Shipwrecked on a remote, wild island, Robot Roz learned from the unwelcoming animal inhabitants and adapted to her surroundings--but can she survive the challenges of the civilized world and find her way home to Brightbill and the island?
An enjoyable, compassionate read。 The seven year old and I are very invested in Roz and her adventures。 This is the perfect read aloud at bedtime for us- short chapters, endearing characters, nature adventures and just the right balance of suspense and narrative descriptions。 Upon finishing this novel my sidekick asked if I could do some research and see if it’s been made into a movie。 Will be on the lookout for any other adventures of Roz and Brightbill。
Brenda Wright,
Just a perfect, perfect book for young readers and adults
dbt,
Another corker。 I would join a four day queue to enter the wild robot world experience like a theme park。
Tricia Knutson,
We read this as a family read aloud! It was such a wonderful story。 My kids begged to read more every time we stopped for the day!
Traci,
As charming as the first one。 :)
Brenda,
This was cute。 Definitely for early middle grade readers (like 3rd, 4th grade tops), so I'm not surprised it's not getting checked out at the middle school where I work。 The story and the writing are very young, so even for a struggling older reader, I probably wouldn't suggest this。 This was cute。 Definitely for early middle grade readers (like 3rd, 4th grade tops), so I'm not surprised it's not getting checked out at the middle school where I work。 The story and the writing are very young, so even for a struggling older reader, I probably wouldn't suggest this。 。。。more

Mike,
After reading The Wild Robot, we moved onto this book for our nighttime reading。 My daughter really like the original, so I had high hopes for this sequel。Roz begins the story by being recommissioned and sent to work on a farm。 Little do the creators, and other humans in the story know, but Roz isn't like the other robots。 Our robot spends some time on the farm, but dreams of returning to her island。 It isn't until Brightbill arrives at the farm, that Roz decides she must break free。The story is After reading The Wild Robot, we moved onto this book for our nighttime reading。 My daughter really like the original, so I had high hopes for this sequel。Roz begins the story by being recommissioned and sent to work on a farm。 Little do the creators, and other humans in the story know, but Roz isn't like the other robots。 Our robot spends some time on the farm, but dreams of returning to her island。 It isn't until Brightbill arrives at the farm, that Roz decides she must break free。The story is very similar to the original as we follow Roz through her adventures。 She meets various other creatures, and a few humans, and runs into a lot of tough situations along the way。 The chapters are very short, usually 2 - 4 pages, which makes it a perfect bedtime story。 Another solid 4* book。If you liked The Wild Robot, then you will also enjoy The Wild Robot Escapes。 。。。more

Jacki,
Equally as good as the first book, but different。 I really liked the first half of the book with Roz’s life on Hilltop Farm, with Jaya and Jad and all of the cows。 I knew there was going to be a big internal conflict in Roz as to what she should do, but the children were great guides in the right direction。Roz encountered RECOs, wolves, tornadoes, airships, and a lot of other obstacles on her way to get back home to the island in the second half of the book。 While I wasn’t quite sure where this Equally as good as the first book, but different。 I really liked the first half of the book with Roz’s life on Hilltop Farm, with Jaya and Jad and all of the cows。 I knew there was going to be a big internal conflict in Roz as to what she should do, but the children were great guides in the right direction。Roz encountered RECOs, wolves, tornadoes, airships, and a lot of other obstacles on her way to get back home to the island in the second half of the book。 While I wasn’t quite sure where this part was always going, by the end it made sense to me how the story was supposed to end。 😊Both books were great! 。。。more
Lindsay,
I loved seeing Roz’ story continue! It was so fun seeing her on a farm ❤️ and I admit I teared up a little bit at the reunion chapter 😭 this is such a sweet story and I loved every minute of it。

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Great book。 My six year old really enjoyed it。 There were parts that were a bit too detailed I think for him and he'd lose focus。 He'd look up and ask me if Brightbill was with his mom yet or still。 But it was a great adventure and he was kinda sad it was over and a picture book the next night at bedtime did not provide him the same satisfaction。 Great book。 My six year old really enjoyed it。 There were parts that were a bit too detailed I think for him and he'd lose focus。 He'd look up and ask me if Brightbill was with his mom yet or still。 But it was a great adventure and he was kinda sad it was over and a picture book the next night at bedtime did not provide him the same satisfaction。 。。。more
Christina,
This was a heartwarming story about a robot who wants to find her way back to her home, the Island, and her son, Brightbill。 I recommend reading this because it is a nice tale, and it is a fun read!
Christopher,
(Combined review for book #1 and #2)Overall, I ended up respecting the Wild Robot books more than I enjoyed them。 Brown’s quiet, plodding writing style and stylized, mesmerizing illustrations were impressive。 The plot is well-crafted and unique, and they captured my son’s imagination。 On the cons side, the plot was sluggish at times, and there isn’t much for an adult to sink their teeth into (besides simply admire Brown’s craft)。 From a moral, soul food perspective, the books are okay, though th (Combined review for book #1 and #2)Overall, I ended up respecting the Wild Robot books more than I enjoyed them。 Brown’s quiet, plodding writing style and stylized, mesmerizing illustrations were impressive。 The plot is well-crafted and unique, and they captured my son’s imagination。 On the cons side, the plot was sluggish at times, and there isn’t much for an adult to sink their teeth into (besides simply admire Brown’s craft)。 From a moral, soul food perspective, the books are okay, though they don't have any special virtues and do include the light tang of modern ideals (feminism, partial pacifism, life is a choose-your-own-adventure-story, etc。)。 Part of the reason I didn't find this more problematic is that the books display a seemingly studied inoffensiveness, where interesting and potentially hot questions are explicitly raised, but generally left unanswered in any significant way。 。。。more
Samantha Raising Wildflowers,
We loved this book! Super easy for my girls to follow and they loved the story line。 The chapters are short and lots of illustrations so that makes it great for an early was aloud。 I enjoyed the story so much, I would have loved reading it even without the kids。 I thought the sequel was just as adventurous and amazing as the first book。 Read aloud at 3。
Libni Gonzalez,
The robot is the cutest character I enjoyed watching her try to escape and live in a world without her parents I liked both of the books
Heather Tribe,
I, the adult, LOVED this book! I think it is better than the first! But it's not my opinion that matters。。。my 7-year old LOVED it! (However, he is loyal to the first in the series and says they are both equally great)。It has everything that makes a great story: heart, nail-biting adventure, intelligence and a wonderful conclusion! Odette Vega,
I read this book a really long time ago, but I remember that after reading the first book I assumed that this one would be really good as well, but I was kinda dissappointed。

I enjoyed this duology with 4th/5th grade students。 It provided just the right amount of reading in its short chapters to not overwhelm my students and at a reading level that provided some challenges but not so many that they were discouraged。 We loved the drawings and making predictions, discussing foreshadowing, etc。 Our one major issue was that some of the problems were swiftly solved not leaving us in torment for long, with solutions that were a bit too convenient or unbelievable…that’s rig I enjoyed this duology with 4th/5th grade students。 It provided just the right amount of reading in its short chapters to not overwhelm my students and at a reading level that provided some challenges but not so many that they were discouraged。 We loved the drawings and making predictions, discussing foreshadowing, etc。 Our one major issue was that some of the problems were swiftly solved not leaving us in torment for long, with solutions that were a bit too convenient or unbelievable…that’s right whale, we are looking at you! 。。。more
