Summary

Become enchanted by the fantasy world of gods and mortals in bestselling author Scarlett St。 Clair's reimagined New Greece。 Readers are "hopelessly addicted" to the story of Hades and Persephone told from Hades's point of view。

Hades, God of the Dead, does not take sides or bend the rules。 He makes no exceptions to these values-not for god or mortal, even his lover, Persephone, Goddess of Spring。

Usually, fear prevents retaliation。

But not this time。

When Hera, Goddess of Women, approaches Hades with a plan to overthrow Zeus, he declines to offer help。 As punishment, Hera sentences Hades to perform a series of labors。 Each feat seems more impossible than the last and draws his attention away from Persephone-whose own tragedy has left her questioning whether she can be Queen of the Underworld。

Can Hades maintain the balance he craves?

Thank you netgalley for a chance to read this! I always love hades POV! I understood Persephone more this book but she was still a little annoying。

Scarlett St。 Clair's newest installation of the Hades Saga is a thoughtful, compelling look into Hades point of view of her Hades and Persephone series。 From Persephone's series, we see the world through her eyes and experience it anew with her。 We learn with her。 In the Hades Saga, we're entrenched in the world with Hades as he goes about his duties and responsibilities。 I really enjoy his POV because we see so many Easter eggs of common myths and characters from the Persephone series, but we a Scarlett St。 Clair's newest installation of the Hades Saga is a thoughtful, compelling look into Hades point of view of her Hades and Persephone series。 From Persephone's series, we see the world through her eyes and experience it anew with her。 We learn with her。 In the Hades Saga, we're entrenched in the world with Hades as he goes about his duties and responsibilities。 I really enjoy his POV because we see so many Easter eggs of common myths and characters from the Persephone series, but we actually get to meet them or learn more about them in Hades' version。 I loved meeting some new faces in this one and seeing even more of New Athens and Olympia。 And! I love this authors modern take on the myths surrounding Hades and Persephone。 This book is from Hades point of view as he struggles to convince the woman he adores that she holds his heart for eternity。 Her mother Demeter is completely against their relationship but she's not the only meddling female because Hades quickly falls foul of Hera leaving him in a right pickle ! Sadly there is more in play here than Hades realises as actions have repercussions and quite clearly the Olympians have a rude awakening coming their way。 I did enjoy getting Hades thoughts as events transpired but honestly I frequently wanted to shake him。 He is so focused on protecting Persephone that he is downright sneaky and never confides in her。 Yes I get it as he's lived for millennia, in charge of the underworld and has had to stand alone but tragically this leaves him completely blinkered。 Persephone has to contend with the aftermath of their relationship becoming public whilst Hades pretty much does his own thing and trust me he blunders along making decisions that left this reader shaking her head。 When together they are either totally incendiary or its completely opposite and things go nuclear。 I actually have sympathy for both characters because what they feel is new, raw and all consuming。 Plus there's so much happening around them with political machinations both obvious and often not so self evident。 This ends leaving the strong possibility of even more problems ahead for the couple and perhaps even war on the horizon ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair 。。。more

There's always something deliciously entertaining about reading from Hades POV。 In ATOM, we take the journey from Persephone's POV but there is so much more going on behind the scenes with Hades。I love the way Hades moves in the shadows and that he's going through his own hardships throughout A Touch of Retribution。 Persephone is such a strong character, but it's so easy to see that Hades helps her become that way。 I love being able to experience both POV, and thank you to Scarlett for letting h There's always something deliciously entertaining about reading from Hades POV。 In ATOM, we take the journey from Persephone's POV but there is so much more going on behind the scenes with Hades。I love the way Hades moves in the shadows and that he's going through his own hardships throughout A Touch of Retribution。 Persephone is such a strong character, but it's so easy to see that Hades helps her become that way。 I love being able to experience both POV, and thank you to Scarlett for letting her readers see both sides of the story。 There is so much going on behind the scenes of A Touch of Malice, which makes the story so enjoyable。Did I mention the spice from Hades' POV is just。。。。 It hits different。I highly recommend for all fans of Scarlett to NEVER skip the Hades side of the story。 It's so beautiful and helps understand each character's decisions and thought process。 。。。more

Scarlett St Clair writes such compelling and thoughtful books。 Her worlds are so complete and feel so real that it's easy to completely immerse yourself in them。 I was fortunate enough to have asked before I read this series and am reading in the alternating order with the Touch books。 Retribution is Hades perspective and version of A Touch of Ruin。 I am the first to skip or shy away from a "his perspective" series, but these add so much depth to the story and are truly another story line and pl Scarlett St Clair writes such compelling and thoughtful books。 Her worlds are so complete and feel so real that it's easy to completely immerse yourself in them。 I was fortunate enough to have asked before I read this series and am reading in the alternating order with the Touch books。 Retribution is Hades perspective and version of A Touch of Ruin。 I am the first to skip or shy away from a "his perspective" series, but these add so much depth to the story and are truly another story line and plot。 Ruin is a story of grief and Hades side of things reflects his experience of that same grief, but also the many moving parts to what happens in the space between the stories。 Without spoiling anything, its fast paced, but took me a long time to read。 I didn't want to miss anything and needed to fully absorb all of the feelings in the book。 It's complex and filled with twists and turns and is setting up this story line for so much more in the upcoming books。 I can't wait to see where this goes。 。。。more

I was given an ARC of this book by Scarlett and I’m so exited to be able to talk about it。 Scarlett is an amazing writer and this was just another testament to this。 AGOR is great。 It’s a hard read much like ATOR because of the heavy content in it。 I was emotional in the best ways。 Reading the Hades saga is really eye opening because I’d never realized all the things that were happening behind the scenes while Sephy was doing her things。 If you’ve read the Sephy books, you MUST read the hades bo I was given an ARC of this book by Scarlett and I’m so exited to be able to talk about it。 Scarlett is an amazing writer and this was just another testament to this。 AGOR is great。 It’s a hard read much like ATOR because of the heavy content in it。 I was emotional in the best ways。 Reading the Hades saga is really eye opening because I’d never realized all the things that were happening behind the scenes while Sephy was doing her things。 If you’ve read the Sephy books, you MUST read the hades books as well。 Although they’re happening in tandem, the stories are different as their characters are doing different things to build up to the big conclusion。 I cannot wait to see what happens at the end of this series。 It’s gonna be soo good。 I’m finally seeing all these pieces got together。 READ IT! 。。。more

This was such a great read! I love how Scarlett’s setting the scene for everything going on in the Hades x Persephone saga。 AGOR was full of so many important scenes and I really appreciate reading Hades POV during the events of ATOR。 While reading ATOR I couldn’t understand why sometimes Hades wasn’t around for Persephone when she needed him, but this book definitely explained and packed a punch as well。 Hades is really learning on what it means to be in a relationship, especially with Persepho This was such a great read! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Thanks Edelweiss for giving me this ARC for an honest review。I have a lot of thoughts on this book (and Hades's perspective as a whole)。 I'll start off with what I did like。When reading A Touch of Ruin, I dislike Persephone a lot。 I thought her to be whiny and just overall unfair。 However, seeing this from Hades's perspective, I come to understand her a bit more in these two books。 Some parts where I found her to be unreasonable in Ruin, I found a much more solid reasoning for in this book。I als Thanks Edelweiss for giving me this ARC for an honest review。I have a lot of thoughts on this book (and Hades's perspective as a whole)。 I'll start off with what I did like。When reading A Touch of Ruin, I dislike Persephone a lot。 I thought her to be whiny and just overall unfair。 However, seeing this from Hades's perspective, I come to understand her a bit more in these two books。 Some parts where I found her to be unreasonable in Ruin, I found a much more solid reasoning for in this book。I also like seeing more of Hades relationship with Hermes in this book。 I adore their dumb banters and interactions。 Best friends? Absolutely。 This also applies to seeing other gods/goddesses。Now onto what I didn't like。 This book felt like scenes were copied and pasted together and called a book。 Scenes felt unfinished as they essentially cut to black and switched to the next scenario。 It didn't flow well together。 Scenes that felt important to Hades and Persephone as a couple in the other books felt rushed and not nearly as important to this (example: basically everything with Lexa)。 It felt jarring to read and I did not enjoy that。Also any characters outside of Hades (and Hermes oddly) felt like they were flat。 Persephone and Hecate were mostly just mad the entire time。 Other characters had no personality at all。 Zofie was so eccentric and full of life in Ruin yet she had no reactions or personality in this。 I thought having Hades perspective would be fun and interesting but overall it was sort of bland and I'd rather read just Persephone's pov moving forward。 。。。more

This side of the series and this book in particular are the epitome of “there are two sides to every story。” As we revisit situations we’ll remember from ATOR, specifically Hades absence and his and Persephone’s lack of communication, we finally get Hades perspective。 You will be along for quite the ride。 I found myself constantly going “oh”… in response to my previous question of… where were you Hades? Scarlett’s Hades x Persephone saga is two sides of a timeless love story of the gods that come together in one epic Romantasy adventure。 With that said the Persephone side for me (especially in the earlier books) is heavy on the romance side of that story, because that’s how the story was experienced by the goddess。 The Hades saga however, while still full of the delicious romance we’ve come to expect from Scarlett St Clair’s books, is packed full of action, plots, danger…everything you could ever hope for from a fantasy book。 Then seeing the two stories truly come together and become one is just…it gives me chills!I will not leave spoilers here。 However just know that this is one of the most enjoyable reads so far from St Clair and I am absolutely over the MOON excited to see how their story moves forward。 I have an entire note packed full of my favorite quotes from this book but I’ll leave you with one more! exchange of an honest reviewTrigger warning: This book contains scenes that reference suicide and sexual violence。Welcome to the underworld, where Hades, the god of death, the lord who rules a place for souls and the King of Corpses waits for you to come to your forever house。 This is his side of the story of the events of A touch of ruin, and after the events of A touch of Darkness and A Game of Fate, he is ready to fight for the love of his long and immortal life, Persephone, the goddess of spring, daughter of Demeter and who lives in New Athens trying to live a mortal life with her friends。 After they finally confessed their love, Hera is ready to bless their union… with a little condition, Hades must fight and accomplish twelve tasks to gain the goddess of marriage favor。 So, he is ready to do whatever she wants to overthrow Zeus, and finally approves their marriage。 In the meantime, an ancient relic is lost, a group of rebels called the Impious are ready to gain some power and lots of secrets are kept in the shadows。 This is the main plot of this story and gods。 I loved it, the angst, the intrigue, the mafia vibes, this way of refreshing ancient myths in this modern world is amazing。 As with Persephone’s POV, this world is amazing, full of tiny easter eggs of other myths that eventually had sense for the plot。 This book has a clever plot, a lot of character development and such a good story。 With these books I prefer Hades POV because are darker than Persephone’s, but her story is amazing too and read what was happening with Hades during A touch of Ruin when he was off the pages was really interesting, here we know why he is acting the way he did and understood a lot of things。 So, let’s talk about characters, first Hades, he is a cinnamon roll, ready to tear the world into pieces for his lover, but a cinnamon roll deep inside。 He is selfless, a dark lord with the power to control the worst groups of New Athens society, he wants the best for his souls, and for the people of the living realm, and also is desperately in love with Persephone。 She, on the other hand, is as sweet as we know from her books, but Hades saw her as the powerful goddess she is becoming, the incredible, selfless woman she is and his future queen。 I loved Hermes too, and the friendship between him and Hades was everything, I love their interactions, he is the funniest character of them all and I love every line he said in this book。 Also, I love the relationship between Hades and Hecate, she is a wise goddess who wants the best for Hades and Persephone and is one of the captains of this ship。 But just one thing I didn’t like about this book, or Hades and Persephone’s relation in general, the tons of misunderstandings that could have been avoided in this book if the two of them had more communication between them, because this is unhealthy too。So, finally I loved this book, and I gave it 4。5/5 because this world, this story and these characters are amazing。 The ending was so cute and settled the basis of the war to come between gods, monsters, demigods, and mortals。 And I’m ready for that。 “Quieres una reina”, dijo。 “Así que enséñale cómo vivir dentro de tu reino。 Enséñale a usar su magia。 Enséñale a ser una diosa, y deja de intentar pelear todas sus batallas”。Gracias a la editorial y a la autora por esta copia avanzada, a cambio de una reseña honesta。Advertencias: este libro contiene escenas que hacen referencia al suicidio y la violencia sexual。Bienvenidos al inframundo, donde Hades, el dios de la muerte, el señor que gobierna un lugar para las almas y el Rey de los Cadáveres te espera para llegar a tu casa eterna。 Esta es su versión de la historia de los eventos de A touch of Ruin, y tras los acontecimientos de A touch of darkness y A game of Fate, está dispuesto a luchar por el amor de su larga e inmortal vida, Perséfone, la diosa de la primavera, hija de Deméter y que vive en Nueva Atenas tratando de vivir una vida mortal con sus amigos。Después de que finalmente confesaron su amor, Hera está lista para bendecir su unión。。。 Con una pequeña condición, Hades tiene que luchar y cumplir doce tareas para ganar el favor de la diosa del matrimonio。 Entonces, él está listo para hacer lo que ella quiera, para derrocar a Zeus y finalmente aprobar su matrimonio。Mientras tanto, una antigua reliquia está perdida, un grupo de rebeldes llamado Impious está listo para ganar algo de poder y muchos secretos se mantienen en las sombras。 Esta es la trama principal de esta historia y dioses, me encantó, la angustia, la intriga, las vibras de la mafia, esta forma de refrescar los mitos antiguos en este mundo moderno es increíble。 Al igual que con el punto de vista de Perséfone, este mundo es asombroso, lleno de diminutos easter eggs de otros mitos que eventualmente tienen sentido para la trama。 Este libro tiene una trama inteligente, mucho desarrollo de personajes y una historia muy buena。 Con estos libros, prefiero el punto de vista de Hades porque son más oscuros que el de Perséfone, pero su historia también es increíble y leer lo que estaba pasando con Hades durante A touch of Ruin cuando estaba fuera de las páginas fue realmente interesante, aquí sabemos por qué está actuando de la manera que lo hizo y entendendemos muchas cosas。Así que, hablemos de personajes, primero que nada Hades, él es un rollo de canela, listo para romper el mundo en pedazos por su amor, pero un rollo de canela en el fondo。 Es desinteresado, un señor oscuro con el poder de controlar a los peores grupos de la sociedad de Nueva Atenas, quiere lo mejor para sus almas y para la gente del reino de los vivos, y también está desesperadamente enamorado de Perséfone。 Ella, por otro lado, es tan dulce como sabemos por sus libros, pero Hades la ve como la diosa poderosa en la que se está convirtiendo, la mujer increíble y desinteresada que es y su futura reina。También amé a Hermes, y la amistad entre él y Hades lo fue todo, amo sus interacciones, es el personaje más divertido de todos y amo cada línea que dijo en este libro。 También me encanta la relación entre Hades y Hecate, ella es una diosa sabia que quiere lo mejor para Hades y Perséfone y es una de las capitanas de este ship。Pero solo una cosa que no me gustó de este libro, o la relación de Hades y Perséfone en general, los muchos malentendidos que podrían haberse evitado en este libro si los dos tuvieran más comunicación entre ellos, porque esto también es poco saludable。Finalmente me encantó este libro y le di 4。5/5 porque este mundo, esta historia y estos personajes son asombrosos。 El final fue tan tierno, y sentó las bases de la guerra que se avecinaba entre dioses, monstruos, semidioses y mortales。 Y estoy lista para ello。 。。。more

I love Scarlett St。 Clair and her Hades x Persephone books。 A Game of Retribution is essentially A Touch of Ruin but from Hade's point of view。 While I loved A Touch of Darkness (it was a 5 star book for me) A Touch of Ruin was only ok from my perspective (it was a 3 star book)。 But both A Game of Fate and A Game of Retribution were 4 star books for me。 I identify with Hades so much more than I do with Persephone and so reading the story (which I love) from his point of view has been fantastic。 I love Scarlett St。 Clair and her Hades x Persephone books。 A Game of Retribution is essentially A Touch of Ruin but from Hade's point of view。 While I loved A Touch of Darkness (it was a 5 star book for me) A Touch of Ruin was only ok from my perspective (it was a 3 star book)。 But both A Game of Fate and A Game of Retribution were 4 star books for me。 I identify with Hades so much more than I do with Persephone and so reading the story (which I love) from his point of view has been fantastic。 I do not normally connect with male protagonists but I see so much of my own personality in Hades that I can't help but relate to him。 His need to protect his and Persephone's relationship, though flawed in execution, is so pure and I really feel for what he goes through。 I can not wait for the rest of the series。 。。。more

“I would’ve chosen you a thousand times over, the Fates be damned。”A Touch of Ruin from Hades POV & it was just what I needed。 I missed Hades and loved experiencing a story I already loved so much through his lense, but with so much more。 Scarlett pulls the curtain back and gives us insight to the inner workings of the broody enigma we love so dearly。 I can’t get enough of Hades & Persephone and this one brings the HEAT and HEART。Reading time: devoured in just under 4 hours! 🔥

Daddy Death。。。oh how I have missed you! If you have read A Touch of Ruin you know how emotional that book was, tell me why this one devastated more almost! Hades POV is always so action packed! Our poor God of the Dead was just wanting time with Persephone and EVERYTHING was getting in the way of that! Did I sometimes want to shake them and make them sit in a room until they communicated? YES! But as we know Sephy is a young goddess who was sheltered and kept away from everything and Hades is an Daddy Death。。。oh how I have missed you! YES! But as we know Sephy is a young goddess who was sheltered and kept away from everything and Hades is an old god not used to discussing anything he does with anyone so the learning curve for them is steep!! All that being said to say this。。。I LOVED this book, I read it in a few hours because I could not put it down! I needed to know all this behind the scenes action that was going on, I needed more of Hermes and Hecate! Also we got more of some other gods and goddesses and that was very interesting。。。。and a little scary! I can't wait to see where Scarlett takes this series with the next few books, as always she is a writing goddess and I would read her grocery list lol go preorder or buy this book depending when you are reading this review! It's so worth it!! 。。。more
