Summary

Meddy Chan has been to countless weddings, but she never imagined how her own would turn out。 Now the day has arrived, and she can't wait to marry her college sweetheart, Nathan。 Instead of having Ma and the aunts cater to her wedding, Meddy wants them to enjoy the day as guests。 As a compromise, they find the perfect wedding vendors: a Chinese-Indonesian family-run company just like theirs。 Meddy is hesitant at first, but she hits it off right away with the wedding photographer, Staphanie, who reminds Meddy of herself, down to the unfortunately misspelled name。

Meddy realizes that is where their similarities end, however, when she overhears Staphanie talking about taking out a target。 Horrified, Meddy can't believe Staphanie and her family aren't just like her own, they are The Family--actual mafia, and they're using Meddy's wedding as a chance to conduct shady business。 Her aunties and mother won't let Meddy's wedding ceremony become a murder scene--over their dead bodies--and will do whatever it takes to save her special day, even if it means taking on the mafia。

The aunties are back, fiercer than ever and ready to handle any catastrophe--even the mafia--in this delightful and hilarious sequel by Jesse Q。 Sutanto, author of Dial A for Aunties。

All the stars for this one。 I laughed out loud so many times reading this。 I think I need this one in my own collection。 I’ll never get enough of this family and their antics。

Medde and Nathan are getting married in England。 Of course everything goes wonky。 The Aunties find vendors for the wedding and after Medde and Nathan meets them, they signs off on them。 I'm so glad that Medde and Nathan got back together and now a wedding, I'm giddy。 There's something about Stephanie and her family that makes me suspicious。 Finally I was right about something。 I love the Aunties, they are hilarious。 The narrator is exactly how I imagine Medde sounds。 Her voice is cute。 I hope th Medde and Nathan are getting married in England。 Of course everything goes wonky。 The Aunties find vendors for the wedding and after Medde and Nathan meets them, they signs off on them。 I'm so glad that Medde and Nathan got back together and now a wedding, I'm giddy。 There's something about Stephanie and her family that makes me suspicious。 Finally I was right about something。 I love the Aunties, they are hilarious。 The narrator is exactly how I imagine Medde sounds。 Her voice is cute。 I hope there will be more books in this series。 。。。more

3。5 | This series is ridiculous and hilarious! I get lots of good laughs while reading it which is enjoying! However, I didn’t love the plot of this one as much as book 1。 I also found myself a bit irritated with Meddy lying so much to Nathan。 The ending was good although I called the twist earlier on, but to be fair, I don’t read this for the mystery。 I read it for the entertainment! I’ll certainly continue the series。

Brittany

These books are just so freaking funny。 I loved it so much。

Though I hadn’t read book one, I have to say this was a riotous read。Medeline and Nathan are going to marry and there’s evident concern over how the two families will get on。 Though they are both from immigrant families, they’re clearly very different。 While they both love their respective families, trying to keep both parties happy is tricky。Our first sign of things being a little strange are when Meddy’s family organise a meeting with prospective vendors (there’s a lot about this process that Though I hadn’t read book one, I have to say this was a riotous read。Medeline and Nathan are going to marry and there’s evident concern over how the two families will get on。 Though they are both from immigrant families, they’re clearly very different。 While they both love their respective families, trying to keep both parties happy is tricky。Our first sign of things being a little strange are when Meddy’s family organise a meeting with prospective vendors (there’s a lot about this process that was new to me)。 It should be a fantastic occasion, but the family they’ve arranged to work with are family in the truest sense。 Meddy’s family have to try to do everything they can to stop a mafia-hit ruining the wedding, but without alerting anyone to the problem。What follows quickly goes from slightly odd to downright bizarre。 We have kidnappings, mass druggings and nobody bats an eyelid。 By the end, everything is resolved。Perhaps this would have been more engaging if I’d read book one and knew a little more about the various family members, but it was still good fun。 。。。more

2,5 starsThis is a real hoot, but I think I'm going to quit while I'm ahead (if more books in this series appear)。 The auntie shenanigans kind of got a bit repetitive。 I know the book is meant to be fun, and it definitely was。 But I'm missing some of the characterisation。 Also, I would have walked away from this wedding about halfway through the book if I was Nathan。 2,5 starsThis is a real hoot, but I think I'm going to quit while I'm ahead (if more books in this series appear)。 The auntie shenanigans kind of got a bit repetitive。 I know the book is meant to be fun, and it definitely was。 But I'm missing some of the characterisation。 Also, I would have walked away from this wedding about halfway through the book if I was Nathan。 。。。more

What a bonkers follow up to Dial A For Aunties。 I cackled my way through this, even as had no idea what was going to happen, and happily didn’t try to figure out any plot twists。 I just went with it, and enjoyed the journey。 Look out for the aunties learning British slang, and many Komodo dragons。

3。5 stars。 The first book was completely over the top and it worked, but by about 2/3 of the way into this one, it lost its charm and the craziness just started to get annoying, so rounding down on this one。

Dial A for Aunties was a 5 star read for me。 I’ll give the sequel 3 stars。 I really, really loved the first book and while this one was definitely still entertaining, I felt like a bit of the magic of the first book was missing。I honestly think that the author could have totally moved on from the crime aspect of book one and focused on the culture clash between Meddy & Nathan’s families and still kept the same vibes/humor of the series successfully。 As is, the mafia plot felt a bit forced and al Dial A for Aunties was a 5 star read for me。 I’ll give the sequel 3 stars。 I really, really loved the first book and while this one was definitely still entertaining, I felt like a bit of the magic of the first book was missing。I honestly think that the author could have totally moved on from the crime aspect of book one and focused on the culture clash between Meddy & Nathan’s families and still kept the same vibes/humor of the series successfully。 As is, the mafia plot felt a bit forced and also overcrowded the plot。 It might have even worked if the other family was just working to ruin the wedding as revenge and the aunties had to go around putting out fires and trying to ensure Meddy still had a perfect day, or something。I’d definitely read another book in this series, but I’d read three more if the story pivots away from including crime subplots。 I think after two in a row, suspending belief becomes less fun and more tedious。Let's be friends! 3。5 - Another laugh-out-loud funny book filled with madcap antics。 The beginning was a bit slow and it was a little harder to suspend my disbelief for the events of this book compared to the first, but I was still cracking up the whole time。 Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this novel。 All opinions are, as always, my own。

I really enjoyed Dial A for Aunties, and I am highly disappointed in the sequel。 Dial A was a slightly absurd read in a fun way that I really enjoyed, and this one was just RIDICULOUS。 The plot was exhausting, truly exhausting to the point I didn’t even want to finish。 I guessed the ending at the very beginning of the book。 The aunts shenanigans weren’t fun this time around。 There was allegedly a wedding and only like three scenes with the groom。 Overall, it was a major let down with an absurd ( I really enjoyed Dial A for Aunties, and I am highly disappointed in the sequel。 Dial A was a slightly absurd read in a fun way that I really enjoyed, and this one was just RIDICULOUS。 The plot was exhausting, truly exhausting to the point I didn’t even want to finish。 I guessed the ending at the very beginning of the book。 The aunts shenanigans weren’t fun this time around。 There was allegedly a wedding and only like three scenes with the groom。 Overall, it was a major let down with an absurd (in a bad way) plot。 I would not recommend。 。。。more

Well, there's no doubt I liked the first one better, which probably says more about me。 I will always enjoy a book about a beleaguered wedding planner trying to get her life together more than a book about a bride-t0-be stressing about her overly-elaborate event。 I still enjoyed the aunties in this one but I didn't like all the worrying about pleasing the groom's parents, and making everybody happy。 I just kept wishing Meddy and Nathan had eloped, or planned a smaller, less-stressful wedding。 An Well, there's no doubt I liked the first one better, which probably says more about me。 I will always enjoy a book about a beleaguered wedding planner trying to get her life together more than a book about a bride-t0-be stressing about her overly-elaborate event。 I still enjoyed the aunties in this one but I didn't like all the worrying about pleasing the groom's parents, and making everybody happy。 I just kept wishing Meddy and Nathan had eloped, or planned a smaller, less-stressful wedding。 And I kind of hated it every time Meddy lied to Nathan, which she did a lot。 I guess all the over-the-top craziness right alongside the feelings that come with getting married didn't work for me。 I liked it, but I didn't love it。 。。。more

Last year I loved Dial A For Aunties by Jessie Q。 Sutanto。 For me it over delivered, was so delightful, and I recommended as one of my favorite poolside audiobooks for the summer。 I loved the balance of romance, humor, and nod to the Chinese-Indonesian Aunties。 I thought the author did a good job both expressing the unique bond, pressure, and quirks, without losing sight of the storyline (which drives which?)。 Her author note even speaks to this。 The audiobook narrator Risa Mei, who is herself f Last year I loved Dial A For Aunties by Jessie Q。 Sutanto。 For me it over delivered, was so delightful, and I recommended as one of my favorite poolside audiobooks for the summer。 I loved the balance of romance, humor, and nod to the Chinese-Indonesian Aunties。 I thought the author did a good job both expressing the unique bond, pressure, and quirks, without losing sight of the storyline (which drives which?)。 Her author note even speaks to this。 The audiobook narrator Risa Mei, who is herself first generation Chinese-Indonesian, takes the stories to another level with her intonation and comedic timing。 I have been eagerly waiting for the sequel, Four Aunties and a Wedding。 By all objective measures it’s an enjoyable listen, with the amazing Risa Mei back to narrate。 If it was the first book with no comparison I’d have liked it, noted the narrator, and author for their next book。 My experience is subjective so your mileage may vary。 For me the sequel is missing that critical balance I found in the first book。 The Auntie’s become a caricature, the plot being so madcap I wasn’t invested。 I would have liked more focus on Meddy and Nathan。 Despite being underwhelmed by Aunties 2 I’m hoping for a third book, I’d love to round out this series on a winning chapter! 。。。more

I wanted to like this more, the plot/the wedding and everything with Nathan is an aside in this one in favor of the auntie-antics。
