Summary

This was so different from any other book I’ve read。 The writing and the audiobook narrator were phenomenal。 I will be buying a physical copy and rereading to highlight。 So much I wanted to highlight while listening。

Markell

I adored this。 The way he captured the curiosity, vulnerability and quirks of children was phenomenal。 And the story of Linus finding love and a family of his own just made my heart burst。

I highly recommend listening to the audiobook while following along!!! This was amazing and the narrator was fabulous!!!

Everyone needs a little magic in their lives。 This novel provides it in spades。 It’s not my usual genre, but I’m glad I listened to the reviews and picked it up。I won’t bore you with the facts—they are easily discernible from the blurb for the book and other reviewers。 What the blurb doesn’t say is this novel is part parable, part philosophy of life。 The magical beings are a metaphor for all the people in the world who are different, who are unusual, who experience prejudice because of how they Everyone needs a little magic in their lives。 This novel provides it in spades。 It’s not my usual genre, but I’m glad I listened to the reviews and picked it up。I won’t bore you with the facts—they are easily discernible from the blurb for the book and other reviewers。 What the blurb doesn’t say is this novel is part parable, part philosophy of life。 The magical beings are a metaphor for all the people in the world who are different, who are unusual, who experience prejudice because of how they look or their sexual orientation。 It’s also a book about bursting out your bubble in life and living in color。 It’s about how a seemingly meek, rather dumpy-looking person can rise up and begin to change the inequalities in the world around him。 It’s about accepting who you are in life and reveling in it。The blurb also doesn’t tell you that this is a beautiful love story。The story was well-written。 I have to say, I totally predicted the ending about halfway through, but that’s okay。 It was a fun read filled with joy, a must in these stress-filled times。I’m so glad I stuck with this story。 It was worth the read。 。。。more

I had a hard time getting into it but once I did, it is one of the best books I’ve read。 I actually listened to it on audible。

A beautiful book about accepting people for who they are and who they strive and long to be。

Ok, I really disliked the audiobook narrator, and that may have colored my perception of the entire book。 Super interesting story, incredibly heartwarming and i definitely teared up at times and loved the characters! I could not, however, get over how characters often spouted off snippets of sage wisdom and life advice。 People don’t talk like that。 Made it more like a lifetime movie for me, when it could have been something so much more。 You don’t have to spell out the lessons you’re trying to t Ok, I really disliked the audiobook narrator, and that may have colored my perception of the entire book。 Super interesting story, incredibly heartwarming and i definitely teared up at times and loved the characters! To be honest I didn’t expect to like this book aa much as I did。 The characters are so well written that you fall in love in each of them。 Such a good book to relax and just enjoy the story。

Andrea Taylor

What a wonderful book about accepting people for their differences and standing up to prejudice! The narrator was *chefs kiss*, he really gave the story even more character than it already had!

slight harry potter vibes, will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside — what more could you ask for in a book, really?

Anna

Absolutely loved this book, was so emotional at the end。 Such a whimsical read, a Harry Potter meets Last of the Really Great Whangdoodles。 Linus is a character you root for the entire time。 And those KIDS ❤️ would highly recommend this story。

Margaret Butler

This was a great read-aloud book for us。 We got to be snarky about the parts that were way overdone, while moved by the story of the children and the bureaucrat who cared about them, as well as the love story。

CiCi

I loved this book so much! I would read this book over and over again。 The author did such a great job with developing characters that you can’t help but care about。 If we could see their storylines continue with a book sequel I would definitely pick it up in a heartbeat。 💛

It started off strong。 Amazing world building and setting up the characters。 Builds curiosity and empathy towards everyone。And then it just plateaus 30% in。 It's nice but not brilliant。 It started off strong。 Amazing world building and setting up the characters。 Builds curiosity and empathy towards everyone。And then it just plateaus 30% in。 It's nice but not brilliant。 。。。more

Arthur who had a difficult childhood, he is a phoenix, he has a different perspective of things, I love him for that。 ALSOOO, mention to Zoe and Helen, i would have loved reading more about them together tbh<3 I recommend this book if you are looking for something fun, different and magical to read <3 。。。more

“we can find the most unexpected things when we aren’t even looking for them。”Exactly。 I LOVED this book! The story made me smile and laugh。 TJ Klune masterfully highlighted prejudices he solidified hope, beginning in the voice of the few。 Such a great read! Everyone should read it。 If you do not typically read science fiction or fantasy, I would find it hard to believe you don’t enjoy it。 Awesome。

Have you ever read a book and thought that you would very much like to live within it? Yes, this book was that for me… I laughed and cried while reading it and did not want it to end。 So much so, that I ended up reading the ending 4-5 times。 This book was wonderful, amazing, and very… well, warm… Definitely give it a read and you will see what I mean!!

Had a lot of fun with this book! The whimsy, heartfelt tone meshing with the anachronisms I associate most strongly with A Series of Unfortunate Events made for a very fun read that reminded me of books I loved as a child。 Bits and pieces felt a little cartoonish, but that's more of a perk than a problem once you let yourself have fun loving this book。 Not perfectly my speed, but I finished it in record time, so I can't pretend it didn't draw me in。 Had a lot of fun with this book! Although this isn’t the type of book I typically read, it was very enjoyable and would recommend it as a light hearted, beach book。 It’s fun and whimsical, fairly predictable, but in a “I know I’m going to walk away feeling good after reading this” kind of way。 I felt like this book was written very much the way a movie would play out in terms of story pacing, character building, climax peaking, and interactions between the characters and the story。 In terms of story and overall plot, I don’t be Although this isn’t the type of book I typically read, it was very enjoyable and would recommend it as a light hearted, beach book。 It’s fun and whimsical, fairly predictable, but in a “I know I’m going to walk away feeling good after reading this” kind of way。 I felt like this book was written very much the way a movie would play out in terms of story pacing, character building, climax peaking, and interactions between the characters and the story。 In terms of story and overall plot, I don’t believe this book really brought anything new to the table。 I think what makes this book so enjoyable is how the characters are written。 I’ll admit that some of the more exaggerated characters were a little annoying in the beginning but feel like they were written to be just that。 It seems very intentional how the character development was written to have readers start warming up and empathizing at certain points in the story。I think the last quarter of this book was my favorite。 The ending, while predictable and cheesy and cliché, was well written and left me walking away satisfied。As of 2022-05-06, I’m currently rating this as a very strong 3。9 because I really enjoyed the book but I’m not sure it’s something I’d immediately reach for to read again。 It’s definitely a predictable, feel good story (not a bad thing)。 I might come back and update later 。。。more
