From New York Times bestselling author Kristen Ashley comes the new book in her River Rain series, Taking the Leap

Alexandra Sharp has been crushing on her co-worker, John “Rix” Hendrix for years。 He’s her perfect man, she knows it。

She’s just not his perfect woman, and she knows that too。

Then Rix gives Alex a hint that maybe there’s a spark between them that, if she takes the leap, she might be able to fan into a flame。 This leads to a crash and burn, and that’s all shy Alex needs to catch the hint never to take the risk again。

However, with undeniable timing, Rix’s ex, who broke his heart, and Alex’s family, who spent her lifetime breaking hers, rear their heads, gearing up to offer more drama。 With the help of some matchmaking friends, Rix and Alex decide to face the onslaught together…

As a fake couple。

DFN @ 40%。More of the same, old EXTRA DESCRIPTIVENESS, alpha males who are semi assholes, and the main girl insecurities that I have read in at least 30 if her books。 BASTA。I can't do KA anymore。 I'll try, but I just don't think I could start any new series。。。 we'll see。 At least this one is done for me。。。 DFN @ 40%。More of the same, old EXTRA DESCRIPTIVENESS, alpha males who are semi assholes, and the main girl insecurities that I have read in at least 30 if her books。 BASTA。I can't do KA anymore。 I'll try, but I just don't think I could start any new series。。。 we'll see。 At least this one is done for me。。。 。。。more

can’t wait for moreI was excited about Rix’s story and it didn’t disappoint。 The only thing I will say is that I felt the book was a good place to end a few time but then it kept going…。 And going…overall it was a good read as part of the River Rain crew books。

Not one of my favorites in this series。。。it lacked the intrigue that I usually associate with the author。 I enjoyed the occasional appearance of Judge and Chloe。。。and Rix and Alex’s story traversed through some new territory (amputation) which was done in the usual sensitive and graceful manner that is signature of the author。

Amber

Enjoyable but predictable storyline

Jeniver

I like this author because she always create male with possesive attitude and female with sweetness。

Positively Gutted MeThis story, Rix and Alex, positively gutted me at times。 So many angles, and the sweet and charming personalities of the characters from earlier books shone through beautifully。

3。5 nice read not as good as her old stuff

Quickie review: 3。5 stars。 This was not bad, but I went into it with low expectations and enjoyed it in general。 I liked the first half more than the second。 I liked that Alex was shy and outdoorsy, but by the end she was another KA rich heroine。 Still, it was a cute story。 Rix was ok。 I didn't quite see what was so special about him。 He was a little dull and Alex was fine, but neither wowed me personality-wse。 But I still enjoyed the book in general。 Quickie review: 3。5 stars。 This was not bad, but I went into it with low expectations and enjoyed it in general。 I liked the first half more than the second。 I liked that Alex was shy and outdoorsy, but by the end she was another KA rich heroine。 Still, it was a cute story。 Rix was ok。 I didn't quite see what was so special about him。 He was a little dull and Alex was fine, but neither wowed me personality-wse。 But I still enjoyed the book in general。 。。。more

I am a fan of Ashley as a writer, and I have read most of her books。 She is one of my favorite go-to romance authors to escape into when life feels stressful or overwhelming。 I loved the latest book in her River Rain series。 I genuinely liked Alex, and after a few course corrections, I liked Rix, too。 This was a low angst book where the couple work out their relationship in a healthy way, both characters grow and become better through the support of their partner, and most of the conflict comes I am a fan of Ashley as a writer, and I have read most of her books。 She is one of my favorite go-to romance authors to escape into when life feels stressful or overwhelming。 I loved the latest book in her River Rain series。 I genuinely liked Alex, and after a few course corrections, I liked Rix, too。 This was a low angst book where the couple work out their relationship in a healthy way, both characters grow and become better through the support of their partner, and most of the conflict comes from outside sources。I highly recommend this book to fans of Ashely, fans of romance, and anyone looking for a sweet romance with depth but low angst。 。。。more

Series just keeps getting better。 Heart warming, hot, beautiful story。 These families are not perfect, but they find their soul mates。 Funny, sad, and loving。

This story started slow but the more I read the more it came to life。 WOW! Really, really enjoyed it! Alex has always been shy but when she knows about something meaningful she is all in。 She was at a bar and having a good time when she noticed that Rix, who she works with and has a crush on, seems to be flirting with her。 Holy Cow! Is this right? But guess what she is starting to freak out and decides to use the bathroom to chill。 But when she comes back guess who is with another woman? Taking the Leap is book three of the River Rain series and is my favorite。 The characters are well developed and the story takes on topics of disability that is not seen in many books let alone romances。 I greatly enjoyed the interaction and heat between the main characters。 The storyline had depth and leaves a lasting impact on the reader。 This series has everything one comes to expect from Kristen Ashley。

when KA doesn't find anything to critic about her secondary characters, she disses their names。 Poor Chad。 I distinctly remember a Brad from her previous xyz novel。KA uses 'masculinity' and 'femininity' of names to another extent。 the H for eg, always need to have a badass supermanly name that the h will think of for a page。 when KA doesn't find anything to critic about her secondary characters, she disses their names。 Poor Chad。 I distinctly remember a Brad from her previous xyz novel。KA uses 'masculinity' and 'femininity' of names to another extent。 the H for eg, always need to have a badass supermanly name that the h will think of for a page。 。。。more

There are very few times when I've been disappointed by a Kristen Ashley book。 This was not one of those times。 One of my very favorite things is when a romance author takes a secondary character and turns him into a hero I can fall in love with。 My original impression of Rix was that he's an asshole。 A background asshole。 I was wrong。 He may not be a marshmallow, but he had a heart worth earning。 And he was a strong, sexy, smart hero。I loved his vulnerabilities and I loved the way he finally le There are very few times when I've been disappointed by a Kristen Ashley book。 This was not one of those times。 One of my very favorite things is when a romance author takes a secondary character and turns him into a hero I can fall in love with。 My original impression of Rix was that he's an asshole。 A background asshole。 I was wrong。 He may not be a marshmallow, but he had a heart worth earning。 And he was a strong, sexy, smart hero。I loved his vulnerabilities and I loved the way he finally let Alex in。It's a pleasant surprise when I read a book simply because it's part of a series and I want to keep on top of what's happening before the next book, but end up being totally caught off guard by how invested I become in the characters and their HEA。Can't wait to read the next! 。。。more

It was not quite what I thought going into this one, but I enjoyed the story。 I liked the way that Rix's disability was handled and I thought that Alex really handled it well when they got on the same page。 She never assumed anything but asked probing questions to get Rix to open up to her。 I am glad that Rix and Judge were able to work things through and they both had their eyes opened to the feelings of the other once they settled down。 It was not quite what I thought going into this one, but I enjoyed the story。 I liked the way that Rix's disability was handled and I thought that Alex really handled it well when they got on the same page。 She never assumed anything but asked probing questions to get Rix to open up to her。 I am glad that Rix and Judge were able to work things through and they both had their eyes opened to the feelings of the other once they settled down。 。。。more

I went into this book with some trepidation。 I have personal knowledge of amputees, especially double amputees like Rix, and it would be glaringly obvious to me if things didn't make sense。 Thankfully nothing obvious stood out so that's good。 This book was similar to the others in the series。 We got a mix of characters that appeared in the previous books, plus some new ones。 Families and relationships are what KA does best, and that continued with this installment。 The relationship between Rix a I went into this book with some trepidation。 I have personal knowledge of amputees, especially double amputees like Rix, and it would be glaringly obvious to me if things didn't make sense。 Thankfully nothing obvious stood out so that's good。 This book was similar to the others in the series。 We got a mix of characters that appeared in the previous books, plus some new ones。 Families and relationships are what KA does best, and that continued with this installment。 The relationship between Rix and Alex evolved at a pace that felt right。 Even when Rix was making grand statements about what they were (and weren't) and then completely changing things。。。。more than once。 He obviously has his relationship issues。 Overall, it was a good read。 。。。more

2。5 stars。 I think I'm going to have to take a break from this author。 I used to love her alpha-male/caveman Hs but now it's just not bvb appealing for me anymore。 And all the little details--like I really don't need to read about how they spread butter on their toast or how much milk in poured into their cereal 🤷🏽‍♀️。 I skimmed so much just to get through because I actually l liked Alex and was interested in how she overcame her shyness to be with Rix。 But everything else was just too much。 2。5 stars。 I think I'm going to have to take a break from this author。 I used to love her alpha-male/caveman Hs but now it's just not bvb appealing for me anymore。 And all the little details--like I really don't need to read about how they spread butter on their toast or how much milk in poured into their cereal 🤷🏽‍♀️。 I skimmed so much just to get through because I actually l liked Alex and was interested in how she overcame her shyness to be with Rix。 But everything else was just too much。 。。。more

I alternately loved and wanted to kick Rix several times during this book。 And at the same time, I sort of get his behavior。 What I don't get is how Alex became the person she was, given her loathesome mother and her (apparently redeemable) sister。 At first, her dad seemed like a douche as well, but turns out Alex had already built her own world (to deal with the real one) and didn't notice how he tried。 But back to Rix and Alex。 We already knew from the previous one that Alex was super shy but I alternately loved and wanted to kick Rix several times during this book。 And at the same time, I sort of get his behavior。 What I don't get is how Alex became the person she was, given her loathesome mother and her (apparently redeemable) sister。 At first, her dad seemed like a douche as well, but turns out Alex had already built her own world (to deal with the real one) and didn't notice how he tried。 But back to Rix and Alex。 We already knew from the previous one that Alex was super shy but super into Rix。 Rix was oblivious。 He thought her awkwardness boiled down to that she didn't know how to handle someone who had lost their legs。 This is totally not an issue for Alex。 One after-work outing to a bar lowers Alex's inhibitions, and she and Rix talk and realize they really have a lot in common。 Alex goes to the bathroom to give herself a pep talk about Rix, and when she returns。。。。 he's moved on to a gorgeous woman Alex thinks she doesn't measure up to。 (Kick #1 for Rix。) But they have to work together。 She can do this。Enter Chloe and her little matchmaking skills。 She finds out that Alex had told her sister that Alex would be bringing her "fiance" Rix to her wedding in a few weeks (a wedding Alex was only barely involved in, and only because her father found out she wasn't part of it, like not even invited)。 Once Chloe drops that little info nugget, Rix is all in to pretend to be her fiance, which forces them to spend more time together, which brings up real feelings。。。 and Rix kinda freaks。 (Kick #2 for Rix。) But again, they have to work together。 Alex can do this。 But Rix can't stand how frozen out he feels (his fault, just saying)。 Anyway, they get their shit together and all hell breaks loose at the wedding, but Rix and Alex end up a strong couple。 。。。more

This author is normally an automatic buy for me。 She never disappoints。 The conversation! The chemistry! The angst! Oh and yes those excellent love scene。 She is true master。 I hate say it in print。 But…。 I just can’t seem to get into her “Rock chick “ books。 I have attempted several times and I just think maybe she spends too much time “empowering the female and absolutely loses the male in the endeavor。 I digress。 This one was a winner。 And I love this author。

I am thoroughly enjoying this series。 I actually just visited Prescott, Arizona (for other reasons, not because of the book。) lol。 I appreciate the sensitivity KA took with having a hero with a disability。 It took a little time to get going but was an overall wonderful read。

Awe!I greatly enjoyed this one! Wasn’t sure how I’d feel about Rix after the first chapter, but he grew on me。
