I’m not usually a fan of Isabelle Allende’s dispassionate writing style， but here it really works well。 The hundred years Violetta has lived are full ofIncident， she led an interesting life， and while I’m not always convinced that the things she shares are really what she would write to her grandson， it’s easy to imagine her being carried away as she reminisces。While it’s a book about an imaginary life in an imaginary county， this is based enough in reality to make it a believable history of a S I’m not usually a fan of Isabelle Allende’s dispassionate writing style， but here it really works well。 The hundred years Violetta has lived are full ofIncident， she led an interesting life， and while I’m not always convinced that the things she shares are really what she would write to her grandson， it’s easy to imagine her being carried away as she reminisces。While it’s a book about an imaginary life in an imaginary county， this is based enough in reality to make it a believable history of a South American country over the last hundred years。Not a great book for emotional engagement， but a really well written history of an interesting life。 。。。more

I listened to the Spanish version of this book in Audible。 I thought the idea of life from the perspective of a 100 year old woman would be more interesting。 It has some good moments， but I feel that if you read Long Petal of the Sea and The Soul of a Woman this book has many similarities

I was excited for this book。 I've been wanting to try out Isabel Allende for a while now， and I liked the idea of taking a 100 year journey through history from the lens of one woman's experiences。 I wanted to like it but it was just "meh" for me。 I didn't feel invested in the story or the characters at all。 The whole thing felt sort of detached and emotionless。 I was excited for this book。 I've been wanting to try out Isabel Allende for a while now， and I liked the idea of taking a 100 year journey through history from the lens of one woman's experiences。 I wanted to like it but it was just "meh" for me。 I didn't feel invested in the story or the characters at all。 The whole thing felt sort of detached and emotionless。 。。。more

per non seguire i suoi passi ho vissuto ignorando orgogliosamente i disturbi che mi sono toccati。 Così ho capito che， in generale， passano da soli se li tratto con indifferenza e aspetto che la natura faccia il suo corso。" 👍🏻Il romanzo è diviso in 4 parti più。。。 un quinto capitolo。- Prima parte。 L’esilio （1920 – 1940）Quello che più mi ha colpito， in positivo， è la famiglia di Violeta， dal padre Arsenio del Valle al fratello José Antonio ❤️ da Torito alle zie Pía e Pilar 😊 e comunque sono morta dal ridere ad immaginare i capricci di Violeta， viziata come poche。。。 che si butta a terra a faccia in giù， rantolando quasi fosse posseduta。。。 solo per ottenere quello che voleva 😂😂😂Succedono tante altre cose drammatiche， con il finale trasferimento di "quasi" tutta la famiglia， nella fattoria dei Rivas， il famoso esilio！Seconda parte。 La passione （1940 – 1960）Violeta cresce ed entra nella sua vita Fabian Schimdt-Engler。。。 Il veterinario， che lei tratta come un parente lontano， anche poco interessante 😬Violeta: "Non mi resi conto del suo vaneggiamento sentimentale fino a molto tempo dopo。。。" 😂😂E comunque， dopo cinque lunghi anni di fidanzamento， nel 1945， si sposano。Intanto le condizioni di salute della madre si aggravano sempre più。。。 così i sei fratelli del Valle si riuniscono per la prima volta dopo dieci anni e si ritrovano come sconosciuti: "L’affetto si coltiva， Camilo， bisogna annaffiarlo come una pianta， e invece noi avevamo lasciato che si seccasse。" 😥Comunque la vita va avanti。。。 e un bel giorno nel mondo di Violeta entra Julián Bravo， pilota della Royal Air Force durante la guerra。。。 ed arriva la "passione" 😊❤️Terza parte。 Gli assenti （1960 – 1983）Gli argomenti sono molti， ma questa parte tratta in particolare Juan Martín e Nieves， i figli di Violeta e Julián Bravo！！Li vediamo crescere: il primo che cerca di rimanere il più lontano possibile dal padre e che sceglie di studiare storia e filosofia。。。 e la seconda che per andare contro la madre， decide di vivere con il padre。。。 e a diciott’anni la troviamo a cantare canzoni alla moda in hotel e casinò。。。 dove i clienti le danno mance， cosa che diverte molto Julián 🙄 。。。quindi ci saranno Miami， ville e yacht。。。 Cadillac， lusso e ristoranti con la miglior cucina Cubana。。。 "l’aria vibrava a ritmo di musica latina" 。。。poi soldi。。。 Las Vegas。。。 cocaina。。。 droghe 😱Poi il golpe。。。 e il paese va in mano ai militari！！！ 😬Quarta parte。 Rinascere （1983 – 2020）Intanto arriva la notizia del ritrovamento di corpi di desaparecidos。。。 che non erano stati buttati in mare né li avevano fatti saltare in aria con la dinamite。。。 li avevano messi in una grotta in collina ed avevano sigillato l’accesso！E la censura， così efficace， non riesce a soffocare lo scalpore。。。 ed è la prima volta！！ E purtroppo c'è la certezza sulla fine di Apolonio Toro 😥 un amico， un fratello， da sempre presente nella vita di Violeta 💕😭Anche in questo capitolo si parla molto di Roy Cooper "il risolutore" 😊 un personaggio che ho veramente amato， molto importante nella vita di Violeta。。。 poi c'è la crescita di Camilo 🥰 chi è？？E si parla anche di Harald Fiske， il diplomatico norvegese， osservatore di uccelli 😁 che sarà il suo 2° marito。Ho amato tantissimo la famiglia allargata di Violeta ❤️ della sua crescita e del suo grande impegno civile！！！Ma quanti fatti， quanti argomenti e quanti personaggi preziosi si trovano durante questa lettura。。。 come Miss Taylor e Teresa Rivas， Facunda e la nipote Etelvina Muñoz。。。 mi sono entrate nel cuore！Che dire， alla fine sono molto contenta di aver letto il libro， ho adorato Violeta e la sua vita， raccontata come una storia lunga un secolo ed è stato bello scoprire piano piano il destinatario di questi pensieri 🥰 Consigliatissimo 👍🏻 。。。more

Ho avuto un rapporto difficile con Violeta， la protagonista dell'ultimo libro della Allende che abbiamo scelto per un gruppo di lettura， perchè da una parte gridava indipendenza e dall'altra era succube della passione o dell'indolenza （cos'altro poteva spingerla al matrimonio con l'inseminatore？！）è un personaggio complesso， affascinante e longevo。 è una che ama la vita， Violeta e per questo forse è sempre stata piena di energia， si è sempre sentita più giovane dell'età anagrafica e non si è spez Ho avuto un rapporto difficile con Violeta， la protagonista dell'ultimo libro della Allende che abbiamo scelto per un gruppo di lettura， perchè da una parte gridava indipendenza e dall'altra era succube della passione o dell'indolenza （cos'altro poteva spingerla al matrimonio con l'inseminatore？！）è un personaggio complesso， affascinante e longevo。 è una che ama la vita， Violeta e per questo forse è sempre stata piena di energia， si è sempre sentita più giovane dell'età anagrafica e non si è spezzata sotto il peso del dolore; anche se ad un certo punto qualcosa dentro di lei ha fatto un click ed è iniziato una specie di "secondo tempo": il tempo di far la pace con il passato， di tagliare con un compagno violento， e di concedersi una seconda possibilità e un amore tranquillo， fatto di cose semplici， a volte noiose， ma che scaldano il cuore。Ma prima di arrivare a quel punto Violeta ne ha passate di cotte e di crude。 e le racconta a Camilo， in una lunga lettera che si apre con una pandemia （la spagnola del 192o） e con una Pandemia si chiude， in un cerchio perfetto （di storia e di affetti） che attraversa la storia del Cile。però per me è raccontato tutto molto in fretta， succedono veramente tantissime cose e avrei voluto un pizzico di "magia" in più: qualche accenno lo si ha con i doni delle zie e col crocifisso di Torito il cui mistero sarà svelato alla fine！） Torito poi è uno dei personaggi più belli che hanno aggiunto quel qualcosa in più ad una storia a cui vorrei dare di più， ma per cui il mio voto è due stelle e mezzo。（recensione un po' breve， ma le tappe intermedie sono nel gruppo）。buone letture e alla prossima！ 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it， click here。 Gli ingredienti di questa narrazione sono tipici dei lavori della Allende， ma sono mescolati ad arte rendendo questa storia commovente， divertente e struggente。 Violeta è un personaggio che fa arrabbiare， intenerire， sorridere e riflettere。 Commette errori， fa finta di niente， s'indigna， è incoerente insomma è profondamente umana， ho amato alla follia il ritratto che Isabel ci consegna di questa donna così ben delineato， sembra viva， reale e mi è dispiaciuto salutarla leggendo l'ultima pagina。 A Gli ingredienti di questa narrazione sono tipici dei lavori della Allende， ma sono mescolati ad arte rendendo questa storia commovente， divertente e struggente。 Violeta è un personaggio che fa arrabbiare， intenerire， sorridere e riflettere。 Commette errori， fa finta di niente， s'indigna， è incoerente insomma è profondamente umana， ho amato alla follia il ritratto che Isabel ci consegna di questa donna così ben delineato， sembra viva， reale e mi è dispiaciuto salutarla leggendo l'ultima pagina。 Attraverso la lunga vita di Violeta ripercorriamo la storia tragica del Cile e non solo， i terremoti devastanti， il colpo di stato e la dittatura， non è la prima volta che accade con un romanzo della Allende， ma qui è tutto raccontato in relazione alla vita di Violeta e della sua famiglia e sembra tutto nuovo ancora una volta。 Ma c'è anche tanta bellezza， quella di un luogo così selvaggio e inesplorato， almeno fino ad un certo punto della Storia， nel profondo sud del pianeta， Nahuel e i Mapuche con le loro tradizioni e capacità。 Non possono mancare tanti personaggi femminili che con costanza e fermezza si oppongono al patriarcato per reclamare giustizia e un po' di spazio in questo mondo di uomini。 Ancora una volta la Allende dimostra con questo romanzo grande sapienza nel parlare di rapporti tra uomini e donne e di famiglia， perciò lo consiglio， inoltre Violeta ha profondamente smosso il mio cuore perché credo ci sia molto dell'autrice in lei。 Non dimentica mai da dove proviene， non si arrende e spesso cerca di far fiorire qualcosa di positivo dai suoi più grandi errori， accettandone le conseguenze anche se dolorose， una figlia perduta molto giovane， l'amore incondizionato dei nonni per i nipoti， la capacità e il coraggio di amare con passione e tenerezza anche in una fase della vita più matura， l'aiuto concreto alle donne vittime di violenza。"C'è un tempo per vivere e un tempo per morire。 E tra i due， c'è il tempo per ricordare。" I。A。 。。。more
