Summary

A TV meteorologist and a sports reporter scheme to reunite their divorced bosses with unforecasted results in this charming romantic comedy from the author of The Ex Talk

Ari Abrams has always been fascinated by the weather, and she loves almost everything about her job as a TV meteorologist。 Her boss, legendary Seattle weatherwoman Torrance Hale, is too distracted by her tempestuous relationship with her ex-husband, the station’s news director, to give Ari the mentorship she wants。 Ari, who runs on sunshine and optimism, is at her wits’ end。 The only person who seems to understand how she feels is sweet but reserved sports reporter Russell Barringer。

In the aftermath of a disastrous holiday party, Ari and Russell decide to team up to solve their bosses’ relationship issues。 Between secret gifts and double dates, they start nudging their bosses back together。 But their well-meaning meddling backfires when the real chemistry builds between Ari and Russell。

Working closely with Russell means allowing him to get to know parts of herself that Ari keeps hidden from everyone。 Will he be able to embrace her dark clouds as well as her clear skies?

What a cute adult romance read。 Things I loved:🌦That the MCs were both really nice people🌦That they both had some self-esteem issues🌦That they talked about mental illness and what living with clinical depression is really like。🌦There is a few steamy scenes。Thoughts:🌪I know every romance has that point where there is some big test to their relationship and they break up for a while, but I felt Ari’s reason for the breakup was a little silly。 Also I kind of think that her mental illness impacted t What a cute adult romance read。 Things I loved:🌦That the MCs were both really nice people🌦That they both had some self-esteem issues🌦That they talked about mental illness and what living with clinical depression is really like。🌦There is a few steamy scenes。Thoughts:🌪I know every romance has that point where there is some big test to their relationship and they break up for a while, but I felt Ari’s reason for the breakup was a little silly。 Also I kind of think that her mental illness impacted that。 Perhaps that’s why it seemed silly to me, but not to her。 。。。more

BREAKING NEWS: Toxic workplace environment made cute by parent trap throwback scheme。 More at 9。 On a serious note, there were some aspects of the plot that were a little bit of a reach for me。 The office fighting was a huge yikes。We love to see a fat male lead。 We also love to see a lead with mental illness。 I highly recommend this sweet story to any fan of contemporary romance。 Read this book on a rainy afternoon。

was a very easy read, and the mental health aspects were important and I liked reading it。 nothing super crazy or amazing but it was a good easy quick read

A quick read rom-com set in Seattle。 Themes of mental health, childhood trauma, and navigating relationships when issues emerge, packaged together in a parent trap theme。

3。5 stars。 A gentle sweet rom com(ish)。 I’m of two minds about the first person POV - on the one hand it was well done。 On the other hand I wish we would have had more of the love interest’s insight。 I did love the hero - it’s been awhile since I’ve read a romance with a hero who isn’t totally ripped。 I would read another by this author。

I guess more 3。5 than 4 stars, but it was good。 I definitely liked the first 3/4 of the book best。 The end was just dripping with cutesy lovey-dovey mush。 I rolled my eyes a bunch at the end。 It was just so predictable。

Once again Rachel Lynn Solomon writes a heart wrenching realistic romance。 I literally started crying at the introduction to this book and knew that this book would hit all the feels。 Having a character with depression and not looking for a cure or a partner to come along and not try to change her is honest and a breath of fucking fresh air。 Also not shying away from teen parent struggles and all that entails is spot on!

DNF at 31%。 There's just no spark to keep you wanting to read。 Maybe I didn't give it enough time, but I don't feel like it should take half a book to grab your attention。 DNF at 31%。 There's just no spark to keep you wanting to read。 Maybe I didn't give it enough time, but I don't feel like it should take half a book to grab your attention。 。。。more

I really enjoy Rachel's writing style and all of her books I've read thus far。 This one has been my favorite so far as it has had characters closer to my age。 I cracked up at the Kraken references and them winning as unfortunately that hasn't really been the case, and I would have LOVED a Steve Pool reference。 I grew up in Washington and moved to St。 Louis 1。75 years ago and lately I've really been missing home。 These books are reminding me of home and I love being able to picture the places the I really enjoy Rachel's writing style and all of her books I've read thus far。 This one has been my favorite so far as it has had characters closer to my age。 I cracked up at the Kraken references and them winning as unfortunately that hasn't really been the case, and I would have LOVED a Steve Pool reference。 I grew up in Washington and moved to St。 Louis 1。75 years ago and lately I've really been missing home。 These books are reminding me of home and I love being able to picture the places the characters go as they are places I've been to myself。I really appreciated at the beginning of this book they tell you there are themes of depression in the book and to be cautious if it is triggering for you。 While I was listening to this book it was breaking news that a teenager from Toddlers and Tiara's had committed suicide, Cheslie Kryst's mother had recently been on Red Table Talk discussing Cheslie's depression, and Naomi Judd had just lost her battle with Mental Illness。 I appreciate the author taking the time to include that, but also telling the story about a woman who has depression, and how it affects her life and relationships。 It is still such a taboo topic, it was nice seeing a character with traits I relate to。 。。。more

(rating 3。5/5 stars)This is one of those romance novels that isn't really a romance novel, which isn't a bad thing。 It's just always interesting when a romance novel actually functions more as a bildungsroman (as much as that's possible for a 28-year-old character), but I do like a novel that treats its protagonist's growth as equally important to her love life。 That being said, I think I liked The Ex Talk more than this one because I felt the characters were more realistic in that one, and the (rating 3。5/5 stars)This is one of those romance novels that isn't really a romance novel, which isn't a bad thing。 It's just always interesting when a romance novel actually functions more as a bildungsroman (as much as that's possible for a 28-year-old character), but I do like a novel that treats its protagonist's growth as equally important to her love life。 That being said, I think I liked The Ex Talk more than this one because I felt the characters were more realistic in that one, and the chemistry between Shay and Dominic was more convincing。 I think part of my issue is the insta-love that's in this story。 Ari and Russell are probably already into each other from before the novel even begins, and there isn't any build-up or relationship development in my opinion。 There isn't even the illusion of "if not when。" That being said, I've really enjoyed the Rachel Lynn Solomon novels I've read, and I do have a soft spot for Ari, Russell, and Torrance (I love a powerful, intimidating blonde woman)。 I appreciate the way Solomon wrote about depression and mental illness and Ari's journey throughout the novel。 I think it was a nice representation of how mental illness affects someone but isn't a sort of all-consuming hindrance, if that makes sense。 Also, I love families and friendship and the love between families and friendships and love in general, so that was the sweetest thing for me。 。。。more

“Eventually, you deal with something for long enough that it becomes such an intrinsic part of you, and you can't imagine yourself without it。 You accept it, maybe because you think you deserve it but also because you're scared that if you tried to change it, it wouldn't work。 It feels easier to live in that somber place because you don't know who you are otherwise, and you're worried about putting in all that effort without a guaranteed outcome。”This was a cute romance。 Most of the time I liste “Eventually, you deal with something for long enough that it becomes such an intrinsic part of you, and you can't imagine yourself without it。 You accept it, maybe because you think you deserve it but also because you're scared that if you tried to change it, it wouldn't work。 It feels easier to live in that somber place because you don't know who you are otherwise, and you're worried about putting in all that effort without a guaranteed outcome。”This was a cute romance。 Most of the time I listened to the audiobook and let me just that it was perfection。 The narrator did an excellent job at changing the voices of the characters, their tones, and the way they talk。 It was mindblowing, to say the least。 So, kudos for that。 Now, the story itself, for me, was average。 It is like your typical Netflix rom-com movie, which is okay but nothing outstanding。 I thought the representation of mental illness, in this case, depression, was handled with care and respect。 I liked seeing the main character, Ari, go through therapy and talk about her feelings and reflect on her experience with it。 I liked that the love interest, Russel, was not your regular stereotypical hot man。 He was such a delight and very caring and understanding of Ari, which was amazing。 I just wish there was more chemistry between them because I felt like there was barely any passion in their relationship, I get that they were going slow but, I don't know, I was missing that spark。Also, I was not a fan of the whole setting-up-our-bosses-together- plot。 It was kind of lame。 The last part of this book was cheesy and the ending was a lot。 But whatever, it was entertaing。 。。。more

I’d give it 3。5 stars。 I thought Weather Girl was a very easy, enjoyable read, and I love a book with a Jewish heroine and body diversity。 I also appreciated that the book explored some more difficult/complex topics, such as mental health and mixed families。 Overall a good read!
