This was one of my favorite books to read as a child。 It is a classic bedtime story with amazing illustrations。 The banana hidden on every page was the highlight of the story for me。

This is a short, cute story that my kids enjoy。 It doesn’t blow me away, but we will probably reread it many times。 This is a good story for younger kids。

I love this author so much

Not just for 3-year-olds (my 9 yr old granddaughter and 8 yr old grandson love "reading" it with their little brother who's three) but even my three month old grandson loves this book。 They love all the bright colors, and as they get older it's a great way to learn their colors。 All four of my grandchildren have loved this book (the two older children love reading it with the little one who's Three。 I didn't like it at first because it had very few words, but with each time I read itI learned to Not just for 3-year-olds (my 9 yr old granddaughter and 8 yr old grandson love "reading" it with their little brother who's three) but even my three month old grandson loves this book。 They love all the bright colors, and as they get older it's a great way to learn their colors。 All four of my grandchildren have loved this book (the two older children love reading it with the little one who's Three。 I didn't like it at first because it had very few words, but with each time I read itI learned to use my imagination I saw more and more in the book that I had missed; each animal has a different color cage, and a different color key to match。 Each picture has things hidden in it that you don't see right away; all the animals have little stuffed animals except the lion who has a bone。 The mouse is in each picture with a banana I didn't realize till the 4th grandchild that he actually cuts the string off the balloon in the first picture to tie on to the banana and drag it behind him for some reason and the balloon goes sailing off into the sky。 A great way to learn colors and shapes and animals it's just a great book。 Like I said my youngest grandchild who's now four months old loves to grab at the pictures he's always trying to grab the gorilla。 It's a simple book but it's very well thought out; the colors are beautiful and it's very good for exercising their retinas (as my Dr daughter's friend the opthalmologist says) they're very intrigued with different colors at this young age。 My youngest grandchild is a boy; he loves the giraffe (green cage) and the hyena (yellow)。 My granddaughter loved the elephant the pink cage and they all love the blue of the Lion I don't know why they're so intrigued with that color blue but they all loved the blue (it reminds me of Peter Max Blue) You can make up as much or as little of the story as you want if it's close to bedtime I make the story short; if we've got a long time we talk about all the things in the picture and how naughty that gorilla is and how when he gets in the house they all sneak in and find a place to sleep and how the mouse drags the banana for a bedtime snack。 It's pretty funny as well as being visually pleasing, not just a pen and ink drawing with dull colors, each page is an explosion of different colors。 。。。more

This monkeys an ahole。 I remember thinking that when I was little too。

Pretty cute。 My kid likes pointing at the animals because we'll do the animal sounds whenever he does, especially for the gorilla。 Pretty cute。 My kid likes pointing at the animals because we'll do the animal sounds whenever he does, especially for the gorilla。 。。。more

Toddler asks for it over and over! Simple story but lots of little things to point out on the pages and plenty of giggles!

My baby daughter loves this book。 At times she has literally roared/growled like the lion after we taught her/she hopefully learned that sound。 A classic。 My wife reads this better than me, doing a cute and hilarious "heh heh heh" laugh on the page where the Zookeeper's wife turns the lights back on and notices the gorilla。My only critiques are that it's not very realistic/inclusive for the Zookeeper's house to be across a narrow grassy area from the zoo。 Most people live further away from zoos。 My baby daughter loves this book。 At times she has literally roared/growled like the lion after we taught her/she hopefully learned that sound。 A classic。 My wife reads this better than me, doing a cute and hilarious "heh heh heh" laugh on the page where the Zookeeper's wife turns the lights back on and notices the gorilla。My only critiques are that it's not very realistic/inclusive for the Zookeeper's house to be across a narrow grassy area from the zoo。 Most people live further away from zoos。 And the Zookeeper is portrayed a bit like "Paul Blart: Mall Cop"。 。。。more

A fun read, but too sophisticated for my 1 year old。

This was one of the first bedtime books I ever truly loved, making my parents read it to me over each night as a very young child。 This book is great for new readers to gain exposure to books and reading, even if this begins with less words。 In this story, the mischevious Gorilla steals the zookeeper's keys while he is saying good night to each animal。 The funny illustrations show a group of animals forming and following behind the zookeeper as the gorilla unlocks each animal after the zookeeper This was one of the first bedtime books I ever truly loved, making my parents read it to me over each night as a very young child。 This book is great for new readers to gain exposure to books and reading, even if this begins with less words。 In this story, the mischevious Gorilla steals the zookeeper's keys while he is saying good night to each animal。 The funny illustrations show a group of animals forming and following behind the zookeeper as the gorilla unlocks each animal after the zookeeper says goodnight。 The illustrations are colorful and detailed and provide a lot of context for the reader。 Overall, I love this bedtime book and think it's so cute。 。。。more

A very inept zookeeper and his longsuffering wife are the victims of an animal home invasion。 It all started with an incredibly clever mouse who egged on a gorilla。 But the gorilla gets the titular role due to his ability to open locked cages。 An excellent child appropriate introduction to buddy heist/crime genres。

Best book ever。 Amazing, spectacular, extraordinary。

Sweet and timeless book for little ones!

This one gave me a good laugh, out loud, in the library。。。 what more can I say? Also, it has good 'lessons' about animal names and showing of colours that could lead to additional discussions (or not) as the readers choose。 The illustrations are solid。And, I'm having a good chuckle now remembering the good laugh that I had, out loud, in the library。。。 This one gave me a good laugh, out loud, in the library。。。 what more can I say? Also, it has good 'lessons' about animal names and showing of colours that could lead to additional discussions (or not) as the readers choose。 The illustrations are solid。And, I'm having a good chuckle now remembering the good laugh that I had, out loud, in the library。。。 。。。more

Super sweet and funny book, the lil mouse is funnier than the gorilla。 So few words but so much can be said along as we read 。 Awesome illustrations with lots of details。

This book is by one of my favorite authors, Peggy Rathmann, who wrote "Goodnight Moon" a story that was a staple of my childhood。 When I saw this book I immediately grabbed it just for the pleasure of reliving my childhood。 It is a very quick and easy read with few words on each page but tells the story of a zookeeper putting all of the animals to bed for the night but the gorilla steals the zookeeper's keys。 When the keeper goes to bed he finds all of the animals had snuck out and snuck in his This book is by one of my favorite authors, Peggy Rathmann, who wrote "Goodnight Moon" a story that was a staple of my childhood。 When I saw this book I immediately grabbed it just for the pleasure of reliving my childhood。 It is a very quick and easy read with few words on each page but tells the story of a zookeeper putting all of the animals to bed for the night but the gorilla steals the zookeeper's keys。 When the keeper goes to bed he finds all of the animals had snuck out and snuck in his bed to sleep with him。 While this is a great story I think this is more of a bedtime story than a story to read in class。 I don't think that this would necessarily be a story that I would put in my classroom library。 This would for sure be a book that I would have in my personal library but I don't see it having any significance in my classroom library。 The illustrations in this book are really important because there are so few words on the pages that the illustrations really tell the story。 I think that Peggy Rathmann has a really unique illustration style that is very distinguishable to her books。 The color scheme is darker and muted to match the nighttime theme but there are pops of color to keep the illustrations alive。 My favorite illustration is when the whole page is dark and there is just a pair of surprised eyes by the zookeeper when he realized that all of the animals are in his bed with him。 。。。more

Goodnight Gorilla was one of my favorite books as a kid。 I remember having this at my grandmas house and would read it every time I would go to bed。 This book will help children relax before going to sleep。 As a child who never wanted to go to bed, this book helped me。

We decided Goodnight Gorilla was a 4 star book。 The drawings were delightful of all the zoo animals, the little mouse especially。 We enjoyed the Zoo Keepers wife matter of factly returning the animals to their zoo beds。 But that sly gorilla。。。

I vaguely remember reading this one when I was younger。 The story is cute and the artwork is fun and colorful。 There are very few words in this one, so it might be better for a child who is old enough to appreciate an embellished reading。 Looking forward to reading this more with my guy when he's a little older and we can interact with the images a little more。 I vaguely remember reading this one when I was younger。 The story is cute and the artwork is fun and colorful。 There are very few words in this one, so it might be better for a child who is old enough to appreciate an embellished reading。 Looking forward to reading this more with my guy when he's a little older and we can interact with the images a little more。 。。。more
