Very interesting， definitely a book for everyone。

I had started Sapiens a few years ago as an audiobook and while I enjoyed it， I had to return it to the library after listening to only a short bit， and it never fully made its way back into my rotation。 When I saw a graphic novel version had been written - and nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award - I ordered it from the library; 4 months later it came in and I was enchanted by it。 It strikes a wonderful chord between being accessible but also not dumbing down the information。 It's separated i I had started Sapiens a few years ago as an audiobook and while I enjoyed it， I had to return it to the library after listening to only a short bit， and it never fully made its way back into my rotation。 When I saw a graphic novel version had been written - and nominated for a Goodreads Choice Award - I ordered it from the library; 4 months later it came in and I was enchanted by it。 It strikes a wonderful chord between being accessible but also not dumbing down the information。 It's separated into 4 sections， and my favorite was the discussion of fictions - the idea that Sapiens are able to tell stories about ourselves， the world， and each other， and this cognitive revolution was the biggest coup in our evolution。 I would highly recommend this book， even to younger readers （I think even a capable junior high reader would be able to enjoy it）。 It's also moving Sapiens up my TBR。 。。。more

Livro #20 de 2021:Eu já estava com este livro debaixo do olho desde que um cidadão que atendi no meu trabalho e que trazia um outro livro deste autor， quando lhe disse que adorava ler e estava curiosa por ler aquele livro que o senhor trazia， e ele disse-me enfaticamente que deveria primeiro ler o Sapiens， algum tempo depois， mais concretamente no ano passado， a Filipa do #filipabo0ks estava a ler e a gostar bastante， e quando soube que eu também o tinha no meu radar， também me aconselhou a ler。 Livro #20 de 2021:Eu já estava com este livro debaixo do olho desde que um cidadão que atendi no meu trabalho e que trazia um outro livro deste autor， quando lhe disse que adorava ler e estava curiosa por ler aquele livro que o senhor trazia， e ele disse-me enfaticamente que deveria primeiro ler o Sapiens， algum tempo depois， mais concretamente no ano passado， a Filipa do #filipabo0ks estava a ler e a gostar bastante， e quando soube que eu também o tinha no meu radar， também me aconselhou a ler。 O que nunca poderia ter adivinhado era que antes de ler o ebook com as suas acho eu 700 páginas， era que o meu colega dos correios me convencesse a comprar a novela Gráfica e eu acabasse por ler primeiro a Novela Grafica e só mais tarde， algures num futuro próximo quiça， ler o livro original ， e curioso o contrário está a acontecer com a Historia de uma Serva， cujo livro li há vários anos （tb tenho em ebook para reler） mas cuja Novela gráfica ainda não li embora esteja muito curiosa。 Voltando ao Livro Sapiens， eu gostei muito do livro e embora eu temesse que lendo a novela gráfica já não teria tanta vontade de ler o livro mas enganei-me， a novela gráfica está tão bem feita， é divertida e muito acessível na explicação dos factos científicos （nas vertentes histórica， biológica， química e física） e é uma leitura leve em conteúdo， ou seja， é fluída e rápida， e teria lido lido todo o livro num dia não tivesse adormecido ontem duas horas à tarde （#maganet you are robbing off on me）， mas pesada na fisicalidade de um livro de capa dura com 248 páginas do tamanho de folhas A4， ui ui ui。 As minhas mãos， costas e braços ainda hoje me chateiam a cabeça pelo esforço que lhes impus ontem。。。 Hoje não tiveram razões de queixa porque só tinha 50 páginas desse livro para ler hoje， e isso para mim não é nada。 Eu não quero dizer que partes do livro foram as minhas favoritas porque iria concerteza dar spoiler， mas fartei-me de rir， e recomendo vivamente este livro a quem gosta de se educar （cultura geral mas essencial para a nossa própria identidade individual） de uma forma divertida e original， sem nem intelectualismos baratos nem estupidificadez clara - eu não sei explicar exactamente o que quero dizer com isto， mas quem o ler se calhar vai perceber aonde eu quero chegar。 Ainda assim tentarei explicar isto de outra maneira， a ver se consigo: quando uma pessoa domina uma determinada matéria poderá ter a tendência de explicar as coisas ou de uma maneira demasiado técnica que só quem domina essa gíria e essa elite compreende， ou então， explicar as coisas como se quem recebesse a informação fosse um ser burro， acéfelo， em idade pré-escolar。。。， e nem uma coisa nem a outra ocorrem neste livro。 Espero ter me feito entender。 。。。more

I was really curious to see how the many intricacies of the book Sapiens could be rendered into a graphic book。 It's big， beautiful and crammed with information。 Alas， I dont really like the particular cartoon style of the artist， but heck， it gets the themes portrayed。 The graphic version of Sapiens does not follow the Sapiens book much but has its own characters that guide the reader through Yuval's major ideas。 Some of it was too contrived for my taste （especially the investigator trying to p I was really curious to see how the many intricacies of the book Sapiens could be rendered into a graphic book。 It's big， beautiful and crammed with information。 Alas， I dont really like the particular cartoon style of the artist， but heck， it gets the themes portrayed。 The graphic version of Sapiens does not follow the Sapiens book much but has its own characters that guide the reader through Yuval's major ideas。 Some of it was too contrived for my taste （especially the investigator trying to prove the damage Sapiens have done） but heck， again， its all for the good。 I know of no other graphic novel that tries to deal with human evolution。 This one is a great beginning of hopefully a bigger spread of knowledge。 Vol。 2 is coming。 。。。more

Despite the graphic novel medium， this did not dumb down the content at all。 If anything， it enhanced it， examining the same topics from the original Sapiens from different angles to understand them in a new way。
