This book rhymes which is something I like in a potential read aloud book。 It touches on the feeling of guilt which is a valuable lesson for students of any age。 It shows how empathy can be turned into simple acts of kindness for anyone who may need it。 This story teaches students what kindness is。 I would say that this is a must read in a classroom because it teaches students the effects of bullying and how you can make things right and treat people well。 This book would be best for grades 2-4。 This book rhymes which is something I like in a potential read aloud book。 It touches on the feeling of guilt which is a valuable lesson for students of any age。 It shows how empathy can be turned into simple acts of kindness for anyone who may need it。 This story teaches students what kindness is。 I would say that this is a must read in a classroom because it teaches students the effects of bullying and how you can make things right and treat people well。 This book would be best for grades 2-4。 。。。more

I enjoyed reading this novel, truly。 It is about a boy who discovers that it is a much greater feeling to be kind to others than being a bully。 In rhymes, the story is told, and the rhyming words are bold, making it easy for children to relate to them。 Colorful and enlightening are the illustrations。 For children, this is a great way to learn about intentional kindness。 There are suggested acts of kindness at the end of the book, such as keeping the door open for others or giving the bus driver I enjoyed reading this novel, truly。 It is about a boy who discovers that it is a much greater feeling to be kind to others than being a bully。 In rhymes, the story is told, and the rhyming words are bold, making it easy for children to relate to them。 Colorful and enlightening are the illustrations。 For children, this is a great way to learn about intentional kindness。 There are suggested acts of kindness at the end of the book, such as keeping the door open for others or giving the bus driver a candy bar。 This teaches kids about kindness and behaving without wanting anything in return, which today seems to be an area of concern。 I would like to use this book as a read-aloud and explore any other forms of displaying kindness in a class group discussion。 。。。more

What a great book to have in a classroom for read aloud! There is a little rhyme that makes this fun to read。 This book shows a numerous ways to be kind and show empathy in the classroom, and everyday life。 The boy in the story tells all the ways he goes about life to be kind and habits that were not kind that her learned to not do anymore。 This would be great to share with any age kids as a little reminder of how important it is to show empathy to others。 At the end of this story there is also What a great book to have in a classroom for read aloud! This would be a wonderful book to read aloud to a class。 It teaches about empathy, kindness, and compassion。 But most importantly, it teaches that you are not defined by your "off" days。 Ortega did an amazing job capturing the idea that we are not perfect and continuously learning from our past mistakes。 This would be a wonderful book to read aloud to a class。 It teaches about empathy, kindness, and compassion。 But most importantly, it teaches that you are not defined by your "off" days。 Ortega did an amazing job capturing the idea that we are not perfect and continuously learning from our past mistakes。 。。。more

Some books are entertaining, some books are better tools, but this book was both。 This book created a great conversation with my family。 Kindness is a superpower because if practiced, you can learn to control situations so that you are the spark that creates positive energy and minimizes or can neutralize negative energy。 Understanding this is a tool for any age but, adding the kindness tool as a kid could become a gamechanger。 Lucas realized bridges are better built, not burning。 Then, the rhym Some books are entertaining, some books are better tools, but this book was both。 This book created a great conversation with my family。 Kindness is a superpower because if practiced, you can learn to control situations so that you are the spark that creates positive energy and minimizes or can neutralize negative energy。 Understanding this is a tool for any age but, adding the kindness tool as a kid could become a gamechanger。 Lucas realized bridges are better built, not burning。 Then, the rhyming patterns kept this book fun and even cool。 I would definitely recommend this book。 。。。more

This book was such a fun and cute way to teach kids to be kind to others and that it will make you feel good when you do nice things for other people。 I would probably read this book aloud to my class。 Teaching kids how to be empathetic and compassionate towards others is such a precious gift that need to be instilled at a young age。

A book with a good message for EYFS/KS1。 I particularly liked the list of suggestions for "Simple Acts of Kindness" at the end (like "donate old books" and "clean up your room without being asked"!) I think this book is a great way to remind students to be kind! Stories like these can be useful in cultivating a positive classroom environment and setting expectations regarding classroom behavior。 I like the main message that kindness can occur everyday through small actions!

Such a wonderfully written book! The author wants the readers to understand its important to be kind and nice。 I love how the author used poetry, rhyming words to make the story fun and interesting。 The illustrations are colorful and matched the story perfectly。 Children do not understand that teasing hurts others feelings unless someone tells them。 Often some children do not get that guidance, however, this book does a great job explaining it。

In this book, Lucas learns that kindness is cool! He realizes that teasing his friend was very rude and that instead he should be kind。 He then goes on to show kindness too many people and explains how it makes him happy to see others happy。 I liked the illustrations in this book。 They were interesting but also simple enough that they were not overwhelming to a child。 I also liked how Lucas was not perfect, since he teased his friend, but he learned from his mistake。 The book flowed very nicely In this book, Lucas learns that kindness is cool! From the very first page, this book is different from other children's books about kindness。 The main character is a little boy having a bad day, who acts out by teasing his friend。 His mother takes the time to explain why this is wrong, leading to a child-friendly explanation of what it means to be kind。 The illustrations are adorable but it's the text that is the star here for me。 Rhyming couplets make this book rhythmic, but the rhymes never seem forced。 The book ends with a bingo-card of sim From the very first page, this book is different from other children's books about kindness。 The main character is a little boy having a bad day, who acts out by teasing his friend。 His mother takes the time to explain why this is wrong, leading to a child-friendly explanation of what it means to be kind。 The illustrations are adorable but it's the text that is the star here for me。 Rhyming couplets make this book rhythmic, but the rhymes never seem forced。 The book ends with a bingo-card of simple kindness ideas that any age can get in on。 Need to get a copy of this book for the kiddos in my life! 。。。more

I was invited to review this book, and so happy that I did。 This book had so many elements that are just wonderful。Firstly, the overarching premise is kindness, and that it is (or should be) our super strength! Although we certainly see this message around us all the time, I was wondering how it would be explored in a fresh new way? I was so pleasantly surprised that every act of kind was an achievable, realistic way that children could express the concept of 'being kind'。 It showed them 'how' and 'what' to do, which for little kids, isn't always easy。 However, it also opens the discussion to the sometimes uncomfortable topic of 'have I been unkind to others?' Developing that understanding, recognising it and then finding the capacity to change it is an important skill; this book helps develop this。 I think my favourite line by far "So I decided then and there, without any warning: that I will become kind in the morning。" The idea that kindness is a conscious choice, even if you haven't perhaps been kind, you can change how you think and how you act。 It is an incredibly positive message, and not one that should only be isolated to children, its very relevant for everyone。 There is also a really lovely 'Acts of Kindness' page at the the end of the book。 A really nice extension activity that can follow on from reading the book。 This could be a great reading spark for a classroom or library activity。 It moves from reading to doing which is integral element to the story。 From a literacy standpoint, the rhyming pattern and language is great。 There's certainly spelling and literacy activities that can be based around sight words but also extended language; the inclusion of some more challenging language not only lifts the text but also presents a straightforwardness to the message。 Overall this book left me smiling and wanting to do something kind for someone else。 I think we can and should all walk away from this story with the belief that kindness IS a superpower, and its our job to use it for good。 。。。more
