This was very fun， and while it's not part of the Hellboy universe I think it could very easily shoe-horned in there。 With the mention of Vril in the first story， it makes it even more plausible。 Just following a bunch of tertiary stuff to the main plot。Screw-On Head:Was a lot of fun， I've seen the trailer for the short of this tons throughout my years， but after reading it it's way shorter than I would have expected， but the comedy is there for the short bit。 I read Emperor Zombie as Matt Berry This was very fun， and while it's not part of the Hellboy universe I think it could very easily shoe-horned in there。 With the mention of Vril in the first story， it makes it even more plausible。 Just following a bunch of tertiary stuff to the main plot。Screw-On Head:Was a lot of fun， I've seen the trailer for the short of this tons throughout my years， but after reading it it's way shorter than I would have expected， but the comedy is there for the short bit。 I read Emperor Zombie as Matt Berry because I can't help myself and that worked super with his shapeshifting vampire companion。Abu Gung and the Beanstalk:Following the historical figure we were looking for relics of in Screw-On Head， we then get the backstory of Gung the Magnificent， or at least the first of his stories。 Short and very Mignola-esque this too was lots of fun。 I hope we see more of Abu Gung eventually。The Magician and the Snake:Easily my favourite short of the volume， written by Mignola and his （at the time） 7 year old daughter， it tells the story of a Magician and his best friend （the snake） as they work through friendship AND a curse！ This made me actually a little bummed， but it was super cute so I love it。The Witch and Her Soul:Weird as heck， but you can sure tell Mignola just loves to draw little puppet men， and I love when he does it too。 Hankel and Manx are freed from the burden of slavery to their witch master， only to be given a new devilish assignment from the Devil himself。The Prisoner of Mars:Mr Snaps misadventures， getting hanged， reincarnation， visiting mars， reincarnating on Mars in a robo body， and then stopping an Earth destroying plot and all before drinks at the pup with his boys。 I could go for some more tales of Mr。 Snap。Good stuff！ I hope Mignola publishes more of his weirdo one-offs！ 。。。more

A bunch of oddball odds and ends from Mike Mignola。 These wacky but macabre tales are great。 You gotta love Abraham Lincoln sending a Screw-On Head on missions to stop Emperor Zombie。 One of the stories he wrote with his then seven year old daughter。 All the stories have that same sort of whimsy only a child could come up with combined with horror。

I have many thoughts on completing this book; amongst them are "WTF did I just read？"， "Well， that was weird。"， and "I need to discuss that new medication with my doctor， because， seriously， WTF did I just read？"But here's the thing: I really enjoyed this！ It was some whacked-out， crazy fun， and I had a blast reading it。 The stories are kinda surreal （one story， The Magician and the Snake， was written by Mignola's 7 year old daughter， and children are great surrealists）， the art is gloomy and go I have many thoughts on completing this book; amongst them are "WTF did I just read？"， "Well， that was weird。"， and "I need to discuss that new medication with my doctor， because， seriously， WTF did I just read？"But here's the thing: I really enjoyed this！ It was some whacked-out， crazy fun， and I had a blast reading it。 The stories are kinda surreal （one story， The Magician and the Snake， was written by Mignola's 7 year old daughter， and children are great surrealists）， the art is gloomy and gothic and very serious， and it all combines into a perfect mental palette cleanser。 Just delightful！ 。。。more
