Summary

Can these opposites turn up the heat… without burning down the house?

House-flipping sensation and YouTube star Maggie Nichols can’t wait to dig into her next challenge。 Arriving in tiny Kinship, Idaho, with only a cot and a coffeemaker, Maggie is prepared to restore a crumbling Victorian mansion in four months or less。 She has her to-do lists, her blueprints, and her team。 What she doesn’t have is time for sexy, laid-back landscaper Silas Wright。

The man takes flirtation to a whole new level。 And he does it shirtless…sometimes pants-less。 He and his service school-dropout dog are impressively persistent。 But she’s not interested in putting down roots。 Not when fans tune in to watch her travel the country turning dilapidated houses into dream homes。 A short-term fling on the other hand could fit nicely into her calendar。 After all, Maggie remembers what fun is like。 Vaguely。

As their summer gets downright steamy, Silas manages to demolish the emotional walls she’s spent years building, sending Maggie into a panic。 He’s the wrench in her carefully constructed plans。 With the end of the project looming, she has a decision to make。 But how can she stay when her entire career is built on moving on?

This was hands down my favorite Lucy Score yet! Maggie is a boss queen who is not looking for a relationship。 She was super relatable and did not come across as frigid at all。 When landscaper Silas arrives for his first day of work he falls into instant love。 His flirt mode is full court press this whole book and his easy charm makes you fall into instant love too。 Unfortunately for him Maggie needs a bit more convincing that he’s her dream man。 This whole story is about Maggie finding herself, This was hands down my favorite Lucy Score yet! This was my first Lucy Score Novel and for the most part I enjoyed it! There were a few things that fell flat for me, or didn’t really fit。 What I loved:- the small town feel; I want to visit Kinship, such a cozy town!- Found family and blended family- The witty banter and the overall humor。 I found my self grinning like an idiot so many times。-The Spice! What I didn’t love so much: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!! -Too many plots! The mystery with her family was interesting until it wasn’t。 It all came to a head and all tied up in like 2 pages。 Now, I love a good child/parent reconciliation, but I would have preferred that to be explored more。 It was such a big part of Maggie’s raising, it would have been nice to see her build a relationship with her dad, or include him in the renovation some how。 Then there was the treasure hunt and mystery of the Campbell family。 It just felt like a lot and I tended to get lost in it all。 -Silas。 I thought I liked him at first。 I liked his straight forward flirty attitude, but then he turned into a possessive a**hole super fast。 I didn’t like that he just shoved the relationship on Maggie。 It didn’t feel like she had a choice in being his girl friend。 -Maggie giving up her career。 She just gives up her career and everything she has worked for, it didn’t feel right for her character。 With all that to say, overall I have positive feelings about the book and I’m sure any fans of Lucy Score won’t be disappointed in this book! 。。。more

There's a lot to like about this romance novel。 The heroine - a renovation genius with her own YouTube show - is talented and successful, the secondary characters provide a variety of side plots, and the mystery thread is compelling without stealing the show。 Even though the book is on the long side, it's never boring。But I couldn't bring myself to get invented in the main romance, which is kind of the point of a book like this one, and that's because of the male lead。 Silas is a landscaper who There's a lot to like about this romance novel。 The heroine - a renovation genius with her own YouTube show - is talented and successful, the secondary characters provide a variety of side plots, and the mystery thread is compelling without stealing the show。 Even though the book is on the long side, it's never boring。But I couldn't bring myself to get invented in the main romance, which is kind of the point of a book like this one, and that's because of the male lead。 Silas is a landscaper who decides the first moment he sees Maggie that they are meant to be together - and that any disagreement on her part is pure bullheadedness。 He pursues her despite her repeated rejections, and after they begin what she clearly states is a casual relationship, he frequently and self-righteously violate her physical autonomy and emotional boundaries。 Of course, romance novels often glorify actions that wouldn't be acceptable or appealing in real life, and I can usually look past it。 But in this case, Silas's possessive and controlling behavior is really his only contribution (other than sex) to the relationship, so there wasn't anything to look past it to。 I enjoyed a lot of this book - the sections about Maggie's friends and Silas's family and the renovation and the mystery。 I would have rated this romance novel higher if the romance had been left out。 3。5 stars。[I received a complimentary ARC from NetGalley and the publisher。 Opinions are my own。] 。。。more

By the time it's time for her to leave she has made so many new connections and even started to rebuild one with her own sister。 I loved all the relationships in this book, it gave me so many feels and I didn't want it to end。 I highly recommend checking this one out when it is released June 21st of this year! Do you believe in signs? Silas Wright does。 The moment he lays eyes on YouTube sensation Maggie Nichols, he knows she's the girl for him。 Maggie and her partner, Dean Jensen, have come to the small town of Kinship, ID, to restore the Old Campbell Place for her internet home renovation show。 As soon as she wraps the last episode for the beach house they just finished up, she'll roll up her sleeves, work her magic on this Kinship house and move on to her next project。 It's what she does, and does Do you believe in signs? Silas Wright does。 The moment he lays eyes on YouTube sensation Maggie Nichols, he knows she's the girl for him。 Maggie and her partner, Dean Jensen, have come to the small town of Kinship, ID, to restore the Old Campbell Place for her internet home renovation show。 As soon as she wraps the last episode for the beach house they just finished up, she'll roll up her sleeves, work her magic on this Kinship house and move on to her next project。 It's what she does, and does best。 She’s spent her adult life rootless, moving from one reno to the next。Maggie may like the landscape plans Silas has for the Campbell place, but she has a firm rule never to date one of her contractors。 Sure, his easy charm, effortless flirting, and compassion for others are appealing, but her lists, schedules, spreadsheets, and timelines leave little room for a good time and none for a romantic relationship。 Except the more time she spends with Silas, the more she gets drawn into his world, his community, his family, and the beauty and majesty of the nature that surrounds them。The Wild West is steeped in history, especially in Kinship, and the Campbell place has its share of secrets。 Something Maggie should feel right at home with, since she has her own share of them。 As the secrets slowly unfold and work on the house progresses, the Universe takes the opportunity to teach Maggie a few life lessons she never dreamed of, and may be slightly reluctant to learning。A Lucy Score book is side-splitting laughter, hilarious mishaps and even madcap hijinks。 But it’s more。 So much more。 It's heart-rending emotion, stunning profoundness and heart-soaring delight。 And Maggie's story is even more, with this historic home renovation having the unintended consequences of cobbling and collecting a family, finding a home and learning what happiness truly means。Is it possible for this book to become a series? (*wink, wink* Grand Central)。 This is a world I want to live in forever。 I want to move to Kinship and become a part of the fabric of daily life there。 There are many grand parties to come at the Old Campbell Place and so many characters to get to know a lot more about。 And I definitely need more of Kevin, the big butterball goof who flunked out of service dog training。With a quirky, endearing cast of secondary characters, a charming small-town setting, and poignant surprises that hit all the right notes, Maggie and Sy's romance has “best seller" written all over it。 This enchanting, emotive, phenomenal romance is one of the best I’ve ever read, one I’ll return to again, and one you absolutely won’t want to miss! 。。。more

I was so excited to receive an ARC from NetGalley for Lucy Score's new release。 As a fan of Things We Never Got Over and Forever Never, I had high hopes for "Maggie Moves On。"This book has so many of the things I look for in a summer read: an independent heroine, small-town goodness, a romance that sizzles, and an ensemble of characters that add quirk and heart to the story。 At the root of it, this is a book that celebrates the family you choose — not just the one you're born into。 My one concer I was so excited to receive an ARC from NetGalley for Lucy Score's new release。 As a fan of Things We Never Got Over and Forever Never, I had high hopes for "Maggie Moves On。"This book has so many of the things I look for in a summer read: an independent heroine, small-town goodness, a romance that sizzles, and an ensemble of characters that add quirk and heart to the story。 At the root of it, this is a book that celebrates the family you choose — not just the one you're born into。 My one concern going into this book, knowing a big part of Maggie's story is her love for sharing her renovation journey on her popular YouTube channel, was that the social media storyline would feel cheesy (as often tends to be the case when I read about characters in the influencer world — probably because it's a little too close to my own world, haha)。 That wasn't the case here!I had such a fun time with this one。 The relationships between all of the characters (beyond just Maggie and Silas' fire chemistry) is what truly makes this a memorable one for me。。。。。 a worthy addition to any book lover's beach bag this year 🎉*Book provided by publisher, but all thoughts are my own 。。。more

But while reading it, nothing felt like it was dragging or being put in just to fluff up for length。Once you add in the found family aspect, the romance, and a bit of a treasure hunt - all of the pages make sense! And you're riveted to every aspect!THINGS I LIKED:✨ I am pretty much obsessed with all things found family。 Things like the Single Parents TV show or the movie Instant Family, or even more recently when I read THE GODPARENT TRAP - I love it when people who are unrelated find each other make a home & a family。 Here you have Wallace, Cody, Dean, and Maggie all living in the same house, and somehow (even though some of them have a tough past or are overly crotchety) they are there for each other & strive to make everyone feel loved。✨ The sibling text message exchanges! DEAD。 Absolutely love seeing siblings ruthlessly make fun of each other & then end it with, "Love you, byyyyyeee。" ✨ Small towns are always a good time。 They give kind of "Gilmore Girls" vibes where everyone knows everyone and news travels very, very fast。 ✨ I really liked that Silas pushed Maggie's boundaries。 And even though some of the things he did were kind of icky & possessive, for the most part he was doing the right thing and making Maggie rediscover parts of herself that she had hidden away。✨ Maggie's sister。 Classic。✨ Dual POV! As all romances should be。THINGS I DIDN'T LOVE:✨ Maybe it's just me, but the whole "Who did this to you?" and "You're mine" tropes don't quite work for me。 So while 80% of Silas was swoon worthy, the other 20% was kind of ick?✨ I wish we got a family tree? I mostly understood how Silas's family was put together, but almost not really?✨ More treasure hunt! This was a super intriguing part of the story, and it was kind of hurried?10/10 would recommend! 。。。more

I loved that Maggie and Silas were in their 30s, and the fact that neither had found their person wasn't frowned upon or seen as bizarre。 I hope that their is a spinoff novel focusing on Dean and Michael because I found myself quickly latching on to their relationship and wanting to get to know them both more。 Silas' family is so broad that there are plenty of characters we could follow in the universe。。That said, I did not love Silas pretty much at all。 He grew on me slowly, but right from the start I found him to be overbearing and demanding, immediately referring to Maggie in their first meeting as his "future wife。" This kind of alpha behavior was a turn-off for me, but it won't be for everyone。 There is a degree of others in his life forcing him to understand that just because he wants things to be a certain way doesn't mean that it will always happen on his timeline and that growth felt authentic。 I really enjoyed Maggie and the perfect amount of steam throughout the book。 Kevin, the dog, is hilarious and I was excited every time he was mentioned。 。。。more

Maggie Moves On was a sexy and fun romcom。 There was lots of flirty banter and small town shenanigans。 The ultra instalove was a bit jarring, but ultimately I liked how gone Silas was for Maggie。 There is never a question about his intentions or feelings and I appreciated how he truly saw and understood Maggie and what she needed。 Silas's family was a hoot, but it was the found family that stole the show。 I'm also always a fan of dogs in books, so Kevin was a fun addition。I think where the story Maggie Moves On was a sexy and fun romcom。 There was lots of flirty banter and small town shenanigans。 The ultra instalove was a bit jarring, but ultimately I liked how gone Silas was for Maggie。 There is never a question about his intentions or feelings and I appreciated how he truly saw and understood Maggie and what she needed。 Silas's family was a hoot, but it was the found family that stole the show。 I'm also always a fan of dogs in books, so Kevin was a fun addition。I think where the story stumbled for me was the numerous secondary characters and subplots。 There was A LOT going on in this novel。 The pacing was also on the slower side, which made the book feel too long。 The Campbell House mystery was intriguing and it helped wrap the end up in a nice bow, but it also took up a lot of page time。 Overall, an entertaining book, but I wish it had been a bit shorter。3。5 starsCW: death of parent (past), grief, parental estrangement/strained parental relationship*I voluntarily read an advance review copy of this book* 。。。more

As soon as he meets Maggie, he knows she's the one for him。 And so begins his mission to prove it to her, with the help of his very goofy but adorable dog, Kevin。 Silas is a serious charmer with just a hint of possessive alpha-hole。 And he makes up for his name (sorry, it just didn't jive with me) with his use of the pet name "darlin'"。。。 It gets me every time。So not only do we have these reverse grumpy/sunshine characters finding romance amidst a huge mansion renovation, there is a side of mystery and a treasure hunt?! This book is honestly a wild ride but I loved it。 And I loved seeing all the members of the small town become family to Maggie and her crew。I did find some of the "mystery" aspect to be somewhat predictable。。。 There was a bit of dialogue that made me cringe。。。 but, overall this was a very, very fun book and I am so thankful I was able to get an ARC copy! Read if you like:+ incorrigible, flirty banter that will make you blush+ small town mystery+ found family (that includes a dog and some kittens)+ HGTV and talk of house flips+ reverse grumpy/sunshine 。。。more

This enjoyable read has a lot going on, all of which I very much enjoyed: a sweetheart of a leading man who falls fast and hard, a tough leading gal whose trust in people needs to be rebuilt (and with very good reason), an adorable service-dog-dropout hound who steals the show, and a supporting cast that enhances the story significantly。 While the book is indeed long, I personally think that's a good thing when the story moves along well and the characters are likeable (such as is the case here) This enjoyable read has a lot going on, all of which I very much enjoyed: a sweetheart of a leading man who falls fast and hard, a tough leading gal whose trust in people needs to be rebuilt (and with very good reason), an adorable service-dog-dropout hound who steals the show, and a supporting cast that enhances the story significantly。 While the book is indeed long, I personally think that's a good thing when the story moves along well and the characters are likeable (such as is the case here); I'm definitely not complaining about getting to spend more time in this world of Kinship that Ms。 Score created。 While this book is certainly built around the budding romance between Maggie and Silas, and it's got an interesting little mystery running through it, I'd say the most important aspect of the story revolves around the relationships being both developed and repaired。 The plot is different and the ensemble cast enjoyable, ensuring that this story is one that will stand out in my memory rather than get lost among so many others。Thank you to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing an ARC for review。 。。。more

thanks Netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review Maggie Moves On is a romance book between a women who flips houses and a man who is a landscaper。 It's by Lucy Score, a romance author I've heard a lot about。 This was my first book by her although Things We Never Got Over is on my tbr。 This book had a cute romance and I loved the dog in it Kevin!! The guy also falls first, which is a trope I like。 It's a slow burn, but I didn't really connect with the characters or feel that hooked thanks Netgalley for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review Maggie Moves On is a romance book between a women who flips houses and a man who is a landscaper。 It's by Lucy Score, a romance author I've heard a lot about。 This was my first book by her although Things We Never Got Over is on my tbr。 This book had a cute romance and I loved the dog in it Kevin!! 3。5 stars It was a solid read for me, but parts didn't click with me。Maggie was a good heroine but Silas was a hit or miss throughout the book。 I liked that he fell in love first those kind of tropes are always fun, but then he would be dumb in many ways that turned me off。 I felt that the book either hit it's pace or slowed way down。 I am always up for a slow burn, but this one I got bored when it slowed。 3。5 stars It was a solid read for me, but parts didn't click with me。Maggie was a good heroine but Silas was a hit or miss throughout the book。 I liked that he fell in love first those kind of tropes are always fun, but then he would be dumb in many ways that turned me off。 I felt that the book either hit it's pace or slowed way down。 I am always up for a slow burn, but this one I got bored when it slowed。 。。。more

There were parts of this book that I loved so much! The found family theme is。。。*chef's kiss*。。。so good。 The collection of people who came together to form a ragtag family was heartwarming and adorable and it completely won my heart。 And, while insta love is a really really tough sell for me, I did love the way Silas doggedly pursued Maggie and the way she fell for him in a way that seemed to take her by surprise and definitely happened against her will。 And, of course, I loved Kevin and the kit There were parts of this book that I loved so much! I was so excited when I won an advanced copy from the Goodreads giveaways。 Lucy Score is one of my favorite authors and this story did not disappoint。 The story had humor, romance, heart, family dynamics, mystery, all the feels。 Maggie Nichols is a house flipper and YouTube celebrity who buys a run-down mansion in Idaho, a place that she always remembered from a vacation with her mom when she was a child。 Silas, the Hot Landscaper, knows Maggie is "the one" as soon as he meets her and doesn't he I was so excited when I won an advanced copy from the Goodreads giveaways。 Lucy Score is one of my favorite authors and this story did not disappoint。 The story had humor, romance, heart, family dynamics, mystery, all the feels。 Maggie Nichols is a house flipper and YouTube celebrity who buys a run-down mansion in Idaho, a place that she always remembered from a vacation with her mom when she was a child。 Silas, the Hot Landscaper, knows Maggie is "the one" as soon as he meets her and doesn't hesitate to let her know。 Lucy gives us a glimpse of what lies in the future of some of the characters in the story, but I wish the storyline and the characters would continue with their own books。 That is the only thing that I dislike about Lucy Score's books, I don't want the story to be over。 。。。more

Another big hit from Lucy Score。 I love the way she writes found family in a small town, romance, friendship, etc。 I loved this one。 Maggie & Sy were wonderful, and watching them fall in love was a dream。 Every single side character felt like family and truly, this was a story about blended and found families。 I loved seeing the journey of Maggie and the small town of Kinship restore this historical home, along with all of the signs and fate that brought Maggie right where she was supposed to be Another big hit from Lucy Score。 I love the way she writes found family in a small town, romance, friendship, etc。 I loved this one。 Maggie & Sy were wonderful, and watching them fall in love was a dream。 Every single side character felt like family and truly, this was a story about blended and found families。 I loved seeing the journey of Maggie and the small town of Kinship restore this historical home, along with all of the signs and fate that brought Maggie right where she was supposed to be。 The added mystery of trying to figure out the history of the house and the family who originally owned it was lots of fun too。 Plus more cute animals and hot men, always a win。 Definitely recommend this one!!! 。。。more
