Princess Meets。。。 Manga Artist?!

Ever since their father died, Ichiro Kuga has struggled to support his two younger siblings on nothing but a small inheritance and his passion for drawing manga。 But it's becoming harder to keep up with his growing responsibilities and deadlines, especially after his last two assistants quit to follow their dreams。 Just as he’s nearing his breaking point, the beautiful and scarily competent Shiori Goshiki applies to become his new assistant。 But there’s something almost otherworldly about Goshiki, and soon Kuga finds his reality turned upside down when she suddenly declares them engaged to marry!

This one starts off well。 It is really cute all the characters are enjoyable。 The little sister is adorable。 I especially enjoyed the joke about not spending 10 volumes hiding feelings。 I am excited to see how this progresses。 It is off to a good start but doesn't do anything to make it stand out yet。 This one starts off well。 It is really cute all the characters are enjoyable。 The little sister is adorable。 I especially enjoyed the joke about not spending 10 volumes hiding feelings。 I am excited to see how this progresses。 It is off to a good start but doesn't do anything to make it stand out yet。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 this was pretty strange, but unexpectedly cute。 I found it randomly at barnes and picked it up because the cover was too gorgeous。 I nearly put it back when I realized it was the same mangaka as Sweetness and Lightning, which is adorable looking but also involves my least favorite trope - age-gap romance where one party is a minor (blech)。 I scoured the internet and this book before purchasing to make sure it did not have a similar relationship, and for anyone wanting to make sure of this before this was pretty strange, but unexpectedly cute。 I found it randomly at barnes and picked it up because the cover was too gorgeous。 I nearly put it back when I realized it was the same mangaka as Sweetness and Lightning, which is adorable looking but also involves my least favorite trope - age-gap romance where one party is a minor (blech)。 I scoured the internet and this book before purchasing to make sure it did not have a similar relationship, and for anyone wanting to make sure of this before you buy, I'm happy to let you know that it does not。 this volume follows the story of ichiro, a mangaka who is taking care of his two young siblings after his father passes away。 he finds a new (age-appropriate) assistant who is great at her job in an almost otherworldly way。。。then one night he pokes himself on what he thinks is a pen sticking out of her back, but turns out to be a stinger。 it gets weirder - because of the stinger poke, he's now tethered to her as her betrothed。 it's more than just a regular engagement, since he's actually physically tethered to her in the sense that his body will react if she's too far away, or if she gets upset/angry/etc。 their relationship then begins to form into a true bond as they navigate this betrothal, their work, and ichiro's family。 it's。。。unique, to say the least。 and I'm still a little confused over why she has a stinger (something about alien bacteria who fell from stars and are basically living as parasites in her people, back on their island? she's the princess)。 but the siblings are cute, and the angsty feelings that begin to blossom between them are actually pretty adorable。 I'll pick up the next volume if I see it in stores for sure。 。。。more

'A Galaxy Next Door' is a new romance from the author of Sweetness & Lightning, which I thought was adorable, so I picked this up as soon as I saw it。 It's about a young overworked manga artist who gets a talented new assistant。。。 but she's secretly a space princess, and when he pricks himself on her stinger, the two of them are forever bound together! It's as ridiculous and self-indulgent as it sounds, but also committed to its bit in a good way, and all of the characters are enjoyable; I'll ha 'A Galaxy Next Door' is a new romance from the author of Sweetness & Lightning, which I thought was adorable, so I picked this up as soon as I saw it。 It's about a young overworked manga artist who gets a talented new assistant。。。 but she's secretly a space princess, and when he pricks himself on her stinger, the two of them are forever bound together!
