I'm going to start college in a short while, so I decided to read this book。 In all honesty, I've always been the student that never reviews anything and only studies one day before my tests。 That has worked 99% of the time, giving me good grades, but I know that it won't fly in college。 That's where this book comes in。Some stuff seems obvious and comes down to "Give yourself enough time to do a good job and don't pull all-nighters", but the author gave a lot of step-by-step explanations that se I'm going to start college in a short while, so I decided to read this book。 In all honesty, I've always been the student that never reviews anything and only studies one day before my tests。 That has worked 99% of the time, giving me good grades, but I know that it won't fly in college。 That's where this book comes in。Some stuff seems obvious and comes down to "Give yourself enough time to do a good job and don't pull all-nighters", but the author gave a lot of step-by-step explanations that seem useful。 The book was short and easy to read。 Can't really comment on its merits, but I think it might help me。 。。。more

This book changed my study habit and mindset in academics。 We were often told as kids, "You must be incredibly smart to achieve that excellent grade," but never, "You must have worked really hard to obtain that excellent grade。" It had taught me to believe that "He was probably too intelligent for me to ever be like him," when instead I should think, "That kid must have worked extremely hard to acquire that excellent grade, I can be like him。" I also applied the promodoro technique irl。 This book changed my study habit and mindset in academics。 We were often told as kids, "You must be incredibly smart to achieve that excellent grade," but never, "You must have worked really hard to obtain that excellent grade。" It had taught me to believe that "He was probably too intelligent for me to ever be like him," when instead I should think, "That kid must have worked extremely hard to acquire that excellent grade, I can be like him。" I also applied the promodoro technique irl。 。。。more

This book was a really easy read, packed with lots of helpful frameworks for getting different academic tasks done。 There were no world-changing strategies, but it was nice to read what high-achieving students do each day to ensure they get top grades。

I really enjoyed reading this book。 I liked the book because it is straight forward, just like the tips Cal gives。 Every sentence has it's place, and every one is very clear。 I wouldn't expect anything else from the author of a book on becoming an effective student! He gives concrete examples of how the advice given is applied, this helps so the reader can fully grasp it and see how easy it is。 I appreciated the Cheat Sheet sections after each parts, it was a great way of sticking it into our me I really enjoyed reading this book。 I liked the book because it is straight forward, just like the tips Cal gives。 Every sentence has it's place, and every one is very clear。 I wouldn't expect anything else from the author of a book on becoming an effective student! Pretty helpful but it addresses college students which is not really relatable at the moment。I will definitely reread it once I finish high school :)

The tone can be a little “how are you doing my fellow kids,” but its advice and guidance is useful for every kind of student, from freshmen in undergrad to PhD candidates。

Very useful。 As This book is a bit old it doesn't really takes in consideration the possibilities of Internet much and how that could dramatically reduce the time and energy spent。 Even though this was a very useful book。 Each topic has tons of explanation and detailed examples。 Which is useful for some topics and just for skim read for another topics。 This book is written in Simple English which is very useful when skim reading some things。 Very useful。 As This book is a bit old it doesn't really takes in consideration the possibilities of Internet much and how that could dramatically reduce the time and energy spent。 Even though this was a very useful book。 Each topic has tons of explanation and detailed examples。 Which is useful for some topics and just for skim read for another topics。 This book is written in Simple English which is very useful when skim reading some things。 。。。more

This is an amazing book , that gives you a detailed plan to work on when it comes to time management as a student , how to study for quizzes and tests and how to choose the important things to be aware of。 Also its a simple process to enjoy the best of the two sides of college - Learning and Socializing。

VERY nice concept to interview straight A students and use their tested techniques to get better grades。 The scheduling component of the program comes at the beginning of the book and it is important that the schedule techniques be learned first。 This allows for the time necessary to do all of the studying laid out in the rest of the book。

Probably the best book you could buy if you want techniques to improve your grades (the actual improvement starts with you!)。 An insightful read without any fluff。

Picking up this book was my way to take responsibility for my grades。 I has always been hard for me to study, I only enjoyed it on some random, specific occasions。 This book showed me exactly the life I would like to have while studying, not grinding 24/7, but having a perfect balance between my responsibilities and the things I want to do。 I will begin using the techniques for this semester I'm starting, I'm hopeful, I believe this book delivered every tool I require, now it's up to me to use t Picking up this book was my way to take responsibility for my grades。 I has always been hard for me to study, I only enjoyed it on some random, specific occasions。 This book showed me exactly the life I would like to have while studying, not grinding 24/7, but having a perfect balance between my responsibilities and the things I want to do。 I will begin using the techniques for this semester I'm starting, I'm hopeful, I believe this book delivered every tool I require, now it's up to me to use them。I really appreciate this types of books, it was practical, interesting and surprising too。 A great read for any and all students, at least to shed a light on different ways to study that noone has ever told us about。 。。。more

This has been lingering in my playlist for a while, so I'm happy to have knocked it out of the way。 A short and sweet audiobook on studying techniques specifically taylored for college students (but I find it can be adapted in other scenarios as well)。 It does the mistake of promising the world in the beginning while simultaneously putting down competition, but doesn't exactly deliver。 Majority of techniques are known for those who are familiar with studying or memorization techniques in general This has been lingering in my playlist for a while, so I'm happy to have knocked it out of the way。 A short and sweet audiobook on studying techniques specifically taylored for college students (but I find it can be adapted in other scenarios as well)。 It does the mistake of promising the world in the beginning while simultaneously putting down competition, but doesn't exactly deliver。 Majority of techniques are known for those who are familiar with studying or memorization techniques in general, as well as to those who have mastered their schedule and organization skills enough to realize its importance。 I didn't completely dislike the book due to a number of reasons: size was acceptable, it was concise and an useful revision despite regurgitation, it offered good examples and I definitely think it can be very useful for beginners and freshmen who never touched similar material。 This was just my personal rating。 。。。more

The reason I read this book was because I‘m interested in spending less time and score higher in school and it did not disappoint。Im still in highschool so i cant make use of everything he said but it was worth reading for the advice he gave that I can apply。 But I’ll reread it for sure if I‘ll go to college。

Definitely had a lot of good tips and ideas, however the book is pretty outdated and certain topics maybe irrelevant at points (Ex。 One part talked about bringing a laptop to class to take notes if you have one even if it feels embarrassing)
