fourth lives, and afterlives, etc。)I was very unsure how this was going to end, but as the ending drew near I could feel the confidence in the narrative the author had, and felt safe enough to just barrel on through without looking up spoilers。 What ended up happening makes a ton of sense in retrospect, and I'm actually more excited to re-read this whole series back to back next year than I was before。The ending of the story also hints that there may be more stories set in this world, though this particular story is done。 I would enjoy that! But I would also like to see what other wacky things Jenn Lyons could pull out of her brain。 [4。5 stars rounded up, because the author has earned it] 。。。more

Wrapping up the crazy convoluted world she has created, Jenn continues to play with plot structure and character building in ways that I’m not fully accustomed to; I’m a fan。 I could do without some of the gross descriptions, but overall I felt like I was peeking into another world rich in culture and bylines。 She really hit her groove with this book; it feels like some of the ideas she had for plot structure in the first book have grown into their adult pants here。 Fantastic plot and difficult Wrapping up the crazy convoluted world she has created, Jenn continues to play with plot structure and character building in ways that I’m not fully accustomed to; I’m a fan。 I could do without some of the gross descriptions, but overall I felt like I was peeking into another world rich in culture and bylines。 She really hit her groove with this book; it feels like some of the ideas she had for plot structure in the first book have grown into their adult pants here。 Fantastic plot and difficult to put down。 I particularly enjoyed the mystery/reversal。 Instead of the good guys trying to figure out who the bad guy is, or the bad guy's plans, it is the good guys trying to hide their plans from the bad guy。 It very much felt like a mystery novel that had been flipped on its head。 I feel like Jenn is a similar writer to Sanderson and Rowling; she tends to focus on very clear prose, and all her work is in the storytelling。 She isn’t in the same category as Rothfuss or Seanan McGuire when it comes to crafting beautiful sentences, but boy can she tell a good story。 I did have a hard time following the story sometimes; the character cast is huge, and while the characters all felt distinct and individual, the names were foreign to me but quite similar to each other, making it hard for me to always remember who was who without pulling myself out of the story for a moment to think。 I highly recommend this book to anybody who has read a number of fantasy books and is familiar with the basic plot, because this book plays with some of those storylines while still delivering a satisfying ending。 If you like Brandon Sanderson or J。K。 Rowling, and are okay with some more mature themes, then you’ll probably love this concluding book to the Chorus of Dragons series。 Ratings:Absorption Level: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5Writing Level: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4| 5Ribaldry Level: G | PG | PG-13| R| XXX*Absorption Level: How hard this book is to put down, on a scale from 1 (had to force myself to slog through yet another paragraph) to 5 (my family is wondering where I have been for a number of days now; I have also lost all touch with reality)*Writing Level: A combined measure of the prose and plot, on a scale from 1 (terrible prose, massive plot holes) to 5 (beautifully crafted prose, ironclad plot)*Ribaldry Level: How “clean” is the story, on a scale from G (safe for anybody to read, from children to grumpy old men) to XXX (A grandmother just fainted somewhere just from mentioning the title) 。。。more
