Summary

For fans of Open Book and Sell It Like Serhant, a heartfelt, humorous personal memoir and relatable guide to overcoming obstacles, wising up about romance, and getting ahead in your career from the star of Netflix’s hit reality show Selling Sunset

In this engaging, witty, and inspirational memoir, Chrishell Stause shares her story of living an unconventional childhood in small town Kentucky marked by periods of homelessness, family addiction struggles, and dreams of one day being on a daytime soap, all while managing the local Dairy Queen。 Through resilience and grit, she overcame obstacles and pushed past every barrier in her path to become one of the most envied luxury realtors in Los Angeles and buzzworthy cast members in reality TV。

She takes us behind the scenes of Selling Sunset, reveals never before told stories from her life in soaps, and even pulls back the curtain on her highly publicized love life, offering insight not before shared。 With her signature honesty and charm, Stause also gives tangible advice based on the lessons she’s learned over the years and offers unique insight about how to stay resilient and positive no matter how many times life knocks you down。 Under Construction is for anyone who wants to remember that no matter what happens or how, you have to get up, dress up, and show up, and walk back into the room stronger than ever before。

*Audiobook*Chrishell is definitely my favourite character from Selling Sunset and one of my favourite celebrities。 She comes from humble beginning and in this book shares her story。 I enjoyed listening to her life story。 If your looking for a book about "tea" on her recent divorce or fellow cast members, this isn't the book。 Chrishell is a sweet level headed mature women and that shines through in this book。Why it only got 3 🌟? First book I’ve completely read from a “celebrity” Chrishell is humble, charming and the pure definition of the “American Dream” she shared he life story and continues to prove with the right mindset and “grit” you can accomplish your dreams。 Adored reading this。

I wish she had written this book as a serious memoir。 Instead it is more of a self-help book filled with platitudes that have been said a million times before。 Nothing new here。 She mentions her upbringing throughout the book, growing up completely broke, living in campgrounds and abandoned houses with hippie parents。 I wanted to hear more about that。 I can only imagine the stories she could tell。。。 unfortunately, that's all I can do, imagine them, since she never went into any depth about her c I wish she had written this book as a serious memoir。 Instead it is more of a self-help book filled with platitudes that have been said a million times before。 Nothing new here。 She mentions her upbringing throughout the book, growing up completely broke, living in campgrounds and abandoned houses with hippie parents。 I wanted to hear more about that。 I can only imagine the stories she could tell。。。 unfortunately, that's all I can do, imagine them, since she never went into any depth about her childhood, except to state several times, "we grew up in campgrounds。" Very shallow, fluffy book, which was entertaining and somewhat interesting。 I like fluff at times, but, given her background, I wish she'd gone a lot deeper and into real details about her childhood - that would have made for an amazing book。 。。。more

Under Construction is a sweet, optimistic yet vulnerable memoir。Like many, I learned of Chrishell Stause through the Netflix hit Selling Sunsets。 This book had more ‘Self Help’ content than I had initially expected, however Under Construction is the tales of Chrishell’s life, how she came to enter television and family background。

Barbara

I admire her optimism and perseverance。 She genuinely seems like a good person。

While this book was a little repetitive (even for being so short), I enjoyed it for what it was。 No, Stause isn't necessarily a brilliant writer, but listening to the audiobook and getting some juicy details from her life and a little from Selling Sunset was fun。 While there's nothing really special about this book, if you're a Chrishell stan like me, you'll probably enjoy it。 While this book was a little repetitive (even for being so short), I enjoyed it for what it was。 No, Stause isn't necessarily a brilliant writer, but listening to the audiobook and getting some juicy details from her life and a little from Selling Sunset was fun。 While there's nothing really special about this book, if you're a Chrishell stan like me, you'll probably enjoy it。 。。。more

I love Selling Sunset and Chrishell always stood out to me as the one that has no bull shit or arrogance。 This book is a little cheesy and more of a self help/ life motivation style than I would like (thought it was just going to be her memoir) but I couldn’t help but buy it and help raise some more funds for her (and I hope she sells more books than Christine!!)

Probably more of a 3-3。5…but I like Chrishell and how grounded she seems so I’m rounding up 🌟 Quick, cute listen。 I’m a little disappointed there wasn’t any tea, shes obviously trying to take the high road (another reason she is so likable)。 But, that aside, I enjoyed stories of her unusual childhood and the winding road she took to get to where she is at now。Love me some self-help type advice and life lessons…。but unfortunately lots of cliques and tired advice here。 I guess I was hoping for a b Probably more of a 3-3。5…but I like Chrishell and how grounded she seems so I’m rounding up 🌟 Quick, cute listen。 I’m a little disappointed there wasn’t any tea, shes obviously trying to take the high road (another reason she is so likable)。 But, that aside, I enjoyed stories of her unusual childhood and the winding road she took to get to where she is at now。Love me some self-help type advice and life lessons…。but unfortunately lots of cliques and tired advice here。 I guess I was hoping for a bit more quirkiness/uniqueness in that department。 。。。more

(2。5 stars) I can’t believe I read this book, but it was so fast that I finished before I realized what I was doing。 It was cute and she seems honest enough (and admits to several instances of playing a little dirty to get what she wants?) The “construction tips” are the silliest clichés and also… she doesn’t do construction。 Confusing。

Love the rags to riches sentiment—she is a true “there is more than meets the eye” type of gal。 The writing was beyond cheesy…my 14 year old 9th grade students could write a better biography。

Of course I was going to read this book as someone who watches Selling Sunset with very little shame。 This book was fine but filled with every platitude you have ever seen stitched on a pillow in a HomeGoods。

Малко повече драма ми се искаше, но беше много симпатична книга за това как е порастнала и е станала тази, която е。

Chrishell is one of my favorite cast members on Selling Sunset, and I enjoyed learning more about her life/upbringing in this memoir。 Even though it was a fairly short read, Chrishell still offered a deep dive (and her take) on a lot of topics that have been splashed across the internet/tabloids。 Ultimately this book helped me to better understand/appreciate the author after learning about all that she has overcome in her life thus far。

2。5 ⭐️ is more accurate。 This book was not what I expected。 It had some good parts, but others, not so much。 A good portion of the book felt like she was trying too hard to be motivational that it came off as insincere。 It’s a short book, so if you enjoy Selling Sunset (I definitely do), it’s a fast read and has some interesting insights into the show and her other work。 Unfortunately, just not what I was expecting when I picked it up。

Very easy read。 Great reminders on being yourself and motivating

3。5 stars rounded up! This was cute, and I love Chrishell。 I enjoyed the tips at the end of each chapter。 I wish she included a little more behind the scenes info on Selling Sunset, but it was your average celeb memoir。

Ashley

She is so cute。 If you like her, you will enjoy learning a little more about her background in this book。 It is no Open Book。 Not juicy。 Just sweet。

I watched Chrishell on Days and her ex husband on Passions。 I was very interested to hear her talk about her experiences in this book。 I did enjoy it, although it was very short。 She had it rough growing up and still her light lovely personality and determination come through loud and clear in her story。 Although I hoped for a little more detail about her and Justin she kept it brief and classy。

I really enjoyed this book! I know of Chrishell from Selling Sunset, and when she was introduced on the show, I felt an immediate connection to her。 For whatever reason, she felt relatable to me even though there's nothing I can relate to about a woman who makes her living selling million-dollar homes。 But something about her just set her apart from some of the other women on the show。 She seemed more genuine and like she was truly trying to be a decent human being even in the face of absolute p I really enjoyed this book! I know of Chrishell from Selling Sunset, and when she was introduced on the show, I felt an immediate connection to her。 For whatever reason, she felt relatable to me even though there's nothing I can relate to about a woman who makes her living selling million-dollar homes。 But something about her just set her apart from some of the other women on the show。 She seemed more genuine and like she was truly trying to be a decent human being even in the face of absolute petty, catty behavior from a couple of the other women on the show。 I also like(d) Justin Hartley, and I knew she was married to him, so I was interested/curious to see if he would appear on the show at all, or what she might say about him。 Anyone who has watched the show knows that he didn't really show up on it (maybe like half a cameo once, in season 1 or something?), but he was talked about a lot。 At first it was all positive because Chrishell was obviously VERY happy to be married to him。 She brought him up ALL the time, and she introduced herself as Chrishell Hartley to her clients, and she bragged about being able to auction off a coffee date with him。 It was sickeningly sweet。 Sadly, it turns out, she was either overdoing it to cover up their marital problems, or she was far more sold on their connection than he was。 Given what she describes in her book, I'm gonna guess it's a little of both but with the balance falling heavily on the latter。 She describes him as "charming," a word that is NOT a compliment in my book。 Charming guys are the ones to absolutely stay away from, but women who feel that way only decide that because of the hurt we experience from falling for charmers', well, charms。 I'm so sad that Justin Hartley turned out to be just such a person, but it's not surprising at all when you look at his acting roles and realize he's literally just playing himself onscreen。 So even more, I'm sad for Chrishell, for giving him the benefit of the doubt and falling for it and having to go through a painful and very public divorce as a result。 She didn't deserve that。 Nobody deserves that, but some people experience it as a consequence of their own destructive actions。 Chrishell, however, really seemed to have been blindsided by it。 Anyway。 I still plan to enjoy watching Justin Hartley in his acting roles, but I'm no longer rooting for him in his personal life。 He appears to be a serial monogamist, much like his character Kevin Pearson on This Is Us。 Those types of people are also ones to stay away from, maybe not in friendship but definitely romantically。 They want to be partnered, and they only want one partner at a time, but they never seem to want the SAME partner for the long term。 That's a problem for many people。 So I'm definitely #TeamChrishell on this one。Reading this book was eye-opening as to WHY I felt the connection to Chrishell that I did when I first started watching Selling Sunset。 Although I didn't grow up in quite as dire circumstances as she did, I can relate to the humble midwest lifestyle she talks about。 I also felt a kinship with her perspective, her general personality, and the way she describes her approach to life。 A couple final notes about this book: I listened to the audio version, which she read herself。 I really appreciate when authors read their own books because you feel like they're just having a conversation with you。 It's great。 Also, I am not sure whom this book might appeal to。 I was interested in it because of knowing who Chrishell is from Selling Sunset, and from feeling like she's relatable。 She does share some details about her interpersonal relationships in here that, if you haven't seen the show, might not make sense。 On the other hand, she also referenced her Dancing with the Stars performances several times throughout the book, none of which I had seen, but I went and looked them up after reading because her descriptions of them and of the surrounding contexts with each appearance made me interested enough to want to watch them。 So maybe the book has a general appeal, or if it doesn't, perhaps her compelling writing style will make you want to go watch Selling Sunset if you never have。I would love to meet Chrishell in person (which is something I really never say about famous people because who cares, right?)。 But Chrishell seems genuinely kindhearted。 I truly hope she finds her happy ending。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 Meh just nothing interesting about this book。 The chronological order was all over the place and things like dancing with the stars and her parents passing away were talked about multiple times。 This was not much more than a biography and for someone who didn’t know much about Crishelle outside of selling sunset, I didn’t learn much。 She touched on topics without telling anecdotes to make them relatable。 The stories weren’t personal, for instance she touched on her and Jason going out as friends Meh just nothing interesting about this book。 The chronological order was all over the place and things like dancing with the stars and her parents passing away were talked about multiple times。 This was not much more than a biography and for someone who didn’t know much about Crishelle outside of selling sunset, I didn’t learn much。 She touched on topics without telling anecdotes to make them relatable。 The stories weren’t personal, for instance she touched on her and Jason going out as friends one night and then kissing, but there wasn’t much more to the story than that。 I would have appreciated more personal touched。 Very ghost writer-y and only ended up giving it 2 stars because it was short and easy to listen to。 。。。more

I enjoyed listening to this book。 Only short but I like Chrishell and enjoyed listening to her story。 Some great advice also offered throughout。

ily Chrishell but this was not it! Not a lot going on in these 200~ pages。 Chrishell goes through her childhood, some soap/selling sunset stuff, and not much else。 No tea regarding behind the scenes of SS or divorce drama。 It was just ehhhh in my opinion。 Still like Chrishell as a person I just personally wouldn’t recommend this memoir。
