Summary

Fix your health with fibre not fads - the instant New York Times bestseller

The benefits of restrictive diets like paleo and keto have been touted for more than a decade, but as award-winning gastroenterologist Dr Will Bulsiewicz, or 'Dr B', illuminates in this groundbreaking book, the explosion of studies on the microbiome show that elimination diets are in fact hazardous to our health。 What research clearly indicates is that gut health is the key to boosting our metabolism, balancing our hormones and taming the inflammation that causes a host of diseases。 And the scientifically proven way to fuel our guts is with dietary fibre from an abundant variety of colourful plants。

As a former junk-food junkie, Dr B knows first-hand the power of fibre to dramatically transform our health and the good news is that our guts can be trained。 Fibre-rich, real foods - fruits, vegetables, whole grains, seeds, nuts and legumes - start working quickly and maintain your long-term health, promote weight loss and allow you to thrive and feel great from the inside out。

Fibre Fuelled is so much more than a health book: it's a step-by-step methodology to stop the misinformation caused by the diet industry and to show you the simple, science-backed process for a lifestyle that is effortless, sustainable and above all else transforms your health by optimizing your gut microbiome。

With a 28-day jumpstart programme that includes menus, over 70 plant-fuelled recipes, essential advice on food sensitivities and detailed shopping lists, Fibre Fuelled offers the blueprint to start turbocharging your gut for lifelong health。

Ah that was fantastic, I learned SO MUCH! I feel grateful for resources like this that not only empower me to make nutritional choices that optimize my health & lead to long-term vitality but as a mom of 3 young children who is responsible for their nutritional foundation, resources like this are so important to me。 I am inspired!!

Yes eating a wide variety of plants is a good idea and there’s lots of terrific information about the gut but the 4 week food plan is littered with lectin bombs。

really motivating to eat a diversity of plant-based foods and treat your gut microbiome well! I've been cooking a lot of recipes in the four week meal plan, so it has been fun to change up my meal prep too。 really motivating to eat a diversity of plant-based foods and treat your gut microbiome well! I really enjoyed listening to this audiobook, and I think it will help me refocus my efforts to eat more plant-based meals and stay healthy。 After listening to the audiobook, I borrowed the ebook edition (with ISBN13 9780593084571) to get more information and recipes。

Curious about food as medicine and how the food you eat affects your health? Fiber Fueled is fascinating。 The relatively new discoveries about gut biome health make so much sense to me given a number of health questions throughout my life。 I have eaten more plant based meals the last few years but I need to eat a more diverse selection。 I believe I have not been satisfied with mostly plant based because I'm not eating enough of them。 The information about gut bacteria and poop is interesting。 I would be a big supporter of a lentils and legumes council to lobby for better Fiber Fueled is fascinating。 The relatively new discoveries about gut biome health make so much sense to me given a number of health questions throughout my life。 I have eaten more plant based meals the last few years but I need to eat a more diverse selection。 I believe I have not been satisfied with mostly plant based because I'm not eating enough of them。 The information about gut bacteria and poop is interesting。 I would be a big supporter of a lentils and legumes council to lobby for better nutrition education as well as funding for farmers。 Let's redirect the cheese, dairy, and beef funding to plant and healthy eating education and subsidies for a healthier world with fewer obesity-related diseases。 。。。more

FANTASTIC read! This, along with Simon Hill’s “The Proof Is In the Plants,” are nutrition books that everyone should read! Very well written。 My favorite part about this book is that there is a strong emphasis on high quality scientific evidence。 Definitely recommend this one!

Microbiomes are something relatively new in the health world。 This book is an introduction in how microbiomes affect the gut health and overall mortality

Weronika Borejko

Nothing new or insightful in comparison to other books tackling the microbiota topic。 Great plus that it includes recipes but they are over complicated。

Written with language that seems like teenage girl is the intended audience (I know it’s not) , but I like the message

What a book。 So informative。 Such a unique approach to gut health and finally learning the nutrition to support it。 It’s like reading the personalized diet prescribed by your local gastrointestinal doctor but so much better。 Can’t wait to pass on the knowledge, thanks Dr B!

Not sure how to rate it before I try the plan but been on a multi year journey trying to figure out what's wrong with me and this is just another stop on the path。 All this sounds very familiar and I'll try this diet next I guess。 I'll come back and update with a proper rating after that。 Hopefully I have a five stars it finally fixed me Not sure how to rate it before I try the plan but been on a multi year journey trying to figure out what's wrong with me and this is just another stop on the path。 All this sounds very familiar and I'll try this diet next I guess。 I'll come back and update with a proper rating after that。 Hopefully I have a five stars it finally fixed me 。。。more

The science is compelling and I enjoyed the first half of this book enough to want to work towards a fully plant based diet。 However, wtf was that 4 week plan? He claims he tried to keep it simple? Pages of ingredients for every week, recipes with tons of ingredients? I was super excited to start and then immediately got overwhelmed by the plan。 I'll be looking for other plant based plans/recipes to follow。 The science is compelling and I enjoyed the first half of this book enough to want to work towards a fully plant based diet。 However, wtf was that 4 week plan? While there's plenty of information that all people should know about fiber and nutrition, there is far too much science for most readers。 While I'm on board with 95% of what the author promotes, his preachy tone is a bit much。 While he promotes a 90-10 lifestyle--90% of your meals plant-based and 10% "anything else," he continually says that anything other than Vegan style is not good for you。 He claims to be a steak lover who now can't stand the taste of steak, which I'm hard-pressed to believ While there's plenty of information that all people should know about fiber and nutrition, there is far too much science for most readers。 While I'm on board with 95% of what the author promotes, his preachy tone is a bit much。 While he promotes a 90-10 lifestyle--90% of your meals plant-based and 10% "anything else," he continually says that anything other than Vegan style is not good for you。 He claims to be a steak lover who now can't stand the taste of steak, which I'm hard-pressed to believe。 I know it's not the best choice, and I eat very little of it, but I love a good steak when I do indulge。 If you're struggling with weight, or you just don't feel good, read this book and adopt most of the author's strategies。 Eat what you love occasionally, though。 A balanced life is a great life。 。。。more

Well written, well explained guide to being more plant forward。 Gets a little scientific in parts but I like knowing the why。 Already implemented plant points in the family and going over well!

The author explains the science more clearly than many other books on this subject but there's no new information here and if there were you wouldn't know since nothing is cited (apparently he'll kindly share his citations and tells you so at the end of every chapter but anybody with two brain cells to rub together knows that's not acceptable publishing behaviour and it makes me suspicious。 Also the recipes sound terrible。) The author explains the science more clearly than many other books on this subject but there's no new information here and if there were you wouldn't know since nothing is cited (apparently he'll kindly share his citations and tells you so at the end of every chapter but anybody with two brain cells to rub together knows that's not acceptable publishing behaviour and it makes me suspicious。 Also the recipes sound terrible。) 。。。more

I have read several books on plant based eating。 While this one doesn’t have a ton of new insights, it does present the information in a clear, concise way that I feel is easy to understand while still siting many scientific findings。 There are new studies related to gut health that I found interesting and I liked the focus on the whys of fiber itself。 Overall a great read for those interested in plant based diets。 Much more concise than reading a book like How Not to Die which is great of you w I have read several books on plant based eating。 While this one doesn’t have a ton of new insights, it does present the information in a clear, concise way that I feel is easy to understand while still siting many scientific findings。 There are new studies related to gut health that I found interesting and I liked the focus on the whys of fiber itself。 Overall a great read for those interested in plant based diets。 Much more concise than reading a book like How Not to Die which is great of you want something shorter。 。。。more
