Enjoyed this sweet rom com featuring a self-described curvy fitness influencer and a fireman。 Great enemies-to-lovers， slow burn energy with lots of fun banter。 It dealt with some serious topics about body positivity & self-acceptance well， if a little too abruptly & neatly。 Still， a fast & compelling read with characters I was really rooting for。

like this book wasn’t terrible， but it wasn’t an amazing romance story。 It was def a good overview on learning how to love yourself through the bad tho。 i loved Scotty but lowkey Crystal kind of annoyed me。 I dont know if it was just me or what。 I will def be reading the sequel but just bc I know Trevor would be hot in real life

i loved this book so much oml！！ like the characters were super lovable， and the fact that the mc is plussize and the whole story kinda focuses on her journey with self acceptance and dealing with not constantly loving her body was just overall such an amazing message。

Book 96 of 2022I wanted to love this one…I truly did。 Unfortunately， it just fell short for me。 Was it all bad？ Definitely not！ I absolutely loved our male MC， Scott。 He was sweet， a family man， and a firefighter。 He had his priorities figured out & was mature。 I also loved the Crystal’s grandma。 She was a hoot！What I didn’t love was our main character。 Again， I *really* wanted to。 Partway through the book， she gets mad at Scott for “keeping secrets” from her， an insecurity of hers from her prev Book 96 of 2022I wanted to love this one…I truly did。 Unfortunately， it just fell short for me。 Was it all bad？ Definitely not！ I absolutely loved our male MC， Scott。 He was sweet， a family man， and a firefighter。 He had his priorities figured out & was mature。 I also loved the Crystal’s grandma。 She was a hoot！What I didn’t love was our main character。 Again， I *really* wanted to。 Partway through the book， she gets mad at Scott for “keeping secrets” from her， an insecurity of hers from her previous relationship。 The way she handled it was too much。 Major overreaction。 It was not his news to share。 I didn’t see it as keeping a secret。 THEN， she goes and “keeps secrets” from Scott when she doesn’t like how her post about the two of them went viral。 She wasn’t honest with him。 Pot， meet kettle。 It just felt so immature & hypocritical， if I’m being honest。 The two main characters also lacked connection。 I couldn’t see them as a couple。 On top of that， I struggled with the fact that Crystal is supposed to be an authority on her brand， but she wasn’t。 She wasn’t practicing what she was preaching。 Her character just felt messy and all over the place。 Sigh…it wasn’t all bad。 There was a point where it picked up & I found myself wanting to read “just one more chapter。” O also enjoyed the text message conversations & the way it read on the page vs on audio。Format: paperback 。。。more

Book 63 of 2022There was a lot of hype around this one and I was excited to see what @AmyLea did with it -- but sadly， it was a big bundle of disappointment。 I struggle to even write a review because there are a few soapboxes I want to jump on， but I will try and refrain。 There were parts of this I liked， truly I did。 I especially liked the male lead， Scott， who was one of those great book-boyfriends。 He was also a fireman， and I realized that I need MORE romantic comedies with firemen in them。B Book 63 of 2022There was a lot of hype around this one and I was excited to see what @AmyLea did with it -- but sadly， it was a big bundle of disappointment。 I struggle to even write a review because there are a few soapboxes I want to jump on， but I will try and refrain。 There were parts of this I liked， truly I did。 I especially liked the male lead， Scott， who was one of those great book-boyfriends。 He was also a fireman， and I realized that I need MORE romantic comedies with firemen in them。BUT this female lead was a hot mess。 She was ALL over the place。 She had major over-reactions to Scott， while at the same time doing the exact same thing。 It was also clear that the author was using this character to promote her own personal feelings about a variety of issues， including "body positivity。" Unfortunately， it was not successful。 Any positive or encouraging message that could have come from this was lost in a sea of messiness。 I have a lot of personal feelings about the body positivity movement， and I think that it is a generation of women who are being lied to。 There is nothing positive about it， but I will refrain from my soapbox here。 Overall， I feel the same way here as I did when I read Sarah Hogle's "You Deserve Each Other。" Was it horrible， no。 But was it memorable？ Nope。 It will sadly fall to the bottom of the list of books I have read this year， and Scott's wonderful leading-man attributes won't be enough to save it。 Rating -- three starsFormat -- audio book 。。。more

Set On You by Amy Lea is a delightful romance featuring plus-size Chinese American fitness influencer Crystal and I absolutely loved it。 I knew just from reading the dedication that I would fall in love with this one。 The message of being worth it just for being you is so heartfelt and clearly felt throughout the book。 The fact that Crystal doesn't have to learn to embrace her body and respect herself because she already does from the beginning is wonderful。 The fact that she works out regularly Set On You by Amy Lea is a delightful romance featuring plus-size Chinese American fitness influencer Crystal and I absolutely loved it。 I knew just from reading the dedication that I would fall in love with this one。 The message of being worth it just for being you is so heartfelt and clearly felt throughout the book。 The fact that Crystal doesn't have to learn to embrace her body and respect herself because she already does from the beginning is wonderful。 The fact that she works out regularly and is still plus sized is so realistic because this is true！ You can train daily and still be curvy and I loved that this is shown here。 I adored Crystal and her positivity， her messages on her Instagram where she promotes ditching the scales and just learning to embrace yourself。 And let's not forget Scott， our love interest。 I will admit I started out a bit rocky with him （how DARE he steal her equipment） but I soon warmed up。 Their rivalry is adorable and the way their relationship formed was wonderful。 The development of rivals， to friends， to lovers was brilliantly done and I adored how they were friends first before taking that next step。 This is definitely a book that will fill you with warmth and just all round good vibes。 The perfect one to reach for if you're feeling low or down about yourself。 I highly recommend this one to any romance reader out there and I'll be eagerly awaiting Lea's next novel！ 。。。more
