just as the other bsd light novels, “55 minutes” really is an experience。 before beginning to read it, i thought it wasn't something relevant to the main plot but only a mere, calm novel。 how foolish it was of me to have thought that at first。 this, along everything connected to the bungō stray dogs universe, is a true masterpiece。 i love asagiri's writing, he is perfectly good at expressing meaningful concepts such as the ones present in his works; the way he addresses and talks about several t just as the other bsd light novels, “55 minutes” really is an experience。 before beginning to read it, i thought it wasn't something relevant to the main plot but only a mere, calm novel。 how foolish it was of me to have thought that at first。 this, along everything connected to the bungō stray dogs universe, is a true masterpiece。 i love asagiri's writing, he is perfectly good at expressing meaningful concepts such as the ones present in his works; the way he addresses and talks about several topics, while every character has their own devolopment, is indeed beautiful。 i never was disappointed in reading his light novels, and “55 minutes” was no exception。 each single novel represents an aspect of human's nature, and this is interesting considered that every bsd character struggles to accept their own humanity, especially osamu dazai。i hope that other bsd fans read these light novels too :)p。 s。 i'll add some of this novel's quotes when i have time。 。。。more

An excellent blend of suspense and action, you can basically jump right in without knowing much about the background world as long as you can get over the names being that if authors。

You're totally wrong, because EVEN if I am not a fan of the manga, this book will certainly be one of my decent read。First of all, the concept in this book the author brought up is AMAZING。 It's not like the motive is especially different or anything, nor is the villain is a totally unique one I might say。 But this villain isn't easy to be hated。 I love his skill, it's amazing。 I love the way he never forgot his loyalty to his closest friends and to protect the island, thus preventing the Annihilation from being used。 But most especially, was the background of his "crime"。Revealing Gab as actually a "skill that had gone berserk" was actually pretty smart。 With this happened, all the questionable things happened in the manga and other LNs were easily brought up to light。 The thing that before wasn't noticed by anyone and questions that before had no answer are finally laid out bare in the open with this book。 I love how Asagiri elaborated every single one of them and left out the most important one just like that。 Anyway, the entirety of that alone is amazing for us to follow。The second one is H。G。Wells。 Her skills and experience, her sacrifation and her personality in general, the skill she possesses and the concept of time travel was very very amazing。 The way Asagiri try to make sense the whole thing about Annihilation and Time-Travel Ability using the physics law was AMAZING。 Not only because I'm in the period where I love science-fiction, it's also because the theory is especially interesting。 (Oh also the way they brough up special ability singularity is also cool, too, kinda helping me understand Dead Apple much?)The last one is, of course, Atsushi, Akutagawa, and the rest of the characters。 I won't elaborate much, but the way Akutagawa prioritize to save Yokohama instead of revenge; the way he taking the initiative to joint hands with Atsushi; the way he encouraged Atsushi to never give up。。。 Well。。。 Is he really hated Atsushi, though 😂?Also, all the scenes with Dazai on the brink of death, the explanation about how to bring him back without being contradictory (using Yosano's skill eventhough his skill was to nullify it) was also very interesting。I have yet read so many Light Novels of this manga so i cant really say much。 But I believe this one would be the best。 Taking a whole new concept, elaborate theories, bringing up plot holes in manga, and using a very beautiful Mysterius island as the setting。。。 Well, how is this book not the best?Well, at least I could say that this book is better than Dark Era though。 Absolutely worth it。 5/5!! <33 p。s。 i heard someone said that untold story is the best bsd LN, im planning to read that so i think this book will later demoted lol 😂 p。s。s。 ranpo in the last part is literally so funny。 p。s。s。s。 kinda feel bad for gab though。。。 。。。more

Asagiri did it again

The plot’s alright and the new characters are fun! But the writing itself is just… extremely clumsy。 I’m sure part of it can be blamed on the spectacularly awkward English translation。 But it also seems likely that Kafka Asagiri makes a miles better plot- & character-oriented manga writer than the kind of literary author who’s required to craft pretty sentences to describe things…Some of Akutagawa’s overly dramatic comments were pretty hilarious, though! And I’m glad Dazai realizes he’s trash。

No。 It feels a little convoluted and purposefully complex in a way that no sane person can decipher。 But I still loved the intention and feelings behind it。 I also loved the ending for our villain。 Was it necessary or a required read? Also no, but if you love these characters then this is a must-read because it is worth reading every page about them。 From the ways they interact, to the ways they think and work and function alongside their gifts。 Would've been fun to have Fyodor in a novel though, I've not seen that done yet。 。。。more

good fucking lord, this book has a fairly normal beginning and then suddenly So Much Is Happening All The Time。 a fun ride。 also i liked the atsushi focus, it helped me better understand his character, and i liked asagiri's exploration of what exactly a "skill" is。 so much new lore, though - i can't decide whether it's good or not to introduce it all in one volume。 if you're a bsd fan and you haven't read this, please do。 good fucking lord, this book has a fairly normal beginning and then suddenly So Much Is Happening All The Time。 a fun ride。 also i liked the atsushi focus, it helped me better understand his character, and i liked asagiri's exploration of what exactly a "skill" is。 so much new lore, though - i can't decide whether it's good or not to introduce it all in one volume。 if you're a bsd fan and you haven't read this, please do。 。。。more

This book was quite funny, and intriuing too。 Each of the characters are rather eccentric, especially Dazai。 Kunikida is my favorite character。They have powers。 But there is one instance I felt that was a little too unrealistic, even with the powers。 Towards the end, someone gets stabbed all the way through his body, and he lives。 Not only that, but two other characters drag him to the "basement" of the island, from the top of a building。 No one would live after being stabbed and moved a great d This book was quite funny, and intriuing too。 Each of the characters are rather eccentric, especially Dazai。 Kunikida is my favorite character。They have powers。 But there is one instance I felt that was a little too unrealistic, even with the powers。 Towards the end, someone gets stabbed all the way through his body, and he lives。 Not only that, but two other characters drag him to the "basement" of the island, from the top of a building。 No one would live after being stabbed and moved a great distance, even if they had powers。I still loved this book though, as I found the characters really funny and descriptions were rather interesting。 。。。more

I am in a mood to binge read this series。 What i love about this book:-made me kinda teary eye-akutagawa and atsushi's tsundere moments-kunikida and dazai's tsundere moments-my slow brain is now slowly understanding why Dazai said that atsushi is "stronger" than akutagawa-i know HG Wells showed up here and appeared a few times but i'm interested about her character and would want to meet her more。-dazai's mind games as usual-the relationship of Gab and atsushi (plus the theives) I am in a mood to binge read this series。 What i love about this book:-made me kinda teary eye-akutagawa and atsushi's tsundere moments-kunikida and dazai's tsundere moments-my slow brain is now slowly understanding why Dazai said that atsushi is "stronger" than akutagawa-i know HG Wells showed up here and appeared a few times but i'm interested about her character and would want to meet her more。-dazai's mind games as usual-the relationship of Gab and atsushi (plus the theives) 。。。more

I wasn't too hooked at the story's beginning, it was a kinda weak start, but after the first events start to blow up you only want to know more。 I'm not a huge Atsushi's fan, he's far from being my fav character in the series, but I must admit I liked his role in this novel as main character。 I missed more Dazai's appearances but I ended up enjoying the novel more than I thought after reading the first pages。 I wasn't too hooked at the story's beginning, it was a kinda weak start, but after the first events start to blow up you only want to know more。 I'm not a huge Atsushi's fan, he's far from being my fav character in the series, but I must admit I liked his role in this novel as main character。 I missed more Dazai's appearances but I ended up enjoying the novel more than I thought after reading the first pages。 。。。more
