Im not sure why there are so many bad reviews of this book。 I want to feel super prepared as this is my first pregnancy and this book helped me feel prepared。 I don’t think it made me worry too much and that’s coming from someone who typically would worry too much it actually calmed my nerves about a lot and helped me plan。

Excellent reference book, wouldn't recommend sitting and reading it cover to cover。 It's very dense but classic for a reason。 Excellent reference book, wouldn't recommend sitting and reading it cover to cover。 It's very dense but classic for a reason。 。。。more

Took me 9 months, but I’m very happy I read it all。 It made me feel much more prepared for pregnancy。

Had to read this classic! The copy I have is not the latest edition; it's from the 90s so there is quite a bit of outdated information。 I read it with that understanding, although there is plenty of timeless advice in there as well。 Had to read this classic! No rating for this book。 It’s been a helpful guide through my pregnancy。 Helped as a grounding point to know symptoms I was feeling at that time were normal, and to get ideas of what’s ahead。

So comprehensive。

Overwhelming amount of information, but it's broken down into easy to read (or skip) sections。 I could not stand the writing voice/style。 Also if I had a dollar for every time this book mentions kegels。。。 Overwhelming amount of information, but it's broken down into easy to read (or skip) sections。 I could not stand the writing voice/style。 Also if I had a dollar for every time this book mentions kegels。。。 。。。more

A little dry, but comprehensive。 I did skip detailed reading of some parts on everything that can possibly go wrong and that you have no control over anyways, I really don't need more to worry about! Great book ! So informative ! The only bad thing is that the person who reads the book voice is so annoying

Kaitlin Jundt

Very informative! This helped me get through 9 months of so many questions!

I bought my copy in 2004 and loved it。 For me it was more like a reference book, I took what I needed from it, but did not read all of it because that would have been overwhelming。 5 out of 5 stars。

This one's a Bible for a reason! Good solid advice on all fronts。 Used this as a go-to for many things that came up during my wife's pregnancy。 The author is not extreme in her views and manges to straddle a moderate view (a hard thing considering how pregnancy is such an opinionated topic)。 The companion app is very good as well。 Thank you Heidi! ♥️ This one's a Bible for a reason! Pretty basic information, but great for a first time mom! I have four children now but this book helped me a lot with the first few。 I definitely want to read the first year now as I'm having another baby and had a very large gap between children。 This book gives detailed information about pregnancy, development of your baby, and what to expect during/after labor and other helpful tips and information。 Pretty basic information, but great for a first time mom! A very informative book not just about pregnancy but also about labour and newborns。 A must read!

Very helpful!

Very comprehensive but sometimes the tone was a little too light for me, and some of the tips seemed out dated。 Overall good read to build knowledge and understand each week。 There may be better books out there for you though

What I wanted/needed was an encyclopedia presentation to answer my questions。 What this gave me was a little bit on "what's happening at this stage" plus a *huge list of terrible things that might happen at any moment*。 No thanks。 What I wanted/needed was an encyclopedia presentation to answer my questions。 What this gave me was a little bit on "what's happening at this stage" plus a *huge list of terrible things that might happen at any moment*。 No thanks。 。。。more

Дуже хороша книга, особливо для спільного читання вагітної жінки з чоловіком。 Багато пояснень, легкий формат викладу матеріалу, багато аспектів враховано。Однозначно рекомендую!

Reference Information buried in magazine style fake “I’m your best friend” tone。 I cringed my way through it。 There is information hence 2 stars。 You can get that else where。 Certainly not reading the follow up。

I’m kind of surprised this has such not so great reviews。 I found it extremely informative and the information in here (the way it was presented I guess) did not scare or concern me, it just felt like I learned the basics about every possible thing that could be happening with my body during pregnancy。 After reading this as a first timer I definitely plan to keep it incase we decide to add to the family again。 Every pregnancy is different and while a lot of the things that this went over did not I’m kind of surprised this has such not so great reviews。 I found it extremely informative and the information in here (the way it was presented I guess) did not scare or concern me, it just felt like I learned the basics about every possible thing that could be happening with my body during pregnancy。 After reading this as a first timer I definitely plan to keep it incase we decide to add to the family again。 Every pregnancy is different and while a lot of the things that this went over did not come in handy this time, I’m glad I was made aware of them in some context and will be keeping it around for future reference just incase。 。。。more

Super exhaustive and complete guide about every single step in pregnancy。 It's aimed at an audience of pregnant women, but it also has some boxes with tips for dads。 It describes everything that can go wrong so it can be a little bit stressing if you read everything and worry too much, but the information is super complete。 Is also heavily based on the American health system so some things don't apply abroad。 Still a super complete guide on many parenting topics, a way to feel you're not the onl Super exhaustive and complete guide about every single step in pregnancy。 It's aimed at an audience of pregnant women, but it also has some boxes with tips for dads。 It describes everything that can go wrong so it can be a little bit stressing if you read everything and worry too much, but the information is super complete。 Is also heavily based on the American health system so some things don't apply abroad。 Still a super complete guide on many parenting topics, a way to feel you're not the only one going though stuff。 。。。more

I guess I’ll have to write my own pregnancy book since I’ve hated pretty much every one I’ve read。 This edition was published in 2016, but it already feels outdated。 Very corny and preachy。 My mom told me she loved it in the 80s, and it probably should have stayed in that decade。

Erika Hazi

This book was very comprehensive, but I liked that it had pretty much everything in there that I could want to learn about pregnancy and I could just skip the parts that didn’t apply to me。 It was definitely reassuring too in explaining that most changes to your body are just normal parts of pregnancy。 My only criticism is some of the language used around gender that was quite old fashioned。 Comments like ‘boys will be boys’ when talking about sperm count in baby boys are quite gross。 And the la This book was very comprehensive, but I liked that it had pretty much everything in there that I could want to learn about pregnancy and I could just skip the parts that didn’t apply to me。 It was definitely reassuring too in explaining that most changes to your body are just normal parts of pregnancy。 My only criticism is some of the language used around gender that was quite old fashioned。 Comments like ‘boys will be boys’ when talking about sperm count in baby boys are quite gross。 And the language could definitely be more inclusive of different types of parenting relationships rather than assuming that parents are always one man and one woman。 。。。more

Incredible comprehensive。 Interesting read for someone interested in learning about women's health。 However, I wouldn't recommend cover to cover reading for the light browser。 Incredible comprehensive。 Interesting read for someone interested in learning about women's health。 However, I wouldn't recommend cover to cover reading for the light browser。 。。。more

I got this book for my Kindle and I've hated just about every minute I've spent reading it。 It was first published in 1986 and it still reads that way。 The format is terrible (here's info about a week or set of weeks, then 25 FAQs that are maybe tangentially related)。 I got about halfway through in 4+ months and I'm finally giving up。 The What to Expect app has been great, but save yourself the time and agony of reading the book。 I got this book for my Kindle and I've hated just about every minute I've spent reading it。 It was first published in 1986 and it still reads that way。 The format is terrible (here's info about a week or set of weeks, then 25 FAQs that are maybe tangentially related)。 I got about halfway through in 4+ months and I'm finally giving up。 The What to Expect app has been great, but save yourself the time and agony of reading the book。 。。。more
