I- first of all wow。 What an intense series。 I hope they make this into an anime soon! I was on the edge of my seat the whole time。 I had to take breaks in between to freak out before continuing。 Very good。

It's like a train wreck you can't look away from。 This is definitely not a romance manga, but a psychological thriller about stockholm syndrome and how the trauma people face shape them as a person。 It's like a train wreck you can't look away from。 This is definitely not a romance manga, but a psychological thriller about stockholm syndrome and how the trauma people face shape them as a person。 。。。more

Alright。 NowI know what everyone is going to think and say。。But best believe me when I say that this manga or whatever, this right here。 Honestly so damn good。Like it’s weird, I get that, and I know that。 BELIVE me when I say that this book honestly gravitated me towards it, like I read it in a few hours max。 People will grimace at you when you say you read this for sure, but don’t let that stop you from dipping your toes into manga。 First thing I read… won’t be the last。。 but I won’t read anymo Alright。 NowI know what everyone is going to think and say。。But best believe me when I say that this manga or whatever, this right here。 Honestly so damn good。Like it’s weird, I get that, and I know that。 BELIVE me when I say that this book honestly gravitated me towards it, like I read it in a few hours max。 People will grimace at you when you say you read this for sure, but don’t let that stop you from dipping your toes into manga。 First thing I read… won’t be the last。。 but I won’t read anymore any time soon。The “romance,” if you can even call it that, is actually。。 good? FOUR STARS, aka yeah, I'll definitely read this again to better appreciate how it does what it does。(I'll just let this review stand for the whole series, more so I can remember when I read it than having so many "books" count toward my GR tally。)Honestly? Enjoyed this so much more than I expected。 And depending on your tolerance for gore and all other kinds of icky subjects, you might, too。 It's a dark fantasy that devles into the usual "problematic" tropes, no shame in that, but here there's a FOUR STARS, aka yeah, I'll definitely read this again to better appreciate how it does what it does。(I'll just let this review stand for the whole series, more so I can remember when I read it than having so many "books" count toward my GR tally。)Honestly? Enjoyed this so much more than I expected。 And depending on your tolerance for gore and all other kinds of icky subjects, you might, too。 It's a dark fantasy that devles into the usual "problematic" tropes, no shame in that, but here there's a considerable elevation of the subject material because of a sustained level of self-awareness, even with the indulgence。 It's an impressive high-wire act, yielding moments of pitch-black humor and actual hints of psychological complexity among the otherwise (view spoiler)[rather expected Psych 101-levels of "explaining" psychosis, or the the low-level misogyny and queerphobia I'm used to seeing in a particular flavor of old-school BL stories。 I'm inoculated to it, YMMV。 I'm also a little surprised this title is considered so "extreme," since I've been used to the idea of serial killer/victim romances since I read Hannibal in high school, and Killing Stalking is nowhere near that level of romanticizing either the relationship or its killer。 Maybe it's a testament to Koogi's art and storytelling, in making the events feel so much more visceral and therefore horrifying。 But this is basic L&O:SVU-type shenanigans, and I'd say you could easily find darker and more twisted fictions from Kanae Minato or Kirino Natsuo。 Those, of course, don't contain outright porn, or visually depict graphic rape scenes。 But even if we stay within the BL world: Venus ni Seppun? Under Grand Hotel? That one title I've repressed where a kid enrolls in a super-violent boys' school to find out who murdered his brother, figures out all the murders were orchestrated by his brother's sex slave? If anything KS is a bit of a throwback, which I alluded to before, in its shamelessly over-the-top porn and pornographic violence, and the "it's not gay sex if it's just another way to destroy someone's psyche" sensibility。 Those titles are all SO MUCH worse than poor Killing Stalking, the people in a twist over this story would not have survived Livejournal in the aughts I swear to Christ。 (hide spoiler)] Where I really have to give credit, though, is the art。 Things start off kind of shaky and ugly, and in some respects the ugliness is a deliberate and persistant choice。 But wow, does Koogi have the gift of composition and framing down to a diabolical science, and her best moments come from when she lets the art tell the bulk of the story。 She's just genius at choosing the best way to make us "see" a scene, capturing either oppressively claustrophobic horror or deeply human despair with precise, incredible distinction。 She's got a knack at the beginning, sometimes stumbling with a heavier hand than needed, but she gets better throughout and by the end it is a master class in tension and visual storytelling。 The art helps Koogi get away with a lot, actually, as (view spoiler)[there are several moments that don't get the narrative payoff or explanation they deserve, or others that skip the build-up and so end up feeling a little。。。 manipulative, in a way that feels beneath the sophistication of the story thus far。 Plus several leaps in the "development" in their relationship which feel more about to the scandalous sex scenes than telling a cohesive story, or maintaining characterization。 (hide spoiler)] I don't begrudge any of that, again, this is a BL title and my expectations were firmly on the floor。 I just don't want to give the impression it's a perfect story, just as I wouldn't want to give the impression it is anything other than id-tastic dark fiction delivered with an extremely deft hand。 (The nightmarish dream sequences in particular are incredibly surreal and evocative。 Yo, Koogi is GOOD AT THIS。) So, yeah。 Turns out a story about a vicious killer and the developing relationship he has with a man he tortures and imprisons can, actually, be a good time。 。。。more

I love this series so much it was a reread for me but it’s so dark and twisted it’s still great。 My favorite line from this maga was "You'd think that killing people makes them like you, but it doesn't, it just makes them dead" ( page 50) I love this series so much it was a reread for me but it’s so dark and twisted it’s still great。 My favorite line from this maga was "You'd think that killing people makes them like you, but it doesn't, it just makes them dead" ( page 50) 。。。more

I'm currently reading it and I think that it's not for everybody。 There are deep psychological problems with the main characters, and I'm more interested in the manipulation aspect of the webtoon rather than the yaoi portion。 It's a bloody, gory mess of a webtoon, but if you can handle it, and see the deeper meaning in it, then by all means give it a shot。 I'm caught up and right now it is becoming a tad bit repetitive, but I hope it'll go somewhere in the near future。 I'm currently reading it and I think that it's not for everybody。 There are deep psychological problems with the main characters, and I'm more interested in the manipulation aspect of the webtoon rather than the yaoi portion。 It's a bloody, gory mess of a webtoon, but if you can handle it, and see the deeper meaning in it, then by all means give it a shot。 I'm caught up and right now it is becoming a tad bit repetitive, but I hope it'll go somewhere in the near future。 。。。more
