Summary

A Navy SEAL has nothing left to live for and everything to kill for after he discovers that the American government is behind the deaths of his team in this ripped-from-the-headlines political thriller。

On his last combat deployment, Lieutenant Commander James Reece’s entire team was killed in a catastrophic ambush that also claimed the lives of the aircrew sent in to rescue them。 But when those dearest to him are murdered on the day of his homecoming, Reece discovers that this was not an act of war by a foreign enemy but a conspiracy that runs to the highest levels of government。

Now, with no family and free from the military’s command structure, Reece applies the lessons that he’s learned in over a decade of constant warfare toward avenging the deaths of his family and teammates。 With breathless pacing and relentless suspense, Reece ruthlessly targets his enemies in the upper echelons of power without regard for the laws of combat or the rule of law。

An intoxicating thriller that cautions against the seduction of absolute power and those who would do anything to achieve it, The Terminal List is perfect for fans of Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, Stephen Hunter, and Nelson DeMille。

Good revenge story。 Not spectacular。

Wow…just wow! This is a “stay up late, get up early” kind of book! A graphic depiction of a Navy Seal’s experience during and after his enlistment。 (Written by a former Navy Seal so very accurate。) I look forward to reading Jack Carr’s next book。 Movie is coming on early July on Amazon Prime。

Will Hollywood release this movie?I can't see how left leaning Hollywood will permit this exciting, thrilling, primal, and anti-politically correct (but let's admit, politically diverse perspective), will make it to the big screen。 We'll see。 Will Hollywood release this movie?I can't see how left leaning Hollywood will permit this exciting, thrilling, primal, and anti-politically correct (but let's admit, politically diverse perspective), will make it to the big screen。 We'll see。 。。。more

This book is utter shit。It is a republican's wet dream couched in the guise of a Will Robie /Jason Bourne type vengeance story。 I read about 75% of it and had to give up after that due to extremely overt politicization of events in the story。 I am not even an American, but this book made me want to puke at its approval of killing non-whites, it's condoning of white terrorism and general all round bull shit that we have become used to in the last twenty years from the USA。Avoid this book and this This book is utter shit。It is a republican's wet dream couched in the guise of a Will Robie /Jason Bourne type vengeance story。 I read about 75% of it and had to give up after that due to extremely overt politicization of events in the story。 I am not even an American, but this book made me want to puke at its approval of killing non-whites, it's condoning of white terrorism and general all round bull shit that we have become used to in the last twenty years from the USA。Avoid this book and this author。 If there were negative ratings, this asshole of an author would get it。 。。。more

Absolute garbage, regurgitation of every bad action movie you´ve seen, now turned into a book and being produced as tv series。 This is worse than Tommy Hilfiger。

I always feel the need to preference my reviews with, "I read with Audible"。 That said, very good read。 This is my first Jack Carr book, and I got the recommendation from an interview I watched with Gregg Hurwitz and Jack Carr。 This book has a similar feel to that of the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz, and I gather the Terminal List series will have a similar story line。 I realize this is only the first in the series, but one thing that piqued my interest was the speed at which it progresses。。 I always feel the need to preference my reviews with, "I read with Audible"。 That said, very good read。 This is my first Jack Carr book, and I got the recommendation from an interview I watched with Gregg Hurwitz and Jack Carr。 This book has a similar feel to that of the Orphan X series by Gregg Hurwitz, and I gather the Terminal List series will have a similar story line。 I realize this is only the first in the series, but one thing that piqued my interest was the speed at which it progresses。。。。。。it's satisfying in some ways, though a bit less dramatic。 While Carr is not on the level of Hurwitz at this point (if I'm correct, this is Carr's first book) I believe his skills will develop。 Though it will take a major shift to ever overtake my favorite Orphan X series。 This book is narrated by Ray Porter and it was the first time I had experienced his narrations too。 He proved to be a very good choice, and I eventually found appreciation。 My favorite narrator is Scott Brick, and while I believe Brick would've resulted in a better production, I think Porter was the right fit for this series。 I can't help but make these comparisons as the series are of a very similar genre, and it is natural to make that connection。 I definitely would recommend this book, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series。 。。。more

If I could have stuck with the book longer, I’m sure he would have killed someone with a cheese grater, hopefully some stupid lib who placed his recycling bin too close to Reece’s cool old truck。 Totally deserved it!I love thrillers。 Have read hundreds of them。 But this stinker left me cold。 。。。more

Written by a true believer, Mr。 Carr, portrays the world in black and white in this modern day cowboy novel。 Wronged by greedy corporate titans, hypocritical governmental aspirants, spineless careerist military leaders, our vigilante hero seeks justice his own way。 Filled with stereotyped characters, anti-liberal bias and a machine gun writing style this is not an unpleasant read if eager to reinforce an non-nuanced view of our complex world。

Gayle A Nemeroff

Great new character!A big fan of both Orphan X and Jack Reacher books, Jack Carr introduces us to a compelling character with amazing and authentic details from his days as a Navy SEAL。 I can’t wait to read the next 4 books published after this one, and see Chris Pratt in the upcoming movie role。

An excellent initial tale by the author。 Told with real world experience as a true warrior that leaves the reader on the edge of their seat。 I am a true Commander Reece fan and can't wait to see where Mr。 Carr leads him next。 Well worth the time investment to read。 An excellent initial tale by the author。 Told with real world experience as a true warrior that leaves the reader on the edge of their seat。 I am a true Commander Reece fan and can't wait to see where Mr。 Carr leads him next。 Well worth the time investment to read。 。。。more

Carr's first novel has been criticized as being outrageously violent, and it IS that。 It's a revenge novel written by a former Navy SEAL with combat experience, which makes for a violent novel catering to an audience that craves that sort of novel。 It is also very realistic in its depictions of violence。Carr follows a few formulas: Create a sympathetic protagonist who is a highly trained special forces operative and who has people in his life who are perfectly lovely and adore him。 Have ruthless Carr's first novel has been criticized as being outrageously violent, and it IS that。 It's a revenge novel written by a former Navy SEAL with combat experience, which makes for a violent novel catering to an audience that craves that sort of novel。 It is also very realistic in its depictions of violence。Carr follows a few formulas: Create a sympathetic protagonist who is a highly trained special forces operative and who has people in his life who are perfectly lovely and adore him。 Have ruthless sociopaths kill the latter。 Unleash the Kraken。 It's not a new formula in either novels or movies。 I recall the Mack Bolen "Executioner" pulp series of the seventies。 Carr's work reminds me of that, but he's a far better writer than Don Pendleton ever was。Where Carr excels is in his realistic writing。 He brings his experience to bear, and he's able to describe it in such a way that the reader receives an entertaining education on Spec Ops equipment, tactics, and training。 The narrative loses nothing in the telling of it, indeed, it is enhanced。There are a few flaws。 An example: At one point Carr has his protagonist, James Reece, look into the "dead eyes" of a guy who hasn't died yet。 None of the mistakes are groaners, though, and the story is still entertaining for those that can stomach the violence。Carr's politics seep through a bit。 Am I wrong in thinking that two of the villains in this story are patterned closely after Bill and Hillary Clinton? 。。。more

This book is a well-written revenge tale that was gripping and a story that I really enjoyed。 It did a good job of setting up a new anti-hero series of books, and I am especially excited about the fact that this has been adapted into an Amazon Prime TV show (the reason I picked up this book in the first place) and that the author is pleased with how the adaptation has been handled (a rarity in this modern world)。 However, there are two issues I have with this book that has resulted in the loss o This book is a well-written revenge tale that was gripping and a story that I really enjoyed。 It did a good job of setting up a new anti-hero series of books, and I am especially excited about the fact that this has been adapted into an Amazon Prime TV show (the reason I picked up this book in the first place) and that the author is pleased with how the adaptation has been handled (a rarity in this modern world)。 However, there are two issues I have with this book that has resulted in the loss of a star in this review: 1 - Modern-Day PoliticsI am the first person to point out when politics I disagree with find their way into fiction, sucking me out of the story and back into the world I'm reading fiction to escape。 I, therefore, feel obligated to call it out here even though my views fall more in line with those portrayed in this book。 I have said it before and I'll say it again, the reason I don't want modern-day politics in books is that I think that for the most part, fictional stories are better when they are politically neutral, or at least very subtle with political inserts, and this book is no exception。 There was no need for the strong, anti-democrat stances in this book, and while I find them a little less intrusive than the other side thanks to my own tastes, I still think they were a net negative to this story rather than a positive。 2 - Weak CharactersThe author didn't really do that great a job with the characters in this book。 I obviously identify with the protagonist and his struggle, but outside of that, most of the character work in this book is surface-level at best。 It made it hard to tell one secondary character from the next, and it made the revenge mission a little shallow when the people the protagonist is going after started to feel like faceless caricatures there to serve the plot, rather than real characters。 Ultimately though, these issues didn't impede my enjoyment of this book all that much。 The first issue was a frustrating niggle and the second issue just meant that I assign this book to an easy reading category, rather than anything more meaningful。 However, that second issue is the one that I will be watching most closely going forward。 I am a fan of character-driven stories and while I am excited about the next story, my interest in this series will start to fade if it is nothing more than a series of moderately interesting premises with tight pacing and decent action。 For this book though, I can give it a positive recommendation。 I have high hopes for future novels, and very high hopes for the TV series。 I think that this was a story that will adapt very nicely for TV, and that might even be more enjoyable。 I guess we'll find out in July。 。。。more

I love reading stories where the author did the very thing they write about。 Gives me the feeling I'm right there on the inside of what's going on with Navy SEAL operations by a former SEAL。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages。 I'm glad he stuck a glossary of termis for all the acronyms in the book that had my head spinning。 I write my own share of acronyms in my fire books, so I empathize, but constantly flipping back and forth slowed down my own reading pace。 Anything ha I love reading stories where the author did the very thing they write about。 Gives me the feeling I'm right there on the inside of what's going on with Navy SEAL operations by a former SEAL。 This book kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages。 I'm glad he stuck a glossary of termis for all the acronyms in the book that had my head spinning。 I write my own share of acronyms in my fire books, so I empathize, but constantly flipping back and forth slowed down my own reading pace。 Anything having to do with the military ops are filled with shortcuts to say things。 In the heat of battle or on a dangerous mission no none has time to say the long versions。 I get that。 I enjoyed this book though and will be reading his next one。 。。。more
