Isn’t she adorable? No。 No she is not adorable。 She’s horrible。 And the entire series would have been better if it had been about Cresta instead。The end。 。。。more

Simply amazing。 All the characters- Caldon, Jaren, TIPP, Kiva, and Cresta… I love them all FIERCELY! The TENSION between Kiva and Jaren for most of this book - I just can’t。 Kiva’s character development ?!?!? Kiva’s relationships with all the characters?!?!? It was all fantastic。 I could not put it down!!

Let me start by saying this: It is an ending I liked, I felt like all the characters got a fair ending and I am happy to leave this fantasy world with this ending。 Now, it wouldn't be a review by me, if I didn't complain。 So, I do have to admit that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped and my main reason for that is that the author sacrificed a whole lot of plot and pacing for the sake of character whining。 For most of the book, Kiva is plagued by guilt, shame, and pain。 Granted, most Let me start by saying this: It is an ending I liked, I felt like all the characters got a fair ending and I am happy to leave this fantasy world with this ending。 Now, it wouldn't be a review by me, if I didn't complain。 So, I do have to admit that I didn't enjoy this book as much as I had hoped and my main reason for that is that the author sacrificed a whole lot of plot and pacing for the sake of character whining。 For most of the book, Kiva is plagued by guilt, shame, and pain。 Granted, most of that is fair, since she pretty much handed her sister the tools to take over Evalon and then whined when it actually had negative consequences for her。 But, in order to make sure the reader is constantly reminded of all her pain and witnesses her as a victim, I feel Lynette Noni didn't really focus on making this a story。 I mean at the end of the second installment of this series, we are in the middle of war。 The Vallentis lost the thrown, the kingdom is plunged into war, there is trouble with neighboring kingdoms and in the midst of it all are Kiva, Jaren and the gang。 You would think that this would lead up to an action-packed culmination。 But really, it's just one scene after the other in which Kiva is made the victim, the reader is supposed to feel sorry for her, and not much else。 (view spoiler)[ I mean we do not even get back to the capital and the fighting until maybe about 90% of the book。 There is no strategizing。 There is no climactic clash of Vallentis vs Corentine。 There is no sibling redemption for anyone。 Basically, after blowing around in a tornado-type wind channel like Brendan Fraser's mummy, they all just sneak into the castle, Kiva restores Jaren's power, and then BOOM。 That's it。 Then it's happily ever after。 Considering all the build-up from the previous two books, I was pretty bummed that most of this book was pretty much a drag。 I mean, do Kiva and Tipp have a whole lot of relationship to repair after her deceit? Yes。 Do they do it? No。 Instead, all the women in their group are conveniently left to battle to the death, while Jaren, Caldon, and Tipp are forced to watch。 This triggers such an emotional reunion, that Tipp forgives and forgets everything, and even Caldon and his sister are all fine again。 Then we should at least expect some major confrontation between Jaren and Kiva, right? Wrong。 Because it's all just about poor Kiva and all the horrible things she's suffered, while Jaren just gaslights her on every occasion。 Then, Kiva is, conveniently, high one night and just tells of all her woes, which leads Jaren to take her on a hike where he basically says "hey, just kidding, I still love you。" I felt like so many very interesting aspects of this story just got left behind。 I would have loved to read more about Zuleeka and her struggle to maintain control。 If the people of Evalon were as committed to the Vallentis as we have come to believe, there should have been an uprising。 Civil war。 Chaos。 THAT would have been an interesting story。 What about Mirryn? Sibling rivalry and jealousy is a tale as old as time, but what about when she realises that Zuleeka has used her。 Wouldn't that have been an interesting story to follow? What about the king's death? The queen's addiction? What about Oriel's struggles? What about Navok? How can he be made out to be one of the baddest king's and biggest threats out there, who invades Evalon full force ahead, but really he makes no impact what so ever on the story。 Because the gang just use the underground tunnels to get to the palace, Cresta faces her brother and kills him and that's it。 How can this be all that this character added to the story? And what about all the other kingdoms? Yes, Jaren seems to imply in once conversation that everything is normal in Evalon, which might mean that they are trying to keep calm and not let any outsider know that they have been overthrown by the rebels。 But why? Wouldn't this be a good time to knock on you allies door and say, "hey, some rebels stole our crown。 We could use some help getting it back?" Why isn't Ashlyn, as a freaking general, leading the soldiers that are loyal to Vallentis into battle against a self-proclaimed queen that is struggling to defend her claim to the throne?See how many interesting plot twists we all got from the first two books? And yet it is all ignored。 Character development and relationships should go hand in hand with a good plot, not replace it。 Look, don't get me wrong。 I loved Lynette Noni's characters。 I thought Cresta was a wonderful addition to it all and I was rooting for all of them。 I just wish that she would have given the story as much attention as she has her characters because there is a discrepancy。 I can't love a story that has amazing characters but doesn't give these characters a storyline that is equally as amazing。 (hide spoiler)] 。。。more

I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count the amount of twists and turns this book had。 Definitely kept me on edge, so good! It kind of reminded me of kingdom of ashes and children of blood and bone in the end。

A solid four stars for all three books! A good ending and fun read even if somewhat predictable。 There’s some flaws, specifically with just how “tortured” Kiva is and how many times everyone is meant to hear some revelation of her past and gasp and look at her with new eyes。 Ending was also a little rushed as multiple fights converged at once that have been built up。 Warning, the romance chemistry is still good but it stays very YA。

This book was a great ending to a great series。 There were so many themes tackled in this book such as loss, addiction and most of all, forgiveness。 It held a very powerful message about pushing through the hard times and to not forget to live。I will admit, the first 100 pages I was very confused as I had forgotten some pretty important parts from the previous book, but I was able to push through and it all ended up clicking into place。 Even though I was a bit lost at times, this book still capt This book was a great ending to a great series。 There were so many themes tackled in this book such as loss, addiction and most of all, forgiveness。 It held a very powerful message about pushing through the hard times and to not forget to live。I will admit, the first 100 pages I was very confused as I had forgotten some pretty important parts from the previous book, but I was able to push through and it all ended up clicking into place。 Even though I was a bit lost at times, this book still captivated me from the start。 There were no dull moments。 I really liked how the theme of forgiveness was not just people forgiving one another, but forgiving oneself too。 I feel like you do not see that as much in books。 Overall, I was very satisfied by this book and how the series ended。 So glad I decided to start this series! 。。。more

I can't believe that this story is all finished。 I was a bit late with starting the first book by a few months but considering the year and the way the first book started it didn't say "Escape to fantasy bookland" but I got around to it and invested in Kiva's world。 The second book was much more challenging to deal with considering how that book ended but by then I needed the final book like 3 months after reading。 Sadly it was a lot longer but I think it was worth the wait。 Things get wrapped u I can't believe that this story is all finished。 I was a bit late with starting the first book by a few months but considering the year and the way the first book started it didn't say "Escape to fantasy bookland" but I got around to it and invested in Kiva's world。 The second book was much more challenging to deal with considering how that book ended but by then I needed the final book like 3 months after reading。 Sadly it was a lot longer but I think it was worth the wait。 Things get wrapped up nicely and there were a fair few plot twists that I didn't see coming。 The rings thing was a bit of a cliche but I'm a JRPG gaming fan so finding elemental rings are something I'm used to by this stage。 I'd definitely recommend this to fantasy fans but would say not before age 14-15, though I've had friends disagree with the age rating。 Some say lower is fine and some say 15 as a minimum so reading age recommendation varies。 。。。more
