Summary

Will she accept the offer before the clock strikes midnight?

Sophie Beckett never dreamed she'd be able to sneak into Lady Bridgerton's famed masquerade ball。 Though the daughter of an earl, Sophie has been relegated to the role of servant by her disdainful stepmother。 But now, waltzing in the strong arms of the debonair and devastatingly handsome Benedict Bridgerton, she feels like royalty。 Alas, she knows all enchantments must end when the clock strikes midnight。

Who was that extraordinary woman? Ever since that magical night, a radiant vision in silver has blinded Benedict to the attractions of any other— except, perhaps, this alluring and oddly familiar beauty dressed in housemaid's garb。 He has sworn to find and wed his mystery miss, but this breathtaking maid makes him weak with wanting her。 If he offers her his heart, will he sacrifice his only chance for a fairy-tale love?

I was a tad worried the whole book was to be consumed by a Cinderella retelling, but was pleasant surprised at the turn and new direction it took。 We haven’t heard too much about Benedict until this book and I thoroughly enjoyed getting to read his story!!

I was pleasantly surprised by An Offer From a Gentleman。 Normally, I'm not a fan of fairy tale retellings--I think it can come across as lazy storytelling。 The basis of the story is already there and all an author has to do is change some names。 However, this retelling of the classic Cinderella story was lovely。 The stepmother figure was so well written, I hated her immediately。 And the ending。。。sigh。 Just what a fairy tale ending should be, with a few twists and turns。 Julia Quinn has such a wi I was pleasantly surprised by An Offer From a Gentleman。 Normally, I'm not a fan of fairy tale retellings--I think it can come across as lazy storytelling。 The basis of the story is already there and all an author has to do is change some names。 However, this retelling of the classic Cinderella story was lovely。 The stepmother figure was so well written, I hated her immediately。 And the ending。。。sigh。 Just what a fairy tale ending should be, with a few twists and turns。 Julia Quinn has such a witty style that balances humor, seriousness, and social commentary all at once。 This story was at turns hilarious and touching, and for brief moments, heartbreaking。 。。。more

Another cute story, liked it but did not love it。 I did not care for the main characters that much。

Stupid book。 A rip-off of Cinderella

By far the best Bridgerton novel - made me cry

Jöhet a következő。Hosszú éjszakám lesz, azt hiszem, de e sorok írója úgy érzi, ma "befalja" a Bridgertonokat! Főleg, hogy most jön PENELOPE és Colin!!!! 11/20。

These are fun quick books。 I enjoy these light-hearted books and plan to read her entire Bridgerton Series。

Honestly, I forgot about Benedict when you think of the Bridgertons (Collin for life) but this was a lovely story - I connected instantly with Sophie and I loved the Cinderella-esque vibes I got from the story。 Anthony’s was still my favorite but this one was great!

Better than the last one。

This Author has done it again by surprising even the most stubborn of readers with a story with a consistent cast of characters but still a very different love story。 In all seriousness though, the book was different while being consistent at the same time。 Definitely more struggle and internal issues in this book as compared with the first two, which was more enrapturing。

Cinderella story for Bridgerton sibling number two, Benedict。 He meets a mysterious girl at a masked ball put on by his mother, is enthralled with her and hunts for her for two years。 When they meet again, he has to rescue her from three of his drunken acquaintances at a house party。 She recognizes him right off but he does not recognize her and she refuses to tell him who she is。 He finds her a position in his mother's household, where his family takes to her right off despite her masquerading Cinderella story for Bridgerton sibling number two, Benedict。 He meets a mysterious girl at a masked ball put on by his mother, is enthralled with her and hunts for her for two years。 When they meet again, he has to rescue her from three of his drunken acquaintances at a house party。 She recognizes him right off but he does not recognize her and she refuses to tell him who she is。 He finds her a position in his mother's household, where his family takes to her right off despite her masquerading as a lowly servant girl。 Good story but nothing unusually special。 。。。more

Benedict, oh Benedict。 Definitely enjoyed book 1&2 (Daphne/Simon, Anthony/Kate) better than this one。 And I think to be fair, it is equally Benedict and Sophie’s fault。 Benedict is an awful guy- pressures Sophie to get physical with him, looks down upon her “status” in society, and doesn’t see anything wrong with what he’s doing。 He’s an incredibly selfish man。 Sophie isn’t all bad, she’s just not very interesting。 A bit of a dull wallflower to be honest。 Her meek attitude may have been describe Benedict, oh Benedict。 Definitely enjoyed book 1&2 (Daphne/Simon, Anthony/Kate) better than this one。 And I think to be fair, it is equally Benedict and Sophie’s fault。 Benedict is an awful guy- pressures Sophie to get physical with him, looks down upon her “status” in society, and doesn’t see anything wrong with what he’s doing。 He’s an incredibly selfish man。 Sophie isn’t all bad, she’s just not very interesting。 A bit of a dull wallflower to be honest。 Her meek attitude may have been described as “kind” and “shy” or whatever, but I find her to be more like a doormat。 And maybe that’s because I’ve never really liked or respected Cinderella, so it’s hard for me to respect Sophie too。 Another reason this book wasn’t as great as the others I’ve read so far in the series, is that we get a “villain” in this book- aka the “evil stepmother” role in the Cinderella story。 I don’t necessarily want to read about a villain in this sort of paperback cheesy romance type of genre。 It turned the whole energy of the book kind of negative。That said, the author is still a good writer, and I’m going to finish the series。。。but I will always have a little mistrust around Benedict now when I see him on Netflix because DANG he’s kind of an a$$!! 。。。more

O MEU LIVRO PREFERIDO ATÉ AGORA!!! PERFEITO

I was nervous that the Cinderella plotline was going to be the whole thing but it was thankfully short。 Sophie is a great heroine and it was nice to have the main female character not be rich for once - mixed up the plot and the issues。Benedict is definitely a total ass in this but at least it is acknowledged in the end。 Hopefully they fix it in the show a bit (which seems pretty easy to do)。

Lizz

Not my favorite of the series thus far, but still a good book。

Sandra Franco

Lovely homage to the well known Cinderella tale。 I truly loved the main character and could not put this book down。

I've just finished re-reading this book and OH MY!
