Three volumes in and this series is still great! The plot I'd moving along at a nice pace while still keeping that misunderstanding interesting and not repetitively stale。 Each new chapter has me smiling so I cant wait to read more。 Plus the last few panels really look to add a new dynamic which I can't wait to see what it could be! Unoki now wants to date Toramaru, but feels it isn’t his place, even though she thinks they’re already a couple。 Unoki then finds support from an unlikely source, as it turns out that there are plenty of unrequited pairings to go around…It’s kind of strange to say, but this story does gay and melodramatic a lot better than it does its goofball comedy this time around, although Toramaru's dodgeball skills get explained in satisfyingly ridiculous fashion。Unoki’s brutally low self-esteem now has hi Unoki now wants to date Toramaru, but feels it isn’t his place, even though she thinks they’re already a couple。 Unoki then finds support from an unlikely source, as it turns out that there are plenty of unrequited pairings to go around…It’s kind of strange to say, but this story does gay and melodramatic a lot better than it does its goofball comedy this time around, although Toramaru's dodgeball skills get explained in satisfyingly ridiculous fashion。Unoki’s brutally low self-esteem now has him berating himself for daring to even consider liking Toramaru, which means that basically nothing has changed, even as she’s throwing out every signal possible, helpful or… less so (her brother’s endless appetite for shojo both helps and hinders this)。The story nearly pulls this all off, as it is completely plausible that somebody as hopeless as Unoki would never believe that he has a chance here, even as a romantic overnight trip reveals a whole other domestic side to Toramaru。 They’re pretty cute to watch, I have to admit。But the real drama comes from the smart and busty Yutaka, one of Toramaru’s underlings, who ends up sharing a lot in common with Unoki in terms of crushes that neither believes is possible。 See, it was hinted at before, but Yutaka is very much in love with Matsuri, the other female in the girl gang trio。 But Matsuri is infatuated with Toramaru and Yutaka feels the whole thing is hopeless。 It’s played a little for laughs, but mostly for some strong drama that I was not expecting。 A bedroom visit that seems a little playful ends on an utterly heartbreaking note when the wrong thing is said。What it does is add an extra dimension to all the complications as wrong assumptions are flying and Toramaru and Unoki remain hopelessly stuck in the weeds because one person can’t figure out how to get where they want to be and the other just assumes they’re already there (poor Toramaru doesn’t help her case any with her ‘well duh’ reaction to Unoki’s heartfelt expressions)。 When this was just a comedy it was pretty okay; adding in a little more by way of story beats helps it rely less on jokes that it was never especially amazing at。All in all, this is definitely stronger than the last volume - the overnight trip is very sweet and has some good laughs, the drama of all the yuri plus Matsuri helpfully thinking that Yutaka is in love with Unoki just because they talked in private (there’s probably an unintended statement here on male-female friendship), the aspect of pure evil that shows up in the cliffhanger…3。5 stars - it’s getting there, but no rounding up yet, since it has a little ways to go before I’m ready to upgrade it to really good from decent。 Still, if you liked the earlier volumes this one won’t disappoint。 。。。more
