Love the message, good way to introduce important topics to youngsters。

I love this book about a little girl who goes to visit her grandparents on the island。 While she’s there, she learns about how plastic is affecting the beaches and ocean and gets all the beach goers together to help clean up。 It’s so sweet, has great representation in the illustrations, and gives concrete examples of how to take care of the earth。 Great read-aloud!

Nongendered kid of color loves their grandparents and cares about wildlife。 Community comes together to clean up the beach AND recycle the trash they find。 Not too sad or hard-hitting but gets the point across。 Thumbs up。

I can readily see this character as a television program for the littles。

I love this book!! Rocket goes to visit her grandparents and finds a sea creature tangled in plastic。 Plastic is taking over the ocean and beaches and is harming marine life。 Rocket finds ways to help clean up。 There are little bits of "Did you know。。" information in bubbles and the back of the book also includes resources on how you can help clean up too。 I love this book!! This story features a young Black girl and her family, but shows some diversity in size too。 Fat people in picture books are usually grandmothers or the object of ridicule or criticism。 It's nice to see them just be。 This story features a young Black girl and her family, but shows some diversity in size too。 Fat people in picture books are usually grandmothers or the object of ridicule or criticism。 It's nice to see them just be。 。。。more

Great book for instilling environmental protection in children。 It also shows that one person can make a difference。 As an adult I liked the information at the end so I know what more I can do to protect wildlife and the environment。

At least this one is upfront about its moralizing, unlike Rocket Says Look Up (and the moral itself is one I can get more behind)。

I LOVE Rocket's stories! Grandparents are rad, she's as thoughtful as ever, and the solution the Clean Up Crew came up with to upcycle the trash they cleaned up to serve as a poignant reminder to mind your littering was killer! Also, my niece and I did an absolutely adorable 4 minute YouTube book review which you can view below! It's literary the sweetest! Rocket and her family visit her grandparents。 To her dismay, the island needs some TLC as there is trash everywhere and the animals and earth are seriously affected。 Rocket works with others to clean up the beach and save the wildlife。 The colorful illustrations bring this story to life。

Rocket's trip to the beach doesn't go the way she planned - there's a ton of plastic all over the place and a baby sea turtle gets all tangled up in it。 But this won't stand while Rocket's around! My childhood bedtime story time with my mum truly birthed my love of reading。 I don’t remember seeing many representations of myself in children’s books at the time though, which is probably why Amazing Grace sticks out in my head (swipe to last slide)。 For this reason, I search far and wide for books featuring Black and brown characters as gifts for my nieces, nephews and godchildren。For Christmas, my niece received a copy of Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon。 Rocket is on holiday from the UK visiting My childhood bedtime story time with my mum truly birthed my love of reading。 I don’t remember seeing many representations of myself in children’s books at the time though, which is probably why Amazing Grace sticks out in my head (swipe to last slide)。 For this reason, I search far and wide for books featuring Black and brown characters as gifts for my nieces, nephews and godchildren。For Christmas, my niece received a copy of Clean Up! by Nathan Bryon。 Rocket is on holiday from the UK visiting her grandparents in Jamaica。 It raises environmental issues in an accessible way, teaching us all something about the plastics crisis faced by the pristine beaches of many Caribbean islands。 。。。more

Picture book。 Lots of diversity in people shown。 Main character appears brown with braids/curls/puffs。 Diverse child, loving family, GREAT message about cleaning up the earth for wildlife。 Text is bold, large, and easy to read。 Lots of white space。 Good for storytime or class readaloud (preschool-1st grade)。 Themes this will be useful for: Earth Day, nature, not to litter, about vacations, or even family。

Readers who first met Rocket in the picture book, Rocket Says Look Up! will be delighted in see her return。 In this book, Rocket, her mother, and her older brother Jamal, appropriately depicted as being glued to his cell phone, are off to the Caribbean Islands to visit her grandparents who run an animal sanctuary there。 Rocket is eager to enjoy the island's scenic delights, but she is disappointed when she finds a small turtle wrapped in plastic and notices just how polluted the beach has become Readers who first met Rocket in the picture book, Rocket Says Look Up! will be delighted in see her return。 In this book, Rocket, her mother, and her older brother Jamal, appropriately depicted as being glued to his cell phone, are off to the Caribbean Islands to visit her grandparents who run an animal sanctuary there。 Rocket is eager to enjoy the island's scenic delights, but she is disappointed when she finds a small turtle wrapped in plastic and notices just how polluted the beach has become。 Never one to just stay silent, this young activist goes to each of the individuals on the beach and informs them about the dangers of plastic for marine life。 The statistics she quotes must be troubling since she successfully recruits enough folks to clear the beach of all that unsightly trash。 And as if that weren't enough, one girl volunteers the services of her mother to repurpose the trash, fashioning bins for trash from the stuff the group collected。 Rocket can feel a sense of accomplishment from what she and new friends have done and eagerly anticipate the return of species that have left the area because of all that debris。 Back matter includes tips for future environmentalists and resources to learn more about the perils of plastic。 The bright colors in the illustrations and Rocket's own earnestness may prompt some young readers to follow in her footsteps in important endeavors like this one。 。。。more
