Summary

100000000000% recommended the audiobook version! It’s a full, and AMAZING, cast, who brings the story to life! I felt like I was listening to a documentary。 Almost rated this 5 stars due to the narration—SO GOOD!

I loved the idea and the story of this, HATED the execution。 I felt that the whole book needed an edit overhaul。 I think it would be a great movie, but as a book it really annoyed me。 I was actively angry for a good third of the book。 I have friends who read it and loved it, but I listened to the audiobook and hated it so maybe that has something to do with it。

*Disclaimer* I listened to this as an audiobook more than I read it as a kindle book。 Reading the reviews, a lot of people struggled to get into this book because of it’s format。 It is written as a transcript of an interview and it is hard to follow。 With this said, I would recommend listening to this on Audible or any other way you listen to audiobooks。 I was lucky enough to borrow this from my library through the Libby app (the UK) and I am ever so grateful。 Onto the book, I absolutely LOVED t *Disclaimer* I listened to this as an audiobook more than I read it as a kindle book。 Reading the reviews, a lot of people struggled to get into this book because of it’s format。 It is written as a transcript of an interview and it is hard to follow。 With this said, I would recommend listening to this on Audible or any other way you listen to audiobooks。 I was lucky enough to borrow this from my library through the Libby app (the UK) and I am ever so grateful。 Onto the book, I absolutely LOVED this book。 I loved all of the characters and I could not get enough of it。 As a 9 hour listen, I can’t quite believe I finished it as quickly as I did but that was because I couldn’t wait to hear the rest of the story。 The story is based on a rock band in the 1970s and their rise to global fame。 Every character has their own story and boy is it dressed up! There was a couple of times that I even gasped as I listened。This story has you on a rollercoaster of emotions, you’ll be laughing, loving and crying too! I rate this book 5 stars! 。。。more

3。5 I liked this book but I didn't love it。 Daisy is someone I love and hate。 Camila is the strongest character and everyone should strive to have Warren's chill in life, this man was fazed by nothing。 3。5 I liked this book but I didn't love it。 Daisy is someone I love and hate。 Camila is the strongest character and everyone should strive to have Warren's chill in life, this man was fazed by nothing。 。。。more

Not a lot of action in this book。 I found the “interview” format of the ENTIRE book a little annoying。 Maybe it would be better in an audio book。 And lots of foreshadowing。 So much so that is was all very anti climatic。

I chose this book for my book club’s March selection as I had been dying to read it for quite some time。 Honestly, I didn’t know much about it beyond the fact that a lot of my friends who read it said it was very reminiscent of the Fleetwood Mac drama in the ’70s。 I was a little surprised to find it was not written in a normal novel format, but as a transcript of interviewing members of the band for a book or documentary。 I found I really loved that Reid decided to proceed this way and honesty, I chose this book for my book club’s March selection as I had been dying to read it for quite some time。 Honestly, I didn’t know much about it beyond the fact that a lot of my friends who read it said it was very reminiscent of the Fleetwood Mac drama in the ’70s。 I was a little surprised to find it was not written in a normal novel format, but as a transcript of interviewing members of the band for a book or documentary。 I found I really loved that Reid decided to proceed this way and honesty, she does such a fantastic job with it that it was still extremely easy to picture the characters and the situations they described throughout the novel。 You still get sucked into the atmosphere and the drama of this band and each character feels fully fleshed out, which is something that could have easily been lost without a novel narration。Men often think they deserve a sticker for treating women like people。The focus of the story is the tense relationship between band founder and lead singer, Billy Dunne, and free spirit singer Daisy Jones。 I don’t want to give away too much of the plot but essentially Daisy is a talented singer-songwriter who joins Billy’s band, The Six after a duet between the two skyrockets The Six onto the charts。 The two constantly butt heads but they’re still drawn to one another。 The problem is Billy is a married father of three and a recovering addict, and Daisy is a reckless, impulsive woman who has a drug and alcohol problem that she seems to have no intention of remedying。I did enjoy the supporting cast as well。 Even while Daisy and Billy become the focal point of the band’s success, and the novel, Reid still lets us into the minds of their friends and bandmates, all of whom have their own issues to deal with。There is very little I disliked about Daisy Jones and the Six。 It was an incredibly fast read because it’s a page-turner in the best way。 I think if I had to pinpoint one thing I was on the fence about, or disliked, it was… well, Daisy。 Yes, she is a very complex, messy character and I appreciate that a lot because perfect women are boring。 But there was so much about her that I disliked and sometimes I felt like Reid was trying a little too hard to make her an “edgy free spirit” with a “I do what I want” attitude。It got to the point where it became obnoxious at times and for the life of me, I couldn’t quite figure out what it was Billy saw in her besides her musical talent。 There are flashes of vulnerability but not enough moments of Daisy letting her guard down so we could get to know her beyond the facade。 And yes, it’s said time and time again that she is who she is, take it or leave it, but it was also very clear there was more to her than what we were able to see。 Thankfully Daisy wasn’t so unlikeable that I ended up feeling disappointed with the book。 I enjoyed it a lot and I loved the ending。 I absolutely recommend this book。4。5 stars 。。。more

I would recommend the audio book, it enhanced the reading a lot with a full cast of characters!

Book review: Daisy Jones and the Six By Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐️⭐️⭐️。5 Certainly a very unique book, written in transcript style。 Initially I found this very difficult to get into - potentially adding to why I found the first section of the book boring and un-relatable。 However as I continued to read I became more drawn in despite not actually being particularly interested in the story。 I do have to commend Reid for her use of characterisation which was second to none。 The characters were messy, f Book review: Daisy Jones and the Six By Taylor Jenkins Reid ⭐️⭐️⭐️。5 Certainly a very unique book, written in transcript style。 Initially I found this very difficult to get into - potentially adding to why I found the first section of the book boring and un-relatable。 However as I continued to read I became more drawn in despite not actually being particularly interested in the story。 I do have to commend Reid for her use of characterisation which was second to none。 The characters were messy, funny, bitter, crazy and passionate。 I am struggling to put my feeling for this book into words as the lengthy chapters and band antics had me bored for the majority of the book。 Yet there was something addictive about it that compelled me to keep reading and by the end I had connected with it so much it was giving me goosebumps! Overall, I’d say a good read。 I understand why people love it but I also wouldn’t read it again。 。。。more

I loved this so much I read it in a day。 My chest hurt through so much of this, feeling the characters heartache, frustration and longing。 This is another book I can add to the ones I wish I was able to read for the first time again!

While I enjoy the style of the book (interview format with multiple perspectives, alternate history and "author"), I found the book boring。 Maybe because I'm not really into rock music or music-making。 Karen was my favourite character in her strong female character way。 Daisy (and most of the other characters) annoyed me because of their carelessness。 While I enjoy the style of the book (interview format with multiple perspectives, alternate history and "author"), I found the book boring。 Maybe because I'm not really into rock music or music-making。 Karen was my favourite character in her strong female character way。 Daisy (and most of the other characters) annoyed me because of their carelessness。 。。。more

And a halfWhile the story isn’t anything groundbreaking, the book’s oral history format and memorable cast of characters transforms it into a standout。 It’s less a book about a rock band than it is a book about relationships。That’s also its pitfall: some of the quotes about love and relationships are shoved in。 I can tell the writer loved these lines and wanted to say them about her characters, so she put it there even if it doesn’t really。。。。belong? Daisy Jones。。。I went into it thinking it would an easy fun read。 Sex, drugs and rock and roll。 But I found a series of love stories。。。or I should say heartaches。 It wasn’t about the music。 And as a former concert junkie, I thought I would be disappointed about that。 But maybe that’s because it’s my anniversary。 I am at a beach with a man I love and cherish。 Each high point of each couples relationship, I knew those feelings。 If I was a poet, I would have made “Aurora” about our love。 But I am no Daisy Jones。。。I went into it thinking it would an easy fun read。 Sex, drugs and rock and roll。 But I found a series of love stories。。。or I should say heartaches。 It wasn’t about the music。 And as a former concert junkie, I thought I would be disappointed about that。 But maybe that’s because it’s my anniversary。 I am at a beach with a man I love and cherish。 Each high point of each couples relationship, I knew those feelings。 If I was a poet, I would have made “Aurora” about our love。 But I am not。 And when I realized the book was a series of interviews, I was hesitant。 I actually almost put it down when it opened with describing the epitome of beauty meaning having big blue eyes。 It made me think that’s what I thought growing up too。 I would never be that beautiful to anyone。 But I kept on because I forgot a 3rd book。 Even As I type this I don’t know why I loved the book so much。 Maybe it was the clever way the author wrote the story the way she did。 Who knew anyone would want to read a 300 page interview。 But it was masterfully done。Daisy Jones and the Six is what you think it will be。 She was what you think she is。 Billy is what you think he is。 In the end it was his love for Camilla that surprised me and her fierce sense of honesty that made her the glue。 。。。more

I enjoyed Daisy Jones & The Six。 Having recently finished another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, I was excited to check out another work by the same author。 Although it's not as good, this gave me some of the same vibes (and weirdly, a similar theme in some character arcs?)。 The format of the book, in which the plot is entirely told through interviews, is unusual and fun, and while I applaud Taylor's creativity, it does take away the opportunity for good narration, which is something I know she do I enjoyed Daisy Jones & The Six。 Having recently finished another book by Taylor Jenkins Reid, I was excited to check out another work by the same author。 Although it's not as good, this gave me some of the same vibes (and weirdly, a similar theme in some character arcs?)。 The format of the book, in which the plot is entirely told through interviews, is unusual and fun, and while I applaud Taylor's creativity, it does take away the opportunity for good narration, which is something I know she does well。 I definitely felt like some moments in the book would have benefited from having it。 However, the cast of characters was hard to connect with。 Billy and Daisy are flawed protagonists, and that's usually a good thing, but here I found it difficult to understand where they were coming from sometimes。 Weirdly, I think I understand Graham and Karen better than them and they had a lot less page time。 The large number of side characters that added little was another factor I didn't particularly love。 Overall, this is a good book and I'm happy I read it but I don't think it's anything outstanding。 。。。more

Boy, I tore right through this one。 I couldn't help myself, though。 The format and the content make it hard to put down。 I enjoyed it for the same reason I loved the movie Almost Famous -- because I felt like a fly on the wall for this crazy story about the rise and fall of a fictional 1970s rock band。 Because this book was literally told from the perspective of the people who were there for the ride, it is full of heart and passion。 The story felt very authentic。There were points when I felt li Boy, I tore right through this one。 I couldn't help myself, though。 The format and the content make it hard to put down。 I enjoyed it for the same reason I loved the movie Almost Famous -- because I felt like a fly on the wall for this crazy story about the rise and fall of a fictional 1970s rock band。 Because this book was literally told from the perspective of the people who were there for the ride, it is full of heart and passion。 The story felt very authentic。There were points when I felt like the oral history style was a bit of a stretch, because who in the world is going to remember everything that everyone said, word for word, almost 40 years later?
