Daayum!! What an opening。 Epic gross and totally unexpected!! Wtf just happened right there 😂 NEED TO READ! Omega is sick。 That may have been one of the best first chapters of all her books。 Definitely shocking。 I love evil vs good so this gets 5 stars。 Ericka and Balz- so cute they are just the sweetest couple。 Balthazar just tugs at my heart strings。 His sadness over what Devina took from him makes me want to kill her。 Ericka is just the best female for him。 They make cutest couple 😊 Balz and Daayum!! I hate her she took from him his virginity and now he feels worthless for his would be mate。 I’m going to kill her。 Balz and Lassiter hugging at the end… I just can’t even 😢 He is at his end to step in and save people。 No more bargains so Vampires are left defenseless。 He warns Vishous not to get involved。 This is messed up。 LASH- what in the f*** !?!? What the hell just happened right there? LIke for real。 His summons and appperance was absolutely a JR Ward moment right there! I need to revamp that。 I was actually enthralled by him。 What the hell just what the… I can’t get over it。 EPIC。 Rahvyn- I love her。 Lassiter told V she is more powerful than the scribe virgin。 Scarey stuff right there。 She’s sweet and thinks she doesn’t belong anywhere。 I think A fallen Angel possibly? Not sure。 Poor Nate he’s in love with her。 She saves him brings him back to life。 Nate is now never going to die。 Great storyline here can’t wait to see what happens。 Devina- That bitch needs to die。 I hate her。 Vishous- never ceases to amaze me as always a savior。JR Ward- She is the shit。 All I can say is wow! This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 3。5 stars。 This one is complicated for me。 How much you like it depends on what your expectations are for a main BDB book and an author that charges $13 for an ebook (Ward is the most expensive author I buy)。 Spoilers below。The good news is that overall this is a much better book than Lover Unveiled or The Jackal and Erika is much more likable than Nyx or Mae。 Vishous seems back to his normal self rather than acting like a jealous teenage girl in The Wolf。 There were some emotional moments and a 3。5 stars。 This one is complicated for me。 How much you like it depends on what your expectations are for a main BDB book and an author that charges $13 for an ebook (Ward is the most expensive author I buy)。 Spoilers below。The good news is that overall this is a much better book than Lover Unveiled or The Jackal and Erika is much more likable than Nyx or Mae。 Vishous seems back to his normal self rather than acting like a jealous teenage girl in The Wolf。 There were some emotional moments and a fair amount of humor。 The bad news is that Erika is a human and I’m over it。 If you’re creating a world where human mates can’t be turned, stop introducing so many humans。 These males are killing off the race that they say they’re trying to save。 Here come the expectations…。 This is the shortest main book since Dark Lover。 It’s barely over 400 pages long。 There is absolutely no backstory on Balthazar。 I don’t know a single thing about Balz that I didn’t already know。 What was his family life like? Why did he leave them as a pretrans to go with Syn? Why is he a thief that robs from the rich and gives it to the poor? Why did he join the Bloodletter’s camp? How did he and Syn meet up with their cousin Syphon? We saw a few moments with Syphon but where was Syn? After all Balz did for him, Syn is nowhere to be found when Balz needs him。 Knowing Ward has at least three more BDB related books coming out this year, I feel like she threw this together just to get out the minimum number of pages she could get away with and put very little thought into who Balthazar is and what his background is。 She had plenty of pages left to work with if she had wanted to。 As someone who has been interested in the Bastards since day one, I’m beyond disappointed。 Where is that Scottish brogue that they all began with? You can’t tell me that these 300 year old males have lost their accents and completely changed the way they speak after a few months living in the mansion。 It comes down to laziness and not wanting to take the time to write him as his true self because she has too many other books to write。 Sorry, but that is my opinion。 As I said, for a $13 ebook and an author that had an amazing first 6-8 books, this is really disappointing and uninspired。 。。。more

Reading a new BDB book feels like seeing your family for the first time after coming home from an extended trip; comforting, nolstalgic and happy。

Honestly, this reminded me of the older books! They were so good! The romance was on point, the suspense and the DRAMA! Lol。 It was wonderful! And I couldn’t put the book down。 Now gah damn, why dude have to come back?!?! And UMMMMMMMMM I wonder how J&X are going to feel about bro??? And all the new love interests。 MAN。

This book was okay, there’s a lot happening , some good stuff but not enough of any of it to make it 5 stars 。 This is a book , thats a Segway for the next book, not a full story of Balthazar and Erika, I missed getting to know them 。

What I thought was so interesting about this one was how many old foes come back again。 The Brothers know something is up, but they can't put their finger on it, but are very unsettled and even put out the danger signal at one time。 The little they do learn just causes that unease to ramp up。I was glad with how things ended for Balthazar and Erika, but they really went through it to get there。 Part of me wishes Erika would give up her human life, I really want her and Butch to talk shop and for What I thought was so interesting about this one was how many old foes come back again。 The Brothers know something is up, but they can't put their finger on it, but are very unsettled and even put out the danger signal at one time。 The little they do learn just causes that unease to ramp up。I was glad with how things ended for Balthazar and Erika, but they really went through it to get there。 Part of me wishes Erika would give up her human life, I really want her and Butch to talk shop and for Erika to have those clicking moments with things she's seen at the police department but now know there is more out there。I feel really bad for Lasiter。 He gave up so much when he took one for the team and things really don't look good for him。Overall things don't look good for many in Caldwell, it will be interesting to see where things go from here。 。。。more

Another crazy world building installment for the BDB series。 I still love the first 12 or so books the most but I've been so excited by the moves Ward has been making with the last few。 She's laid out quite a few plot lines very quickly and while it can be a little frustrating to not get all the information all at once, I trust she's working up to something huge in Lassiter's book next year。 And I'm more than willing to sit and wait to find out what that something is。 My only issue is that I rea Another crazy world building installment for the BDB series。 I still love the first 12 or so books the most but I've been so excited by the moves Ward has been making with the last few。 She's laid out quite a few plot lines very quickly and while it can be a little frustrating to not get all the information all at once, I trust she's working up to something huge in Lassiter's book next year。 And I'm more than willing to sit and wait to find out what that something is。 My only issue is that I really wanted to see more of the brothers and other fighters themselves。 Aside from Vishous, all the other appearances we got from them felt like tiny little cameos in comparison to what we've gotten in the past。 I understand it's kind of the nature of the series though, because we can't follow every single character every single time。 We've got to share the love (and the page time) with everybody。 I just love the early cast so much, I always feel a little let down when I don't get to see them in new installments。 But that's what re-reads are for and I know they'll be back eventually。 That being said, I was really pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Balthazar and Erika as a couple, and also how much I liked Nate。 I stay worried about that poor guy。 Fingers crossed he gets his happy ending down the line。 And holy sh*t (view spoiler)[ Lash and Devina! I knew it was coming but still。 Really afraid/excited to see how that's gonna go。 One thing I desperately need is some more information on how the Brotherhood took his sudden reappearance, particularly JM, Xhex and Qhuinn。 Their history is deep and I don't like the idea of that all being brushed over。 Just some sort of acknowledgement would be great。 I'll cross my fingers for that too。 (hide spoiler)] Definitely much more enjoyable than the last installment (Lover Unveiled), which also had great world building, but the characters were harder to connect with。 Overall I really liked this book, and I think long standing fans of the series will too。 It can be frustrating to watch the series and characters change and evolve, but it's almost always worth it in the long run。 Now begins the long wait for Lassiter。 。。。more

J。R。 Ward is back with another brilliantly written Black Daggar Brotherhood read。 I have been a huge fan of this series since the beginning, and this one gave me all the entertainment that I knew it would。 Each character and scenarios were well thought out, and they brought the book to life。 Every book in this series just keeps getting better。

BDB 20 does NOT disappoint This installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood has all the elements of a JR Ward classic: star-(and species!) crossed lovers, Lassiter, old enemies, twists and turns, beloved Brothers appearing integral to the story, and throughout it all there’s real feeling and depth。 It was a joy to read, even with some nail biting, but I have zero complaints。 I won’t spoil anything here, but I will predict that with the next book in the series will absolutely upend everything, an BDB 20 does NOT disappoint This installment of the Black Dagger Brotherhood has all the elements of a JR Ward classic: star-(and species!) crossed lovers, Lassiter, old enemies, twists and turns, beloved Brothers appearing integral to the story, and throughout it all there’s real feeling and depth。 It was a joy to read, even with some nail biting, but I have zero complaints。 I won’t spoil anything here, but I will predict that with the next book in the series will absolutely upend everything, and Ms Ward will destroy us metaphorically with emotion before giving us a satisfying conclusion-for-now。 。。。more

The original Brothers do have some cameos and that is always welcome in this world。 They bring relief from the darker, heavier material in this story, and that's a very good thing。 They are the heart and soul of this series, and I sit up and take notice when they appear on the pages。 Fan favorite Lassiter contributes to this story as well。 I would recommend reading the previous books in the series before tackling this one for maximum enjoyment of the storylines, but there is quite a bit of rehashing and reviewing if you are behind in the series。 You can easily catch on to what is going on if you are familiar with the world。 Overall, Lover Arisen is what I expected -- a tense, thrilling ride in the Black Dagger Brotherhood world of Caldwell New York。 There were some slow spots at the start but there were also moments of nail biting and excitement in the second half。 Told from multiple points of view, the story in this installment just makes this world richer and more interesting as the book progresses。 I enjoyed this story and I was very happy to spend time in this world。 。。。more

Lover Arisen continues the Black Dagger Brotherhood series with another great installment! Balthazar is such a fascinating character! He is possessed by the demon Devina so things aren't exactly easy for him。 And then there is human cop, Erika。The story is totally action packed。 It gave me the old school BDB vibes that I really loved。 But, I am not gonna lie-this book ends in a not satisfying way so be forewarned。 Do I think it is the set up for more? Sure。 But this ending hurt like a bitch。Love Lover Arisen continues the Black Dagger Brotherhood series with another great installment! Balthazar is such a fascinating character! But even with that, I was able to follow the story。 My fave part of this book was actually Balthazar! I think he might be my favorite of them all! I love how he was so willing to just move out the mansion and he wasn’t afraid to say how he felt to Erika。 The Black Dagger Brotherhood has been a consistent favorite of mine throughout the years and Lover Arisen only proved why。 *ARC provided from publisherCheck out my IG! @runeofash 。。。more

It’s definitely setting up for Lassiter’s book in 2023 and I can’t wait, especially after everything he went thru here。 He is always sacrificing himself for the brothers, the species and this one was especially heartbreaking。 Thank you to Gallery Books and NetGalley for an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review, all thoughts are my own。 Lover Arisen publishes April 5, 2022。 。。。more
