Summary

Unfortunately， I didn't enjoy the second book as much as The Lightning Thief。 The plot wasn't as captivating as in the first book and I thought that there wasn't much going on。 It felt like a slow filler story。However， I did like witnessing how much some of the characters have grown since the first book。 I love how close Percy and Annabeth have gotten， Rick Riordan does a great job at showing how much they care for each other。 I regret that Grover didn't do much in this book， it's a shame becaus Unfortunately， I didn't enjoy the second book as much as The Lightning Thief。 The plot wasn't as captivating as in the first book and I thought that there wasn't much going on。 It felt like a slow filler story。However， I did like witnessing how much some of the characters have grown since the first book。 I love how close Percy and Annabeth have gotten， Rick Riordan does a great job at showing how much they care for each other。 I regret that Grover didn't do much in this book， it's a shame because he has potential， it just isn't used properly。 Luke was a bit more present in this one but I wish that Rick Riordan would show how much of a threat he is instead of just making him threaten the group， I need more of the villain that tricked Percy into following him so that he could unleash a scorpion on him。 。。。more

Honestly， this was not my favourite。 After an absolutely stellar first book， I was tad disappointed by this installment。 The majority of the novel， I just was not as captivated。 I had some minor problems in the beginning with some of the language used （that was very 2006） and after praising the first book for feeling as though it aged-well， I feel the complete opposite about this one。 From the casual use of the r-word in the first chapter to Clarisse using a ship full of confederate soldier to n Honestly， this was not my favourite。 After an absolutely stellar first book， I was tad disappointed by this installment。 The majority of the novel， I just was not as captivated。 I had some minor problems in the beginning with some of the language used （that was very 2006） and after praising the first book for feeling as though it aged-well， I feel the complete opposite about this one。 From the casual use of the r-word in the first chapter to Clarisse using a ship full of confederate soldier to navigate through the sea of monsters or the flippant usage of Hawaiian lore when they were on the Atlantic side of the States？？？ I don't know。 I did enjoy Tyson as a new character and I love how Percy learned to appreciate and love him。 Hermes was a nice addition to the story as well and the ending - I am super interesting to see how this character will affect the series moving forward。 I will definitely be continuing the series， but like I said， the language and dated choices in this one made it a tad disappointing。 。。。more
