I love this book about a little girl who goes to visit her grandparents on the island。 While she’s there， she learns about how plastic is affecting the beaches and ocean and gets all the beach goers together to help clean up。 It’s so sweet， has great representation in the illustrations， and gives concrete examples of how to take care of the earth。 Great read-aloud！

Readers who first met Rocket in the picture book， Rocket Says Look Up！ will be delighted in see her return。 In this book， Rocket， her mother， and her older brother Jamal， appropriately depicted as being glued to his cell phone， are off to the Caribbean Islands to visit her grandparents who run an animal sanctuary there。 Rocket is eager to enjoy the island's scenic delights， but she is disappointed when she finds a small turtle wrapped in plastic and notices just how polluted the beach has become Readers who first met Rocket in the picture book， Rocket Says Look Up！ will be delighted in see her return。 In this book， Rocket， her mother， and her older brother Jamal， appropriately depicted as being glued to his cell phone， are off to the Caribbean Islands to visit her grandparents who run an animal sanctuary there。 Rocket is eager to enjoy the island's scenic delights， but she is disappointed when she finds a small turtle wrapped in plastic and notices just how polluted the beach has become。 Never one to just stay silent， this young activist goes to each of the individuals on the beach and informs them about the dangers of plastic for marine life。 The statistics she quotes must be troubling since she successfully recruits enough folks to clear the beach of all that unsightly trash。 And as if that weren't enough， one girl volunteers the services of her mother to repurpose the trash， fashioning bins for trash from the stuff the group collected。 Rocket can feel a sense of accomplishment from what she and new friends have done and eagerly anticipate the return of species that have left the area because of all that debris。 Back matter includes tips for future environmentalists and resources to learn more about the perils of plastic。 The bright colors in the illustrations and Rocket's own earnestness may prompt some young readers to follow in her footsteps in important endeavors like this one。 。。。more
