Angelina is pretty mean, but it turns out all right in the end。 As always, fantastic illustrations。

Major Themes: The major themes are Selfishness, Friendship, and Kindness。Personal Response: I connect with this book in multiple ways。 I am the youngest in my family。 I have an older brother and an older sister。 There have been many times in my life where my older sister was responsible for me like Angelina was responsible for little cousin Henry。 One thing I admire about this book is that Henry never objects to the things Angelina wants to do。 Occasionally, he’ll ask to do something he wants to do。 However, he never refuses to do what Angelina wants to do。 He is kind and willing to do what she wants。 Angelina, on the other hand, is mean to Henry and objects to everything he wants to do until they get separated。 Growing up, I could have been more like Henry when my sister, Ashley, was responsible for me。 Recommendation: Angelina at the Fair could be used in the classroom in multiple ways。 It introduces the idea of friends taking turns when playing。 Selfishness begins at an early age so it is important to address as soon as possible。 Angelina at the Fair portrays selfishness in a way that many children can relate to。 It also stresses the importance of friendship and learning to be kind to each other in all circumstances。 Henry is a good example of how to act when someone is being mean to you。 At the end of the book, Angelina learns to be kind and selfless to Henry。 This also is a good example of how a friend should act。 Reading Angelina at the Fair in class would allow for discussion of how friends should and shouldn’t act。 。。。more

Cute and sweet。

Angelina wants to go to the fair with her friends。 She has been saving for it all winter。 But when the day comes, she is forced to bring her little cousin, Henry。 I think the story has potential, but I found it to be weak。

Angelina is excited that May is here along with the fair! She’s been waiting all winter for this event, but now that it is here she is expected to take her little cousin, Henry to the fair with her。 Angelina is unhappy and does not want her cousin to spend the day with her。 This book has a good life lesson within the story, and Angelina learns a little bit about herself as well。 Very cute!

Angelina takes Henry to the fair for rides。 She takes him on all the scary fast rides, thinking this is what he would like most, however that is not necessarily the case。

Cassandra

It was quite jolting how quickly Angelina started treating Henry well, though I do understand why。 Her attitude at the beginning of the book made me sad!

Janet

The age old theme of the older child doesn't want the younger one to tag along。 Angelina doesn't want to be responsible for younger cousin Henry at the fair。 After some mishaps with age inappropriate fair activities all ends on a happy note。 The age old theme of the older child doesn't want the younger one to tag along。 Angelina doesn't want to be responsible for younger cousin Henry at the fair。 After some mishaps with age inappropriate fair activities all ends on a happy note。 。。。more

This is the Angelina book I remember loving as a kid。 Still like it better than the first Angelina。

This book is a sweet tale about dealing with change in plans。 It encompasses some good emotions to teach children to deal with these changes。 Lovely illustrations。

Angelina is not doing too much dancing in this one; instead she is saddled with taking her little cousin to the fair。 We were really very pleased with this, probably mostly because we've had a summer of going to a lot of fairs, and this was a very cute look at all the goings-on。 I find the TV show so maudlin that I forget I generally very much enjoy the Holabird books themselves。 Angelina is not doing too much dancing in this one; instead she is saddled with taking her little cousin to the fair。 We were really very pleased with this, probably mostly because we've had a summer of going to a lot of fairs, and this was a very cute look at all the goings-on。 I find the TV show so maudlin that I forget I generally very much enjoy the Holabird books themselves。 。。。more

Good Angelina book, introducing Henry。 Usual Angelina does wrong, showed wrong, feels better, ends happily deal。

Kristen Scott

Great book to do self connections with students。 Shows how Angelina didnt want to bring her cousin to the fair but close to the end she discovers its not always about her and does what her cousin likes。

Heather

32 months - we always enjoy a straight forward Angelina story。

What I liked the most about this book was how its main focus was to tell the story and the moral of the story is hidden underneath。 The story is natural to read and it's an easy one for children to connect with and apply。 The illustrations are great at conveying the emotions that the characters are feeling, which also helps children relate to the story。 What I liked the most about this book was how its main focus was to tell the story and the moral of the story is hidden underneath。 The story is natural to read and it's an easy one for children to connect with and apply。 The illustrations are great at conveying the emotions that the characters are feeling, which also helps children relate to the story。 。。。more

Angelina desperately wants to go to fair, but does NOT want to take her cousin with her。 She eventually realizes that it's not always about what she wants, and gladly does whatever her cousin wants to do towards the end。 -Good book to teach about life skills, and social studies。-A good text-to-self reference book Angelina desperately wants to go to fair, but does NOT want to take her cousin with her。 She eventually realizes that it's not always about what she wants, and gladly does whatever her cousin wants to do towards the end。 -Good book to teach about life skills, and social studies。-A good text-to-self reference book 。。。more
