I can’t… figure out how I feel about the end。 But what I DO feel is that this series is something of a masterpiece。 I agree that the second two books seem very separate from the first two。 I loved the first two SO much， especially because they didn’t feel terribly serious， they were more fun than anything else。 The second two change all of that and then some， including a whole new cast of （still very loveable） characters。 But you mourn the loss of the first half the entire time you’re in the sec I can’t… figure out how I feel about the end。 But what I DO feel is that this series is something of a masterpiece。 I agree that the second two books seem very separate from the first two。 I loved the first two SO much， especially because they didn’t feel terribly serious， they were more fun than anything else。 The second two change all of that and then some， including a whole new cast of （still very loveable） characters。 But you mourn the loss of the first half the entire time you’re in the second。 That said， I just think she did incredibly。 The writing is unique， fantastic， fun， and intriguing the entire way through。 The world building is like NOTHING I’ve ever read before， so incredibly imaginative。 And she made it all make sense， without it seeming strange or made up。 She puts her main characters *through* it and doesn’t give them that perfect ending that I crave for every story I experience。 Because of that， I don’t want to give five stars。 I don’t just want better for them， I want *best*。 Especially after everything they go through。 And yes， I very much wanted more of the O&T relationship， much more of their romance。 But it’s personal preference in the end。 I think it could have been in the book and still been just as fantastic， if not better， but I wasn’t the storyteller and my tastes aren’t always the same as the author’s。 It’s tough for me to accept。 But I will， because she delivered a fantastic story in the end。 Everything just fell exactly the way she foreshadowed it to fall from the start， without feeling wrong or overdone。 Imo。 I know others won’t agree。 And yes， the end reminded me VERY much of the end of His Dark Materials， so I wasn’t surprised at all to learn the author was influenced by that series。 Maybe also because I’ve become so used to bad or unimaginative world building， stories told with an overdone prose and tired cliches of all kinds， I just found this book， this series， to be such a relief。 A very very large part of me hopes she isn’t finished， though。 Bring us another couple books with Ophelia and Thorn！ That would make it perfect。 。。。more

Una saga coinvolgente fino all’ultima parola。Non potrò mai dire abbastanza quanto mi è piaciuta: dalla trama alla lettura， dai tratti dei personaggi alle descrizioni delle situazioni。 Ad ogni riga mi stupivo delle novità che incontravo: le parole che hanno arricchito il mio vocabolario， la fantasia dell’autrice che regalava scene impreviste e particolari， i pensieri ed i valori profondi dei personaggi， l’uno diverso dall’altro ma tutti fondamentali。Sono state settimane di immaginazione illimitat Una saga coinvolgente fino all’ultima parola。Non potrò mai dire abbastanza quanto mi è piaciuta: dalla trama alla lettura， dai tratti dei personaggi alle descrizioni delle situazioni。 Ad ogni riga mi stupivo delle novità che incontravo: le parole che hanno arricchito il mio vocabolario， la fantasia dell’autrice che regalava scene impreviste e particolari， i pensieri ed i valori profondi dei personaggi， l’uno diverso dall’altro ma tutti fondamentali。Sono state settimane di immaginazione illimitata， sogni incredibili， sonni piacevoli ed un desiderio incontenibile di proseguire a sfogliare le pagine。Il cambiamento dei personaggi， sia individuale sia nelle relazioni， e la loro descrizione progressivamente sempre più articolata e particolareggiata， sono stati spunti per profonde riflessioni su chi sono， chi voglio e chi posso diventare。Terminata la lettura dei 4 volumi （alle 4 del mattino perché non riuscivo a riaddormentarmi） sono rimasta piacevolmente soddisfatta: la conclusione mi è sembrata perfetta， indefinita ma esaustiva della storia。 Mi si sono inumiditi gli occhi。Credo di aver imparato molto， o almeno di aver trovato dei punti da cui partire per elaborare meglio l’insegnamento ricevuto quando sarà giunto il momento:- è importante relazionarsi con gli altri， dandoci il tempo di scoprirci;- abbiamo in mano il nostro destino， anche quando sembra essere già stato scritto; non si può tornare indietro ma si può andare avanti;- *“Tutto arriva al momento giusto a ci sa attendere”*- *“L’unico vero sbaglio è quello che non correggiamo”*- bisogna prendere consapevolezza dei propri errori e difetti， accettandoli e indagandoli per poter ricostruire la propria identità， per quanto possa essere doloroso il cambiamento;- a volte e necessario ascoltarsi profondamente， guardandosi come per la prima volta， e solo così conoscersi per davvero;- ciò che siamo， come ci sentiamo， influenza tutto ciò che ci circonda;- non si starà sempre bene， ci saranno momenti di difficoltà e tristezza， ma anch’essi sono importanti e vanno valorizzati;- l’accettazione di noi stessi passa anche attraverso l’accettazione degli altri e degli altri nei nostri confronti; non è necessario ostinarsi a dimostrare il proprio valore;- troviamo la nostra forza quando comprendiamo come usarla;- quando si è onesti verso se stessi e si libera la propria essenza dalla prigione dei propri vizi， allora si può cambiare il mondo;- nulla è scontato， banale， di poco conto; tutto è prezioso， basta guardarlo da un altro punto di vista， con sincero interesse。Ho imparato tutto questo。 *Anche un po’ di più。* 。。。more
