Summary

The Iron Fey Saga continues…
Don't look at Them。 Never let Them know you can see Them。

That is Ethan Chase's unbreakable rule。 Until the fey he avoids at all costs begin to disappear, and Ethan is attacked。 Now he must change the rules to protect his family。 To save a girl he never thought he'd dare to fall for。

Ethan thought he had protected himself from his older sister's world—the land of Faery。 His previous time in the Iron Realm left him with nothing but fear and disgust for the world Meghan Chase has made her home, a land of myth and talking cats, of magic and seductive enemies。 But when destiny comes for Ethan, there is no escape from a danger long, long forgotten。

My name is Ethan Chase。 And I may not live to see my eighteenth birthday。

The things that saved this from being a single star: Victorian steampunk Iron Realm, Razor’s innocence, mild Grim sass, Kenzie’s plot twist (after spending a good deal of time just thinking her stupid), and the charming blackbird’s cameo。 Everything else was too dark and too poorly portrayed。

How was I supposed to know that there were even MORE of the Iron Fey series out there? 😍

No thoughts head emptyWill I hate read the rest of this sequel trilogy because I own them? Probably。Also, a Filipino character named Guro? Why。

The Lost Prince tells the story of Meghan's brother, Ethan。 13 years after Machina kidnapped him, Ethan doesn't want to have anything to do with the fey anymore。 They, on the other hand, make his life difficult because they play pranks on him all the time。 Once again, Ethan must attend a new school because of this。 There, he meets the half-blood Todd and Mackenzie, who is not discouraged by his unfriendly nature。 But when a new species of creepy fey appear and Todd disappears without a trace, Et The Lost Prince tells the story of Meghan's brother, Ethan。 13 years after Machina kidnapped him, Ethan doesn't want to have anything to do with the fey anymore。 They, on the other hand, make his life difficult because they play pranks on him all the time。 Once again, Ethan must attend a new school because of this。 There, he meets the half-blood Todd and Mackenzie, who is not discouraged by his unfriendly nature。 But when a new species of creepy fey appear and Todd disappears without a trace, Ethan must once again go to Nevernever to save him。The Iron Fey series is one of my favorites and yet I never managed to finish reading the Call of the Forgotten series, abandoning it midway through the second book a few years back。 With the release of a new trilogy, I decided to reread the Iron Fey series and also give the Call of the Forgotten trilogy another chance。But now, unfortunately, I remember why I originally abandoned the series。Ethan got on my nerves after about 50 to 100 pages with his I-push-everyone-away-and-act-like-a-giant-ass-to-protect-them-and-in-doing-so-I-hurt-myself-most attitude。 Yes, he's been through a lot and that has changed him, but I unfortunately just found his character incredibly exhausting to read。Also, the entire first third of the book is an introduction to the story and nothing really happens。 That was actually really well written, but I found it too long。 I understand that the author wanted to introduce the new trilogy properly, but in the end it's just a new trilogy in a world that already exists。 And for that the introduction was a bit too long。But even otherwise, the book doesn't have a good suspense arc。 After the way too long introduction the book does pick up speed and is also fun to read, however the finale is again very anticlimactic and almost boring。 There are no unexpected twists or revelations and not much happens。The basic story also had a few too many parallels to Iron King for me。 The characters and everything around them is completely different and that's where the author did a really good job of making everything different。 But basically, it's about someone being kidnapped, the protagonist setting out to find that person, and ultimately a new kind of fey being behind it who threaten the existence of all other fey, again。 Of course, this is a very easy way to introduce a new story, but for me, especially since this is the second time, too easy。 Seems like lazy writing to me。What the book also lacks, unlike the previous ones, is the feeling。 It's hard to describe, but the first four books always had a unique vibe that added something special to the story。 Here, however, the vibe is completely missing, which took away from the book。What always improved the other books was that they added some very interesting things to the Iron Fey world。Unfortunately, that is not the case here at all。The Forgotten appear more than in previous installments, but you learn nothing new about them。 Also, the Nevernever is not presented in a new and fresh way。I already said something about Ethan, but I didn't like the other new characters that much either。Keirran’s character was too flat for me, and I couldn't always entirely understand his actions。 You didn't get to know much about him in this book, but you already had an idea of him through his parents, which just didn't fit the Keirran from the book。Kenzie, I liked better and is in my opinion the best new character。 It's fun to watch this girl, who can't even see the fey, risking her life for them。 She has no knowledge about the fey and in the end, she is just a normal human being。 I also found her motives very understandable, so she was the best fleshed out character for me。We also saw the main old characters again and I really liked them。 They were incorporated in the story logically and their motives made sense。What I'm looking forward to the most in the next volume is finding out how Puck, Ash and Meghan dealt with the events of Iron's Prophecy。 It's been hinted at in this book at one point or another, but I think there's a lot more to come。 。。。more

I absolutely love the world of the Iron Fey。 Julie Kagawa does such an amazing job with world building。 I also loved getting to go back into the Nevernever, even if my favorite characters Ash and Meghan were not the focus of the series。 I do think since this was a reread for me that Ethan and Kenzie's relationship develops really fast, but they are teenagers so I'll let it go。 Absolutely loved the book even with the few typos that were in it。 I absolutely love the world of the Iron Fey。 Julie Kagawa does such an amazing job with world building。 I also loved getting to go back into the Nevernever, even if my favorite characters Ash and Meghan were not the focus of the series。 I do think since this was a reread for me that Ethan and Kenzie's relationship develops really fast, but they are teenagers so I'll let it go。 Absolutely loved the book even with the few typos that were in it。 。。。more

2。5。 Less terrible than other books in this series? Though I spent pretty much the entire book wanting to grab Kenzie by the shoulders and say: bro, respect yourself。 This guy has treated her like garbage, dismissed her, avoided her, and made it clear she is not a priority for him and she's still like: nah, I'm gonna keep following him around。 Um, ew? I couldn't really get past that for her character and Ethan was。。。 whiny, often。 But less whiny than Meghan was so。。。 improvement。 And I can't rea 2。5。 Less terrible than other books in this series? If so, how did they get out of Phaed?- it sucks that the forgotten basically leave the half-breeds as empty walking shells, when they take their glamour they leave nothing behind, including memories。 Poor Todd was like idk wtf you are bye。 - I love that Guro had swords made for Ethan, and didn’t question his story ab the Fae, and wanted to protect him at all costs。 Also, can you imagine watching your student on the run, and seeing his arm suddenly gush blood from 3 cuts? Talk ab horrifying。 - I wonder why Kieran feels so strongly ab the Lady and the forgotten, and why he considers himself an outsider。 It’ll be interesting to read ab, for sure。 - I love the random cameo of Puck, and even Ash and Meghan, in the story。 I know Ethan and Kieran are family and all, but I preferred the OG 3。 。。。more

quick and fun read, but if I hadn’t read the iron fey books before this, the world would seem kind of boring… not much happened plot-wise and I didn’t feel like the stakes were high enough。 meghan’s story was a lot more immersive and interesting, but I loved the cameos of the cat, ash and puck。 it’s just more or less a comforting read if you miss the old characters。 ethan and kenzie were pretty cute, and I loved kierran。

Ash and Megan only had a few lines, but I was so happy to see them! I very much enjoyed Ash threatening to freeze Keirran’s feet to the ground。 Puck came in a couple times, and his input into the situation was funny as always。 It was also so fun to see Keirran。 I wish we got to see some of his growing up。 Now we all know the prophetic madness between Ethan and Keirran, and given how sketchy Keirran was acting at the end, it made me nervous。 I understand what the Forgotten were doing and why, but it was still messed up and Keirran was a little too sympathetic to their cause。 It worries me。 Knowing the prophecy, I’m scared。 It’s clear that Keirran is heading in a direction that I’m not prepared for。 While I do like dark characters, I feel sad for Ash and Meghan。 Clearly, Meghan tried to keep the boys apart at all costs, but ultimately failed。 I’m hoping to get started on The Iron Traitor today! I remember the first time I read this spin-off series that I loved it more than the original series, so I'm interested to see if that still stands。 When we first met Ethan Chase he was a four year old boy who was afraid of the shadows in his closet。 After being kidnapped by the fey, his entire life changed。 He lost his sister and now is haunted daily by the fair folk。 They've caused so many problems for him from being expelled to injuring a friend。 Ethan just wants nothing to do with them。 But o I remember the first time I read this spin-off series that I loved it more than the original series, so I'm interested to see if that still stands。 When we first met Ethan Chase he was a four year old boy who was afraid of the shadows in his closet。 After being kidnapped by the fey, his entire life changed。 He lost his sister and now is haunted daily by the fair folk。 They've caused so many problems for him from being expelled to injuring a friend。 Ethan just wants nothing to do with them。 But of course that never happens。 When a friend of Ethan's goes missing, he begins to think something more is going on and now he must venture back into the world he only wants to forget to save not only his friend but a family member as well。 I adore who Ethan grew up to be。 He's very abrasive and tries to keep to himself, but underneath that tough exterior you can tell he's just a young boy who's scared to live his life。 And he misses his sister something fierce。 When he meets Kieran, the nephew he never knew he had, you can see the immediate bond between the two。 And speaking of Kieran, this kid is going to be the death of me。 He's very much act now and think later and you can just see the red flags everywhere。 It's not going to be an easy friendship between these two for sure。Aside from meeting Ethan again, I was glad we got to see the Iron Court and how its fared over the years。 All of the faves were back, including a new found love for that little gremlin Razor。 I don't remember a lot from this series just that it really packed a punch。 I'm so excited to dive into this trilogy because I remember it just gutting me。 Yay for book pain lol。 。。。more

This is a strong introduction to the new Iron Fey series。 Ethan is a well-rounded character like Meghan was in her stories, and he is just as vocal and dynamic。 Kenzie is a strong character as well, and she is very likable。 Her reporter skills and leukemia are an interesting and accepting part of her character; I think it's a good explanation for her acceptance of the Faery world。 Kierran, I admit, I am on the fence about him。 We were introduced to him in The Iron Knight, and here we had a bette This is a strong introduction to the new Iron Fey series。 Ethan is a well-rounded character like Meghan was in her stories, and he is just as vocal and dynamic。 Kenzie is a strong character as well, and she is very likable。 Her reporter skills and leukemia are an interesting and accepting part of her character; I think it's a good explanation for her acceptance of the Faery world。 Kierran, I admit, I am on the fence about him。 We were introduced to him in The Iron Knight, and here we had a better look at him, but I don't find myself liking him too much。 He didn't seem to have anything that drew me to him; I don't know why, though I feel he will choose the wrong side in the second book。 The plot of the story moved along nicely, and it kept me intrigued right until the very end。 The premise of the Forgotten faeries was an interesting angle and a believable one。 Faery tales began as oral tradition, so it's natural that the fantastical creatures would fade away once the stories stopped being told。 I wonder how Julie Kagawa will carry this race of faeries forward in the next two books。 I enjoyed meeting Meghan, Ash, Puck, Glitch, Razor, and Grim again。 Just like old times。 I look forward to reading the sequel。 。。。more
