Meh。 We are not a fan of this book。 Super gross and hard to read out loud。 Most of the book rhymes but then out of no where you hit a page that does not。 It's like driving into a really deep pot hole。 Meh。 We are not a fan of this book。 Super gross and hard to read out loud。 Most of the book rhymes but then out of no where you hit a page that does not。 It's like driving into a really deep pot hole。 。。。more

A great silly books for kids!

Meh。 It is really just a list of a bunch of gross stuff that a monster eats。 Nothing special about it。

Weak stomachs, steer clear。 I really enjoyed this cute, funky book。 As a kid, I know I would have gotten a kick out of all the gross things that Max loves to eat。 My grandmother and I would think up of roadkill dishes we were going to make my mom make for supper when she got home (and in return my mom would put on a big show about being grossed out, rightfully so), so I can honestly say I really would have loved reading this with my mom just to make her squirm。 I'm sure my child will be the same Weak stomachs, steer clear。 I really enjoyed this cute, funky book。 As a kid, I know I would have gotten a kick out of all the gross things that Max loves to eat。 My grandmother and I would think up of roadkill dishes we were going to make my mom make for supper when she got home (and in return my mom would put on a big show about being grossed out, rightfully so), so I can honestly say I really would have loved reading this with my mom just to make her squirm。 I'm sure my child will be the same。I do have to complain that when the rhyming sequence is dropped, it is a little jaring, and I am not sure about the last addition/the conclusion。The illustrations were colorful, really detailed, and super enjoyable to look at。 I think kids would love it, and would love to try and draw Max themselves。 。。。more

Enqi said it is really silly, the monster eats the stuff that people dont eat。

No thanks for the toenails and lice。

I wasn't very keen on this book。 It's a bit disgusting and silly。 I can see that if might be a fun book for a bedtime read or a quick filler activity read though。 I wasn't very keen on this book。 It's a bit disgusting and silly。 I can see that if might be a fun book for a bedtime read or a quick filler activity read though。 。。。more

My son loved this book。 All about the grossest things monsters could eat is enough for any child to love。

Meh。 Most of the things listed are good protein sources, and, as a veggie, no more gross to eat than what most people have on a daily basis。

Kristen Dutkiewicz

Silly book explaining what Max the monster likes to eat。

Delightfully yucky and gross -- perfect for our "YUCK!" storytime this week。 Hopefully the kids (and their parents) will agree。 Delightfully yucky and gross -- perfect for our "YUCK!" storytime this week。 Hopefully the kids (and their parents) will agree。 。。。more

What sounded like a cute recommendation by a kid, quickly turned into a queasy book that made me never want to eat again。 Fun, but not for those who ever want to eat rice again。

A monster loves to eat all of the gross things you can think of。 He even orders food from outer space, but his favorite food is spider sandwiches。 In the end, we learn that children are not the only ones that hate cabbage soup。6+1 Traits:Word ChoicePresentationLexile: 850LGuided Reading: F

this was a fun book for children who like gross and out of the ordinary things。 A monster tells us of all the foods he likes to eat。 But it's not like our food, it's slimy and gross and extra ordinary。 The more weirder the better。 But his favorite is spider sandwiches he saves the legs for last。 this was a fun book for children who like gross and out of the ordinary things。 A monster tells us of all the foods he likes to eat。 But it's not like our food, it's slimy and gross and extra ordinary。 The more weirder the better。 But his favorite is spider sandwiches he saves the legs for last。 。。。more

Great book to read before Halloween! The illustrations are bold and eye catching。 Children will enjoy colorful vocabulary。There seemed to be no real story but rather a list of foods。 3-7 year olds will enjoy Max the monsters crazy appetite。

This was a book my five year old chose to read for our nightly story time over and over。 It has really great yet also really gross imagery which lend itself to a wonderful discussion or classroom activity about the 5 senses。 The rhyming style is great for children who like to figure out that final rhyme when the reader pauses。 The conclusion of the story could lead tosome higher order thinking skills via a discussion with a teacher or parent about what the ending is telling us。 A fun extension t This was a book my five year old chose to read for our nightly story time over and over。 It has really great yet also really gross imagery which lend itself to a wonderful discussion or classroom activity about the 5 senses。 The rhyming style is great for children who like to figure out that final rhyme when the reader pauses。 The conclusion of the story could lead tosome higher order thinking skills via a discussion with a teacher or parent about what the ending is telling us。 A fun extension to the story would be to create some of those fun Halloween snacks like peeled grapes and do a brussel sprout taste test too。 。。。more

If you're eating or just ate, this isn't the time to be reading this book! Although my preschool kids loved this book since it was monster week in our room, this book made me a little sick to my stomach。 However, the illustrations are very cute and gives the children an opportunity to experiment with their own imagination。 This is a good book to read before Halloween, my students enjoyed it much more than I did! Although the text is enjoyable, the author breaks away from the predictable rhyme scheme a few times, which is jarring to the reader。 Successfully gross, spider sandwiches are only one of the many disturbing foods that Max enjoys eating。 The large, colorful cartoon illustrations were created digitally and feature many fun details for young readers to explore。 Kids ages 3-7 will enjoy this monster tale, whether shared one-on-one or in a group setting。

I love the cover it has sparkly spider webs。The pictures is just gross。 I mean, really GROSS。 Grasshopper legs, toes。。。I think I would rather each Green Sprouts。。I think it is great that this creature can order food online from space。。。that is truly cool!! Pictures are fantastic, and so much fun but BLECK! Perfect creepy book to get you in the Halloween Spirit!!
